Berbatov

Cant see this happening anymore. if things were at a very advanced stage, and they'd have to be. we would have more than complete conjecture.
This is the first time ive said this but i think the deal is off.

Fellow Reds, I am aware that I wont be the only one posting RUMOURS today regarding who we could be signing.
But I have had a Good friend who works at Old Trafford and he claims that along with Berbatov, Owen could still sign for around £3 Million....

Source = Friend
Reliable = Depends who told him....

Could be wishful thinking on my part, to be fair.

Would like to hear a definitive answer from someone who actually works in the (spit) stock market. Any suited and booted cnuts out there?

Or are you all in wine bars, eating foie gras and leering down your secretary's blouse? ;)

You are right.

But I don't wear a suit, visit wine bars, or have a secretary, so perhaps you need a second opinion...

Players are off on International duties.
not all of them

do the south americans have games as well ?
carrick , giggs , scholes , hargreaves , park , ronaldo , the twins , neville , foster , koosh , vds , (tevez+anderson.. not sure if they have internationals) , possebon ..
enough players for fergie not to take another vacation ..
doubt he'd go on deadline day anyway .. if he has to , he will go tomorrow

Not sure that's true actually.

Plenty of deals which affect share-price are done when the stock exchange is closed. All they have to do is make a formal announcement to their share-holders in time for the commencement of trading on the following day.

At least, I'm fairly sure that's how it works.

So a deal can be reached and a statement put out in the morning as done with the Bentley transfer, by the looks of it

I assume this to be correct as well.

During the weekend the Pavlyuchenko has signed story was broke out on the spurs website and released to the media (BBC MOTD also said it). Then it was released to the stock exchange this morning.

Heard from elsewhere that it's pretty much tied up and will be announced later this afternoon, he's passed a medical.

This concurs with what some poster on Glory Glory Spurs posted;

Dazza_London:

I'm not one to spread ITK gossip, in fact I usually slag of ITK's at every opportunity so I'm leaving myself open to be shot down myself.

Just heard through a semi-reliable source that a deal was agreed in principle in Monaco for Berbs to have a medical for ManUre over the weekend in a London hospital (think it was The Wellington - little private thing in St John's wood area) with a view to a last minute deal today.

Apparently the talk in Monaco was Frazier Campbell as a make weight as we're short of strikers (obviously) and about £24m ish.

Reading the papers today and some have Campbell while others are saying a deal with add-ons so don't know the latest movements as of today but I found the fact he'd had his medical already was worth mentioning.

"My mate owns a burger van outside Old Trafford and he's just had to remind Dean Windass and his agent that he's not open till 11. You heard it here first!"
thought that was a funny text off bbc

Well, Gill is speaking at a conference in Dubai today, and Sir Alex has gone to his house in France for a week's holiday.

If Berbatov is signing today, it will be quite a job well done by Mike Phelan and the tea-lady.

:boring:

Seeing as you do seem to have free reign to WUM as much as you like, why not make them a bit more interesting or convincing?

It seems that Fergie decided to bring Owen so that none of the guys in the physio room will be sacked, now that Saha is gone..:lol:

Whilst Owen being (in my opinion) a great third choice striker for us, I find it unlikely that we would shell any money on a player who has a track record similar to Saha's.

Got to say, I like Cnut when he posts sensibly but I don't understand why he allowed to continue posting in the Transfer forum as I don't think I've seen him post anything sensible. Ever.

£24m + Campbell seems like good business for them if there is any truth in that rumour.

It would be really useful for me if this got sorted out in a timely manner. I have lots to do today at work but cant get down to it while this is buzzing around in my head.

I know how you feel! :)

To be honest I cannot see Owen playing 40+ full games for us. I see him more of a Solksjaer-like player, who Fergie would introduce in the last 15-20 minutes when the team needs a goal.

So why not keep Saha? Because Saha despite being a better player overall than Owen is not a natural goal-poacher, Owen is....

I think I have to work tonight, when the signing is finished. Damn Spurs, release him now :)

I'm fairly sure it wasn't the Wellington. St John's Wood was dead most of this weekend.

Doubt he's coming, tbh.

Blues in cheeky Berbatov bid

1/ 9/2008

CITY have made a dramatic 11th hour bid for United's number one target Dimitar Berbatov.

The Reds have been locked in transfer talks over the signing of Tottenham's Bulgarian star all summer but City, who are on the brink of being taken over by an Abu Dhabi investment group, are attempting a cheeky deadline day swoop.

The cash rich Abu Dhabi United Group for Development and Investment have reached an agreement to buy City, and their first instruction to the Blues is to try and lure Berbatov for a reputed £28m.

The Blues may try and use Martin Petrov to persuade his international team-mate to come to City.

The audacious move is bound to rile United, even if Berbatov goes to Old Trafford as expected.
