Having watched an obligatory YT comp (with an obligatory terrible music) I get a feeling he's kind of more skilled Mata, ie RW with a free role. Wouldn't all the doubs we have re Mata apply to him as well if played RW? Too lightweight, not strong enough defensively, doesn't provide width etc.
Interestingly, same as with Mata, who is always being hyped up as a 10 by us fans but has actually played more as this drifting RW throughout his careed wouldn't it be the case with Bernando Silva too?

But something happened a few weeks before where scheniderlin had an interview on holiday and then a french outlet (Canal+ or an offshoot) changed the rumours from arsenal said he was off to MUFC.
Yes it was Canal+ who said Schneiderlin was closer to moving to us rather than Arsenal when most were of the opinion he would end up at Arsenal.
Sorry but just like James I'm really underwhelmed by this, just can't see how we need another wide number 10 player when the 2 we already have have been 2 of our best players this year
Mkhitryan off the ball isn't any faster than Silva is. Mkhitryan's speed seems to go up a level when he's on the ball though, which is when he's faster than B. Silva. This obsession with pace is so boring anyway, we have more than enough pace in the side, what we lack is composure.

I don't know. Really speed doesn't come into to it when you have that ability. He would be great at opening doors, dragging players away from other players ect. For some reason people get hung up on speed, yet fail to realise we have that in abundance up top and what has it achieved us this year?
The guy is top quality. How anyone could have watched him and not be buzzing at the thought of us signing him is confusing.
He'd be immense for us imo, especially if we are going to continue playing counter-attack. He thrives under press and could get us out of our own half.
Exactly, as I said above, we have more than enough pace in the team. What we need is composure and players who can move the ball quick, not just run quickly.

Its the fear of the club not addressing areas of the pitch that really need addressing for me i.e. a top class CB, a Carrick replacement, a genuine goal scorer. Signing Silva doesn't necessarily mean not addressing the first two but given his cost it does make me wonder if it's lessens the likes of a Griezmann coming as well
We can sign a genuine goal scorer and it not be Griezmann, you know.
Stop worrying, I doubt he'll be our only signing mate. Let's wait and see what happens before we make these assumptions.

I think we need both. And hopefully Silva would make up for it with his ridiculous composure, but even though the clip at 2:18 above shows him looking fast for a second it just seems to me that he accelerates kind of slow when you watch full match highlights with him. But his technique and passings would probably make up for it. I just wonder if he'd be good or bad against mid-table opponents, that we have a hard time opening up. I guess if David Silva could do it.
1:07 and 3:24 he's a bit slow, but of course these are short samples - he could be tired in the game, etc.

I think one thing that this season has taught us is that we need a better squad. There isn't enough quality in our squad to turn to when players need a rest, or are injured ect.
