"My mate owns a burger van outside Old Trafford and he's just had to remind Dean Windass and his agent that he's not open till 11. You heard it here first!"

we don't have until midnight either. We have until the stock exchange closes.

So if it hasn't happened by 4:50pm it won't be happening.

Not sure that's true actually.

Plenty of deals which affect share-price are done when the stock exchange is closed. All they have to do is make a formal announcement to their share-holders in time for the commencement of trading on the following day.

At least, I'm fairly sure that's how it works.

are you being serious?

Insulting me because I am stating a fact. Not an opinion. A FACT.

Some people may not realise that the deal must be done during stock market hours. I am pointing this out.

If you disagree then say so. Telling me to feck off is not how grown ups conduct their conversations.

I suggest you take a long look at yourself.

It's not going to happen, is it? It's already 11 AM and there is no news about us agreeing a fee or Berbatov travelling to Manchester.

Thanks Pogue, I hope Alex sees your response and realises this is the correct way to respond when you disagree with someone who has merely stated what they believe to be a fact.

I hope you are right and I am wrong. What you say makes sense.

It might not happen.

But the fact we haevn't heard any news by 11am doesn't mean it won't. Plenety of deals have gone right down to the wire in previous seasons. The fat lady won't be singing on this window for another 12 hours or so.

this will surely be the biggest anti climax ever, 400 page thread on the premise hes going to sign is blinding people to the fact that besides media speculation theres little to no evidence of this deal going through

I imagine the stock exhange rule doesn't apply for a lot of football clubs. Things will be ran differently. I remember the Ashley Cole/Gallas transfer goign through right at the end of the transfer window, and aren't Arsenal publiclly owned like us?

1102: Robinho has been spotted everywhere within a one mile radius of Stamford Bridge if you believe all the texts and 606s flooding in. However, in terms of official word it is all very quite so far. Rest assured, we are keeping across this one.

Surprised no "reported sightings" of Berb.

Could be wishful thinking on my part, to be fair.

Would like to hear a definitive answer from someone who actually works in the (spit) stock market. Any suited and booted cnuts out there?

Or are you all in wine bars, eating foie gras and leering down your secretary's blouse? ;)

I wouldn't worry about not hearing anything, not every section of the transfer has to be made public until the deal is completed, could get lucky and someone spots Berba at OT but other than that, and it being highly unlikely, don't get too worried just yet!! (Unless 12hours from now there's still no Berba :nervous:)

I doubt United could go over this business that quiet though, it's been apparent for a while that we are interested. It's all been extremely quiet over the last few days except for an odd news in a newspaper.

United are no longer a PLC. It's Spurs who are a PLC.

Arsenal.. not sure but don't think they are quoted on the stock exchange.

I believe it has nothing to do with stock market times, I doubt Mergers and Acquisitions are completed in time for the stock exchange to close. They can be anytime, and a statement can be released at even, say 2am if they want...

12 hours 50 minutes to doom

Jack Bauer is working on stopping the clock, but Elisha Cuthbert keeps getting in the way, and it may take until the last hour today to sort this.

I'm interested to know how any of you guys thought a deal could be announced over the weekend when Spurs have to inform the stock exchange of any deals first.

The Stock market being closed all weekend would have prevented a deal being reported officially even if one had happened.

A lot of muppets, myself included, wasted a large part of their weekend constantly refreshing various internet sites.
wasnt the signing of palvychenko (sp?) on their site over the weekend and was announced today morning ..
it couldve happened .. but it hasnt happened yet

Well, Gill is speaking at a conference in Dubai today, and Sir Alex has gone to his house in France for a week's holiday.

If Berbatov is signing today, it will be quite a job well done by Mike Phelan and the tea-lady.

The club confirmed to the Stock Exchange on Thursday morning that a £15m deal, potentially rising to £17m, had been agreed for the 23-year-old.

Bentley had a medical on Wednesday and Spurs have called a news conference for 1000 BST on Thursday where they will unveil their new capture.

The signing comes just days after Spurs sold Robbie Keane to Liverpool.

A statement from Tottenham plc read: "Tottenham Hotspur plc is pleased to announce that agreement has been reached with Blackburn Rovers for the transfer of the registration of the England international midfielder, David Bentley, age 23 years, to Tottenham Hotspur FC for a total consideration of £15m and up to an additional £2m payable upon future performances.

"The player's contract is for a period of up to six years."

"I spoke to the Spurs chairman last night and we agreed a fee and a deal in principle for David," said Blackburn chairman John Williams on Wednesday.

So a deal can be reached and a statement put out in the morning as done with the Bentley transfer, by the looks of it

Well if that's true, it's a proper kick in the cnut for us Berbatov hopefuls.

Time to switch off the internet and go out and do something less boring instead.
