Manchester United will strike a £30million deal to sign Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov this week after Spurs manager Juande Ramos left the Bulgaria striker out of yesterday's home game against Sunderland for not being 'focused enough'.
Ramos will meet Berbatov today to discuss his future but the player's departure seems inevitable, following his formal transfer request and the manager's decision not even to include him on the bench, as he showed a poor attitude in the build up to the game.
Without Berbatov, Tottenham crashed to a second consecutive defeat by 2-1 and they face a turbulent week ahead of taking on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge next Sunday.
Ramos, desperate for striking reinforcements before the transfer window closes, said: 'I have not selected him as I do not think he is focused enough and I do not feel that he will be good for the dressing room and the team effort. It doesn't matter how good a player is, if he is not in the right frame of mind, then he will not perform well.'

After the game, Ramos said he would be meeting the player today to decide on a way forward. 'We'll have a meeting to clarify a few points,' added the Spaniard. 'We have to wait and see in the next few days after the meeting, and make a decision to see if he is in a state for the next game - or if we have to find other solutions.'
The decision is more likely to be taken out of the manager's hands, however, with Berbatov sealing his dream move to Old Trafford ahead of the deadline a week on Tuesday.
The transfer of the Bulgaria striker has been in the balance because of a breakdown in talks between the clubs, with Spurs reporting United to the Premier League for allegedly making an illegal approach to the player.
Spurs' insistence on a £35m fee also stalled the deal, but the breakdown in Berbatov's relationship with Ramos and other Tottenham players makes holding on to the striker they signed for £11m two years ago seem counterproductive.
