Bernard - Brazilian Wonderkid

Nah, not so keen on 'Fabregas' as a name - 'Bernard' is much better. Plus, I am on record as saying that Fabregas is a little bitch and this remains true unless and until he signs for us.

He wanted 'Cesc' on his shirt...apparently AW put his foot down.

Wenger is a strange man sometimes.

He was right there. Surnames only, unless you're Brazilian, then you can have whatever you want as there's no rules for them. First name. Last name. Nickname. Your best mate's name. A picture of a dick. Anything.

Too many Spaniards have their first name, or both first and last names on their shirt. Player power running riot. FIFA needs to slap them all with the cold hard hand of reality.

Ever heard of this fellow?

Last night, in the Hospital Anis Rassi, in the Brazilian city of Goiânia, the retired chief of police Hitler Mussolini de Moura Pacheco has died. Hitler suffered from cancer and had been interned last Thursday.

Hitler Mussolini was chief of police during all of his professional life and was director general of the Civil Police. He was married to the attorney of justice Dalva Ribeiro Pacheco, who had died in 2002. The couple had three children.

Rumours on twitter that he'll be announced by Porto in the next few days. Arsenal missing out yet again.

BREAKING - D.Duarte (Bernard dad): "Arsenal? We know there interest, but there is nothing official. At Porto, it's better for his career."

He is, but its not like he wouldnt start for Arsenal. He just wouldnt win as much and probably he leaves Porto in a couple of years for a huge fee

He's very young and physically poor. There's no way he would regularly start for us at this point in his career.

There's been a lot of fake quotes flying around about him recently too, just for the record.

I see now, make out he wouldnt start for Arsenal so you arent as dissappointed when he's the next in the long line of expensive players linked to Arsenal that they dont sign

I'm a fierce critic of our transfer dealings, as you know.

Your problem is that you're so anti-Arsenal in every post it's difficult to have a serious discussion. Even in the Suarez thread you're having subtle digs. Strange behaviour.

Its just too obvious what you're doing. He'd go straight into your team even if he is lightweight and he'd be a good signing

Everyone is talking him up because he looks the business. Brazil see him as the next big thing, the Porto ITKs mentioned in the previous page think they "need" to get him. People are convinced he'll be the best signing a premier league club might make this summer.

Then his dad mentions Porto are probably a better option than Arsenal

Suddenly he wouldnt start for Arsenal, not a big deal if you dont get him. Yeah ok then

Who actually said it's not a big deal, you absolute knobber?

He'd start for Arsenal, that's without question.

Having said that I can see why his father wants him to go to Porto. At Porto, he can win some trophies, develop as a player and will move on to a much better club in next two-three years. Also crucially, I think Porto still allow for third party ownership, so I'm assuming his father will get some share of the money from his next big move.

So Porto will get him for a decent fee, he will look like a world beater then they will triple their money in 2-3 seasons. Why do other teams let them do this? I mean it's no secret he's a top prospect and for £20m he almost guarantees a profit or at least a top player for that fee, it's a win-win unless he gets injured.

No disrespect to Porto the model they use in great, their transfer dealings in the last 10 years have been fantastic I just think by now other teams would realize a top prospect and sign him before Porto get their hands on him and essentially cut out the 'middle man' and save themselves a further 25m in 2 seasons.

Saying that a move to Portugal is probably a nice way to be introduced to Europe, it's probably a big attraction to Brazilians but it's still mind boggling to look at their transfer business over the years and wonder how they do it.

He's not guaranteed to make them a profit or become a top player though, that's generally why the other teams "let" these players go there. It's a good way of finding out whether they're capable of adapting to European football. There's been plenty of top prospects that haven't fulfilled their potential after making the move to Europe. With third-party ownership being so common across South America it adds that extra bit of baggage on top of the risk. It's not hard to see why the top clubs are tentative to pay that kind of money. And as you say it's an easier transition for the Brazilian players themselves.

I don't think Bernard would have walked right into Arsenal's team at all. I think he could've been the best signing because of his talent and potential but he might well have taken a few months to settle in and possibly even longer to develop physically to make a big impact in the Premier League.

Reyes was a complete fanny and he was a starter. The other option is Podolski. Of course Arsenal would start him and give him every chance to prove he's ready after making him their record transfer

Look forward to see him line-up for a Russian outfit in a couple of years. How in the hell is the Porto shop better than Arsenal? Arsene has one of the best track records in developing youngsters.

Third-party owners can continue to hold their stake and maximise their investment when he gets sold on.

I'm not sure, my instinct is to condemn it but in poor countries the 3rd parties take a risk on supporting and marketing the player, who otherwise might not be able to sustain a career at an early age. Without their input/finance the player might not make it at all. I feel a bit sorry for Tevez, I'm far from convinced he's played where he wanted to, it's all been dictated by Kia and the others - I think that shows in his attitude.

Its true, in south america there are many players who come from poor areas who would never make it as footballers without third party support. It might make it difficult when the player makes a move to europe, but particularly in areas of Brazil its seen as something thats needed

Someone needs to stop this third party bullshit. Players should not be bought and sold as future contracts. It is nothing but modern day slavery.

I'm completely against stopping third party transfers. For clubs like Porto, Benfica and the Brazilian clubs it's the only way how they can remain competitive and ensures that rich clubs won't blow them away in every deal.
