I think I'd cry tears of joy if we bought Bernardo Silva and Antone Griezmann.

Getting quiet. Hope France Football are right and we are in advanced talks for 50m. He is such a nice player to watch, in the David Silva, Iniesta and Isco category.

Fabulous to watch, no doubt. But does he (or Isco) hurt teams enough?

Jorge Mendes client so I'm sure if Jose was interested we would be top contenders.

Plus he is Portuguese. Plus Monaco seems to like doing business with United.

Let's see which rumour pans out. I just don't believe United can be after both Rodriguez and Silva. It has to be one of them IMO.

The only downside is they would likely fleece us as they did with Martial. I'd be shocked if we pay anything less than 50m.

I'd be happy with no "Out and out" striker if we get these two. Combine them with Rashford, Martial, Mkhitaryah, and Mata and you've got pretty potent attack. If they can't improve us in the final third then the world is doomed.

Yep would be a massive 2 pieces in the puzzle still think we need a left back (Shaw has stalled unfortunately) and a better midfielder to compliment Pogba. We can cope elsewhere but may have to be the window afterwards.

Rashford
Mkhitaryan - Griezmann - Silva

Love it. I'd go with this;

................Rashford
Martial ... Griezmann ... Silva
.......Pogba ......... Fabinho

Then the beauty is Mkhitaryan can play backup to all three positions behind the striker, so he will play his part in almost every game for say 30mins as first sub.

Imagine having the likes of Mkhitaryan, Mata and Herrera on the bench

Rashford
Mkhitaryan - Griezmann - Silva

I don't see Jose going with that, he likes a striker that can hold the ball up, he'll bring a #9 in to play up top IMO, he wont rest the season on a kid as his main #9, no matter who he puts in the secondary striker role, not to mention Griezmann is the same as Rashford in terms of needing a partner to feed off that offers more on the ball.

He will probably be our NT reference for the next years as Ronaldo begins to lose influence. I think it's very possible for him to sign with United due to Mourinho/Mendes friendship and links.

Why did Benfica let him leave when he was only 19? Only sold him for about 15m Euros too so not a huge financial offer either.

Because Jorge Jesus. Not really known for promoting youngsters. Not only that but Benfica had plenty of players for his position and Jesus prefered to go with more experienced ones. He's doing the same crap at Sporting. Playing with the likes of Bryan Ruiz and neglecting talents like Matheus Pereira. If he doesn't change, we will regret it as much as Benfica fans with Bernardo Silva.

If he's available we have to go for him. Surely? I thought it'd be more Bakayoko and Fabinho likely to move. Whilst Mbappe and Silva would stay due to the world cup year.

Silva is nailed starter for Portugal, next season being world cup year doesn't concern him.

If we are breaking the bank for any player, it should be Bernardo Silva. He might not get many goals and assists but he will take us to the next level. Such a fantastic player on the ball, whenever I watched him he reminded me of David Silva (I watched very few games though) with bit better dribbling ability but not as good passer of the ball.

I remember hearing very similar things with Kagawa. Hopefully second time lucky. I do like the look of him but also worry about players who don't change a game themselves.

Unless im talking shit and Silva does? Only seen a handful of games tbf

I think it depends on the system. For example players like Xavi, Iniesta don't have to change the game by scoring because they have Messi and other star forwards. If we are talking about AMs then David Silva, he doesn't score many goals for City but it's obvious how important he is.

When was the last time a twinkle-toed footballer like Bernardo Silva has ever really worked for us? I honestly can't remember. One of those ones where their aesthetic style was incredible, the sort player who dictates the play and brings buckets of creativity, which compensates for their (sometimes underwhelming) direct goal contribution stats. Have we ever really had one? One like Bernardo Silva, like David Silva, Isco etc... I guess Kagawa was the closet thing?

Our wingers tend to be direct wide-men or inside forwards. Our no.10's tend to be simply second-strikers (mainly Rooney, really).

One of the reasons why our football has lagged behind IMO, we need to move with the times. You need someone (preferabally more than 1) like this when teams park the bus

It's definitely a possibility, I think. We have some incredibly technically gifted players - namely Pogba and Ibrahimovic, but we really don't have that floating-playmaker like Isco, Silva et al...

Mkhi is honestly very close to what you are describing. If he's not technically superb then no one is.

My muppet signing, his ball control is mesmerising. Haven't seen anyone so comfortable with the ball since Messi or peak Iniesta. He dances his way out of presses for fun.

Mikhitaryan.
Really? I mean you can argue he has great technical ability, sure. But I think Mkhitaryan is quite clearly at his best in a counter-attacking system in the final third where his ability to push goals and assists are at the forefront. His final season at Dortmund is testament to that where he ended with something ridiculous like 20 goals and 30 assists in all competitions. I think he has been just as inept as the most of the squad when it comes to creating that glimmer of magic against deep defensive lines.

Everyone is at their best when gifted more space (like you would be when counter-attacking). Mkhi or Mata are both capable of what you have described.

Mata more likely to be on the end of something in those situations, he simply isn't able to hold onto the ball long enough in those situations to be as creative as we need IMO.
Mhiki I am unsure of, hes certainly not the dictator type in those situations like Isco or Silva, but he does have some attributes which would make him useful.
