Berbatov

Surely any team would gain from aquiring Ribery? Especially when Giggs retire.

He would probably the only one.
Although his uglyness really makes you think twice about it. + I hate Bayern and any player that has to do with that "club".

They could, surely.
And I wouldnt want any of those.

This is Bayerns first year back in the champions league. They aren't really a club flush with cash regardless of how big they are in Germany.

They bought Ribery last year from the Hargreaves cash.

They have a transfer budget, sure, but there is no way they could compete with us financially.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Luca Toni on the highest wage of any footballer in Europe, bar none?

It's only because the taxes are Germany is so high. What he gets after taxes is probably around what a top Premiership footballer would get.

As far as I can see, if Berbatov plays at the weekend then there's no deal, simply in terms of medical, agreeing personal terms etc. I would expect our squad to return to Manchester tonight after the game, giving Fergie and Gill 3 clear days to thrash something out. I just feel that if Berba plays that its a no-go.

you don't know if somethings already been agreed. it could easily happen at the last minute even if he plays for spurs on sunday

After seeing that Gill interview, i feel a tad more confident, but the good news is we only have to wait 3 more days, and we will know whether its berba-time or not

Bayern certainly can afford to pay £25m for a player. They usually just don't see the need to do so, because they always get the best players of the German league on the 'cheap' (compared to transfer fees in England). The source for this shit is the 'Bild', pretty similar to the English 'Sun'. 95% of everything they print is likely to be bullshit.
On a more interesting note though Bayern just announced on German tv that they are close to seal a player deal today - with Arshavin rumoured to be this certain player (according to Bayern supporters in other forums) - a load of shite if you ask me...

With berbs training with spurs today, don't you guys think there is more chance of him staying now??

nope, nothing is finished yet so him not training would do no one any good.

yep, so things are looking more positive, and there have been loads of reports that spurs have agreed a fee with us! but atm its prob bullshit

kinky melinky, watch the david gill interview on the previous page, it will change that

The interview is nothing much honestly because it is same old same old, the clear signal is selling saha because if your looking to buy a striker, you wouldn't let one go (even if it is saha), without something being 99.9% done. Not in our position anyway.

Also it might be berbatov, it might not. No ones confirmed anything apart from some misguided tool who based it on an assumption

We won't sign him

Well thank you for your constructive contribution to the debate. Of course, you should probably clarify that you have plucked this opinion out of your arse, rather than having any useful information relating to whether we will or won't actually sign Berbatov.

Re: Training with Spurs today, that doesn't make a move any more or less likely. It seems as though the signing of a replacement (e.g. Pavyluchenko, assuming Levy can kid the Spurs fans into believing Dos Santos is the Keane replacement) is the major stumbling block.

If we see Berbatov on the same training pitch as Pavyluchenko then I think we could assume the move is not going to happen. Until that happens, I'm remaining optimistic.

Commoli was just interviewed on SSN, and he said he was hopeful Berbatov would stay (rubbish).

He also wouldn't comment on the speculation about Pavlyuchenko (even though he's in London for a medical), or Arshavin.

'Hopeful'? Doesn't exactly smack of confidence does it? I mean whenever Fergie or Gill were asked about Ronaldo they refused to even entertain he may go.

Ya, he has to talk that way like for the time being.
