People are saying Silva isn't a "goal scorer" but that isn't the point of this signing. It would be to unlock the defence. What he does is get one or two players to commit to him, thus leaving space in behind for our pace.

He'd be just a big piece in the small jigsaw.

No one in our team even has the audacity to play balls like the one above. We must be so frustrating for players like Martial and Rashford who are constantly looking to make runs off the shoulder of the last defender and instead seeing the likes of Wayne fecking Rooney playing another pointless ball out wide to Valencia. I think Herrera to Rashford Vs Chelsea is the last time I saw a decent ball played through the middle.

Our attacking play is so shit and telegraphed no wonder we have fewer goals this season than the combined totals of Kane, Alli and Son. We need a player that will give another dimension to our attacking play and Bernardo is the man.

This is like signing Xavi in 2004 (?) when it was rumoured we were extremely close to doing so. This is the real world, we can't put off a signing of this calibre until next year because then it's too late. We might need to sign him now or completly miss out on him for good if he joins City / Chelsea

I've spent countless posts questioning this transfer and haven't even bothered to read the articles of us linked with him - can anyone tell me if any of the French outlets that say we've opened talked are credible? I thought Canal + is so so.

Can you just imagine Rashford on the end of these type of balls that are put through...

Im not 100% sold but i like his ball control. Something similar with Maradona and Messi. And i think we most need skillful players who can dribble and/or score goals. So he could be the guy we need.

I like him a lot, but we need goals in the forward areas. Silva isn't really a goalscorer, having scored only 8 in 33 league appearances.

Yes, he's creative and can unlock defences, but we don't really struggle to create chances. We struggle to put them away.

He does remind me a lot of Mata. Id like to see Silva on the right and Mata behind the striker (I think Mata is better there and hes more of a second striker than a creator)

His signing doesn't exactly stop us adding more attackers.

Another area he'll improve are our counterattacks. Our decision making on the counter is garbage.

We struggle with both, without Zlatan and Pogba we struggle to create.

I don't think he'll be the only signing. I expect him to play on the right with one of Griezmann/James playing as a number 10 next season and a new striker like Lukaku upfront.

Is he really so much better than Mkhitaryan and Mata? We could end up with 3 players and neither of them really stands out.

A ball playing defender and a ball playing midfielder who can both cut open most defensive teams are positions we should have a look. With Martial, Mkhi and Mata already in the team, i'd much rather have more pace on one side of the wings.

I'm not sold that for United Silva would be the best buy. Honestly i'd take Mahrez or Costa over him atm.

Really hope this happens. He'd be an immense signing.

He would start over Mata and Mkhi without a shadow of a doubt. If we go for him everything you need to know what Mou thinks of him, especially since we have Mkhi and Mata in the squad already. We will obviously add a goalscorer too

How much are we paying for him? I've seen him few times and he strikes me as a rough but more explosive Isco. If we are paying for him an amount which can get us Isco, what do you guys say then? him or Isco?

Looks a fantastic footballer. We need a player like him as finishing is clearly not the only weakness we have in attack. His balance and class on the ball would be a joy to watch in a United team.

He's really nothing like Mata. That's a very lazy comparison just because they both have nice technique and they're small.

We won't get Isco as RM are looking to offload James (or James is looking for a way out) and as of recent Isco has been fantastic for RM and is likely to feature more next season.

I've watched him a bunch of times this season and would say that in his case the highlights do him justice, the man has a wand of a left foot!. He controls the ball like Messi and is almost impossible to dispossess without fouling him, exactly what we need to break down the defences of the lower teams and counter against the tough ones (and maybe win some bloody penaltys too!). He absolutely tore City's defence to shreds in the CL.

His only drawback is that he isn't fast over large spaces. But overall i think he would be a much more sensible signing than James Rodriguez considering our needs and his age is a bonus.

He's a good player with great technique, close control, and creative passing.

However he also has the problem of doing a lot without doing much. By that I mean he'll use fancy footwork and control to beat a player, but then his lack of pace leads him to turn back on himself, and ultimately he ends up right back where he started.

Is he going to the Confed Cup this summer? Hope not if we buy him.
Portugal squad hasn't been announced yet but from what the Portuguese posters said, the manager is expected to take it seriously so he'll likely be included. Especially seeing as he missed out on the Euros last summer due to injury.

I watched some of his highlights and he is nothing like Mata. Mata does not have the dribbling ability and plus close control that Bernado has, technique wise maybe they are on par. He really took the piss out of those defenders in those highlights

But i saw a post which got me quite concerned. Someone else mentioned he did virtually nothing and was invisible in the 2 semi final games against Juventus. Granted i didn't watch both games, but is that true?

I'd say that Pogba is definitely capable of it, and he tries them too. It's so obvious whenever he's not playing how predictable we get.

He's more David Silva than mata with his ability to open up closed spaces. He'll make a ton of difference in the kid of games we drew at home this season.

Makes sense. Chile and Mexico also took their best squads, only Germany with the youngsters and backup players, who are all pretty good and talented

I've not really been following transfer rumours so far, but haven't we been linked with this guy, M'Bappe and Fabinho? Surely Monaco won't let 3 first teamers go in one summer... Let alone to one club?

Absolutely, one of the few players that has that ability to pick out a pass. Needs to do it more often though in my opinion, he had a great link with Ibra and seemed to be on the same wavelength. Doesn't seem to have a similar connection with Rashford or Martial.

Too many of our players would rather go for the safe option and play 5-10 yard passes between them that make little difference to our build up play other than waste time.
