He's good but think he's been a bit overhyped since the City game especially, he's improved defensively but he's still not exactly solid and tends to get caught out of position a bit.
I don't think he'll be moving this summer, based on what Castles reported Monaco are demanding.

I don't think it'd be much of a competition. Shaw can't even get ahead of Darmian, Young and Blind.
Yes he was the one who got burned. It happens, not that big of a deal when you know how valuable Mendy's offensive skills are but yes his defending is quite questionable.
Are the players in Monaco still not paying any tax on earnings?

I hear ya, but is that enough for Jose, he can be a bit old school in that dept, in that his defenders are first and foremost good defenders.He has had attacking full backs in Cole before, but he was also a quality defender in his prime. I haven't seen a lot of this lad play, in fact hardly any at all if I am honest. But I hear the same things about him, great going forward, suspect at the back. Last night prime example, he was excellent in that first goal, but then got schooled on their goal.I'm not against signing attacking full backs, in fact would be for it, but just not convinced Jose would be.

I'm in Monaco at the moment and last night I met the girl who has basically been...physically-involved, let's say - with Mendy ever since he moved to Monaco last summer. She goes to Uni here and has been spending alot of time at his place but stopped short of calling him her boyfriend.
Anyway, he has apparently told her that he's 100% certain to come to the PL in the summer and that it's between Chelsea, City and United.
She reckons he'll go to Chelsea but that might be wishful thinking because she's going to continue her studies in Westminster next year.
She also said that he's prone to partying a little too much and would be even better than he is now if he was fully focused on his football.
I asked her to tell him to choose United next time she sees him (which was supposed to be later that night). She promised to do so.

Really like him from what I have seen. At the same time I would rather Shaw got fit and consistant again, was just starting to look like a proper player before the big injury and has been average (though harshly treated) since returning
Fantastic left back. Would love him at United, but I so desperate to see Shaw be a success here.
There's nothing stopping us from having them both. Never seen this guy play but we desperately a specialist in that position, we can't wait around for Shaw to sort his head out.

Doesn't look anywhere near as good as Evra, but still looks quality all the same.

Unfortunately Shaw is not much competition these days.
If it was between not signing a new LB and sign Mendy, I'd sign him.
If it was between signing Mendy, Alex Sandro, Emerson, Alex Telles and Bertrand? Then I'd pick him over Bertrand. Not over the others.
Why: Built more like a tank/destroyer/CB, than a FB. Somewhat similar to Valencia in the physical department and technical(limited), only better crosses.

He's better than all of them except Sandro
He's definitely an upgrade on Shaw in an attacking sense. 1 of the best crossers of the ball from fullback. Stamina like Valencia also! can see him at City though unfortunately.
He is a beast going forward, no doubt. Looks a bit suspect at times defensively.
