Berbatov

Don't get me wrong, if we sign Berbatov I will support him and wish he does well because if he does well the club goes well. I just don't condone his behaviour at the moment,

the only thing i think he maybe shouldnt have done is sign a united shirt, but spurs are being cnuts the way they are handling things.

We dont really know how anyone is behaving, but we do know berbatov wants to come and this could be his last chance at success so he is going to push for a move especially when its united coming in for you, you should be happy with his desire to come, if he didnt push for it, it might never happen, at least this way he is trying and he wants to be part of our team.

I think that is a good sign

You can tell he wants a move away, and it looks like he wants to push a move towards us.

We need that passion on the pitch.

My support for United is not dependant on our on field success - I'd rather we have players fully committed to the cause.

My opinion of Ronaldo will not change, until and unless he signs a new contract and decides to stay beyond this season.

My stance has always been to rid players who are unsettled, whoever their clubs.

I know what your stance is Sults, and its a fair one. I'm certainly not questioning your stance on Ronaldo

But you said it makes no logical sense to keep a player who doesn't want to be at your club. And I'm saying thats not a cast iron truth, there are plenty of examples of clubs retaining their players, and them still playing well. It makes more sense to keep a player if no other club bids an amount you're willing to accept, that's for sure

Link or you'll become a lizard soup!!!
I think its the lizard soup Diabo

Ronaldo isn't unsettled though. He's quite happy to stay at United. No comparison. Now if he'd have handed in a transfer request and made all sorts of Real noises that would have been different.

He became happy again when it became clear his bird-brained attempts at engineering a move had fallen flat. His preference was clearly to move to Madrid. That was his own choice and all, but he behaved no better than Berbatov is/has. That for me is indisputable. Asking for a transfer, and "telling the clubs of his wishes", are the same thing essentially. It's just a matter of semantics.

I'm not trying to take the moral high ground here, loyalty is easily bought and sold in the modern game. I don't like Ronaldo as a bloke(from what I know of him), but he's a cracking footballer, and the club comes first. It will be the same if we get Berbatov. I don't have to like him to appreciate what he will add to the team.

It's no surprise that Berbatov found his form pretty quickly again last season when he realised there was going to be no move. He will do it again if he has to.

Berbatov bust up - Spurs crash to Sunderland as striker is set for move to United

Tottenham 1 Sunderland 2
By IAN RIDLEY

Manchester United will strike a £30million deal to sign Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov this week after Spurs manager Juande Ramos left the Bulgaria striker out of yesterday's home game against Sunderland for not being 'focused enough'.

Ramos will meet Berbatov today to discuss his future but the player's departure seems inevitable, following his formal transfer request and the manager's decision not even to include him on the bench, as he showed a poor attitude in the build up to the game.

Without Berbatov, Tottenham crashed to a second consecutive defeat by 2-1 and they face a turbulent week ahead of taking on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge next Sunday.

Ramos, desperate for striking reinforcements before the transfer window closes, said: 'I have not selected him as I do not think he is focused enough and I do not feel that he will be good for the dressing room and the team effort. It doesn't matter how good a player is, if he is not in the right frame of mind, then he will not perform well.'

On his way? Berbatov was left on the bench

After the game, Ramos said he would be meeting the player today to decide on a way forward. 'We'll have a meeting to clarify a few points,' added the Spaniard. 'We have to wait and see in the next few days after the meeting, and make a decision to see if he is in a state for the next game - or if we have to find other solutions.'

The decision is more likely to be taken out of the manager's hands, however, with Berbatov sealing his dream move to Old Trafford ahead of the deadline a week on Tuesday.

The transfer of the Bulgaria striker has been in the balance because of a breakdown in talks between the clubs, with Spurs reporting United to the Premier League for allegedly making an illegal approach to the player.

Spurs' insistence on a £35m fee also stalled the deal, but the breakdown in Berbatov's relationship with Ramos and other Tottenham players makes holding on to the striker they signed for £11m two years ago seem counterproductive.

George Smith feels the horse has finally bolted in North London. I wonder where Sir Alex Ferguson was this morning when he heard the news that Dimitar Berbatov was dropped by Ramos and made to train with the youth team this morning. No doubt music to the ears to the Scot and you feel a welcome boost to Manchester United - the horse seems to have finally bolted at N17 and this long running saga will hopefully reach a conclusion.

I know there has been a huge amount of debate with regards to Berbatov and whether he is the ideal man to fill the void. Many have suggested that we would better off going for Huntelaar, as he is more of a predator than the Bulgarian and will cost a damn sight cheaper. I personally believe that there is an argument to bring in both strikers, but given finances are clearly what they are, Sir Alex sees Berbatov as the more complete package. In all honesty the club are crying out for someone of his abilities, the Cantona esque presence and a player that is just as adept in leading the line on his own or playing in a two or three pronged attack. His flexibility is certainly invaluable and the prospect of him linking up with Ronaldo and Rooney whets the appetite.
Sir Alex played it all down this morning and suggested that he may have to make do with what he is got, but I'm sure he knew weeks ago that he had it in the bag. News of Berbatov being dropped due to his lack of focus will no doubt have David Gill on the phone this evening to finalise a deal; a new signing has been a long time coming, however I do feel that Berbatov will certainly be worth the wait.

so Berbatov 9 was right on the money.

brilliant when these ITKs come through.

Do we want a player who shows no loyalty to his club?

What happens if he wants a move to Barca or Real in 2 years?

We have plenty of players that showed no loyalty to their old club. Evra,Saha,Rooney and Rio is just a couple of examples.

Did any of them hand in a transfer request? No

All the clubs were willing to sell to United.

Rooney handed in a transfer request. Saha and Evra threatened to strike and refused to practice. Rio told the Leeds fans he was going to stay and the day after he joined United.

Hargreaves publically declared his desire to join us as well.
