Benjamin Sesko | Despite Raees best efforts he’s joining Liepzig. Damn you Raees

What do we think a reasonable price would be for Sesko?
Lets face it we are pretty desperate for a centre forward and he seems like the best one that is actually available.
£30m, £40m? I don't mind £40m if Antony is really not going to happen, we just cannot go into the season with Martial as the only recognised CF.

Anyone heard Kings of Leon's song "sex on fire?"

could easily change some lyrics and scream yyyyyeeeaahhhhh our Sesko's on fiiiiiirrreeee.

first thing that jumped out to me. Oh and he looks a real decent player

Is there anyone who hasn't?

It wasn't fake tweet. @jb8521 confirmed it, his agent met Murtough and also Newcastle.
But the tweet was made out to be referencing a Kurier report which the newspaper confirmed to be nonexistant? So literally a fake news tweet.

Because it at least shows some solid interest
It's because it shows there's more than a passing interest. Prior to that it was just speculation

Good source on here already told us we'd spoken to Salzburg over Sesko. This latest update has just told us "it's complicated". Complicated doesn't sound like a reason to celebrate.

Probably realistically worth £20m at this stage. Probably worth paying up to £25m considering our situation. I would hesitate if they want more than £30m. Not just for the sake of overpaying, but it would put huge pressure on a player who's not at the point in his career where he could justify it. Same reason we shouldn't be negotiating with Ajax for Antony given the prices they've quoted. As long as Salzburg are open to selling for less than £30m I'd be excited.

Every serious sale will be complicated. That’s the start.

Think it's going to have to be Martial money. 36M+ a tonne of clauses.

We need to buy a striker if ronaldo leaves, there is no 2 ways about it. Buying a back up left back and another CB is not good enough.

Looking at the updates from de Jong thread, this sounds like a done deal.

I know they are part of the same Red Bull family and all but he is still a Salzburg player.

These prices make it feel criminal how City signed Alvarez for £14m.

After watching some compilations all I can really say with any certainty is that he's surprisingly agile for someone so tall. He doesn't have that awkward movement that someone like Nunez or Crouch has. He's the baby if Big Bird fecked a gazelle.

It’s a bit baffling, his touch is always teetering on the verge of a Lukaku-esque disaster, his weight of passing always seems a bit off, yet they somehow came off most of the time. So you are left wondering whether hes one of those players like Suarez who isnt the most refined with their skills but get the job done no matter how the opponents try to stop them, or it’s just a matter of time until they stop working and you are left with a donkey.

His attitude and work rate seemed top-notch though, without the caveat of ‘for a big man’, so that’s nice.

This absolutely nails it. What he tries seems to be coming off more often than not, but just about  It’s quite a ride watching him

So Greenwood, Ronaldo, Cavani and Lingard out. Sesko in. Martial rehabilitated. Who plays right wing if Sancho is injured?
Rashford, Elanga, Amad, Facundo. Bruno or Donny at a stretch. Or a formation change to suit players available. A 4222 could work with Bruno and Eriksen at 10. Just an idea, don’t shoot me!

It was already annoying, but that horrific celebrity cover at the start of covid took it to a whole new level
Fair enough, I had stricken that from my memory. I also hated the radio 1 cover of times like these. Fricking mullered one of my fave foo fighters tracks. Charity records are basically trash. I think band aid is still basically the pinnacle of trash celebrity charity songs. Eugh!

His agent (google translate as I'm too lazy to do it myself) on visit to England / Newcastle:

"I would not comment on the Newcastle matter. Regarding Benjamin's future, I can only say that he is happy in Salzburg and that all decisions in the future will be made as in the past; based on a careful analysis, what is the best step for its development and when is the right time for it"

Dont know the reliability of the journo

Translates as : Benjamin sesko agent met with man united sporting Director john murtough it probably doesnt mean anything but still information

This was the original source of the story who reported Sesko's agent meeting Murtough. And it was also reported in Slovenia about United being very interested in the player along with Milan and Newcastle. They also delved deeper and said United tried signing the player in 2019, when he was 16, but the £1.6m offer was rejected.

They've also reported about a potential buy and loan back as a option.
