Berbatov

I'm very surprised he survived his first season, considering how Benitez' buy players only to sell them a year down the line. His one moment of fame was his goal against the Firemen and Bakers FC in the cup.

People have been talking about him and Anderson as the next great Brazilian partnership, even after he's done so little at Liverpool. He's still their fourth/third choice centre mid so he might get slightly better as the years go by. That is if he makes it through next summer.

Better finisher

Very debatable, since neither are overly great finishers. I thought you'd say that after the amount of goals he scored in pre-season, but you'll not find many who will agree on that one.

kinnell - this is agonising

what's Shittu doing these days - can't he get a few of his boys together and kidnap Berb? Put him up in a b&b somewhere and claim he was forced to sign for Spurs two years ago - we could even claim compensation for loss of merchandising over the period

come on Gilly, shake a leg mate.

Sorry for wasting your time reading that - i am so sorry - i'm very humbled that you did read it though, thank you kindly!

I have other pieces that might be of some interest to you - maybe this one will gain your respect - its some of my best work:

The Genome: Have it Your Way

Most people are familiar with the Burger King slogan..

Right...

So why is Berbatov worth twice as much as Amauri

For one, he's the better player and everyone can see that. Then there's the fact that Spurs are quite good at driving a hard bargain. Thirdly, he won't cost twice as much since you can't put a real price on the transfer deal between Amauri to Juventus.

As is Berbatov, although fair enough Amauri is better. And...

I'm very supportive of us getting Berbatov, but that's not really true. Berbatov is good in the air overall, pretty good at flicking on. But he is certainly not good considering his height, and doesn't do well winning headers in the box unless he's largely unmarked.

Which he probably will be when Ronaldo, Vidic, and Rio are forward on corners. I loved that one he took on a half volley last year where he just turned into it, that said he is a far better player when the ball is below the waist, preferabbly on the ground

There is no chance of Barca scuppering any deal for Berbatov.

Ramos admitted last week there was no contact from Barca, and besides, for them to sign another player was dependent on the sale of Eto'o, which didn't, and won't happen now that he is cup-tied for Europe (along with Henry).

Remember, Gudjohnsen is parked on the bench too, so they have no room for Berbatov.

The player Barca were interested in was David Silva, but with him signing a new deal, that ended there, but they couldn't have afforded him anyway without offloading Eto'o.

I see several of morning rags are running with some form of Barca interest in Berbatov, with the ever reliable Sun stating Spurs would rather sell to Barca than us, with quotes from their Spurs insider.

The sad thing is, there are people out there that will actually believe it.

He's not great at attacking the ball but he is an accurate header of the ball and can get good power in his headers. He impressed me last season aerially though, much more so than in his first season. I think he scored 5 or 6 headers.

Berbatov has arrived!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Berbatov will be a revelation at United.

In his two years at Spurs, he scored 27 and had 22 assists in the Premiership. In those two years, the only players better those stats were Ronaldo and Rooney.

It's frightening to think what he can achieve at United, if he did that with Spurs, especially as he will be lining up alongside the only two players to better him, and be playing with far superior players in general.

Anyway, I'm signing off. If I get any news in the morning I'll post it asap.

Totally agree with that in bold. Point taken on accuracy

Also good point Alex, though Spurs have had some good headers as well, so I suppose we can only hope to get a chance to find out
