BERBATIME!

I was absolutely gutted when I heard on Sky Sports News that Campbell had signed for Spurs, was great to hear that it was only a loan, there's still hope for the lad yet.

Quite entertaining was the Hull reporter who was adamant that they had tabled a £7m bid for Fraizer Richardson.

Mods please lock this thread. Or better still make posts un-deleteable. Would love someone to dig up the posts of the non-believers.

Going too wait for more info but £30.75 million is a lot more then i was expecting especially if Campbell was going the other way as a sweetener.

I would have thought that fee would have been enough to sign him outright, then have Campbell loaned out to a small club where he will be certain to play most games.

Anyway am glad we have him.

The not-so-sulky-anymore Man Utd striker Dimitar Berbatov

Apparently Berbatov agreed early in the day, and he never talked to Man City. The Campbell loan deal was agreed this morning. The only reason it dragged on was United wanted Spurs to drop the complaint about tapping to the FA.

Great deal in the end. We get a proven EPL striker who gives us a bit of height in the middle, plus he is quite creative. We also get to keep the rights to Campbell. He will either leave next summer for a decent fee or return a better player.

fecking fantastic bit of business.

I've not been able to even get on here since about 10pm. Went to bed about 12 then got woke up by the radio saying the deal had been done.

It's like getting up eraly for Christmas.

Figure Spurs might end up signing him permanently next summer for 10m or so which basically makes Berbatov a 20m signing.

Very little, the only chance he has of establishing himself in the next few years is if Manucho flops and he can then become a fourth choice striker.

Oh well, I doubt Campbell will be anywhere near as good as Berbatov is now, but I had high hopes for him anyway. :(

Reds sign Berbatov

Manchester United are delighted to announce the signing of Dimitar Berbatov.
The Bulgarian international striker, 27, has signed a four-year contract after joining from Tottenham Hotspur for an undisclosed fee.
As part of the deal, United striker Fraizer Campbell will spend the rest of the 2008/09 season on loan at White Hart Lane.
Upon becoming a United player, Dimitar told ManUtd.com: "Joining Manchester United is a dream come true for me. I look forward to playing my part in helping this club win more honours in the years to come."
Sir Alex Ferguson was delighted to finally capture the elegant striker and admitted: "This is a key signing. Dimitar is one of the best and most exciting strikers in world football.
"His style and ability will give the team a different dimension and I’m sure he will be a popular player with the fans."

You have to admit Spurs drive a hard bargain, £50m and Fraizer Campbell on loan for Keane and Berbatov. Must be around a £35m profit on those two.
