Just had SSN on and sounds like he's linked with just about every top PL club.
Now Shaw looks like he's willing to fight for his place and starting to play well it'd be hard for me to get excited about Mendy. He's very good though and would be an asset for any team who signed him.
Fabinho is class. Would much rather we go for him
Don't understand the preference to keep Shaw around. I'd like him to make it here, but if Mendy is willing to come it'd be a huge upgrade. He's only a year older and already much better.

Shaw is bound to shine in his career, He is taking a little time but he'll get there.
If you looked at Mendy last year under Michel he was wank, things change quickly at that age. So if you apply the same logic to Shaw with a bit of confidence he is perfectly able to be as good as Mendy next year.
People said the same about Nani and Anderson, we waited years for them, not everyone with talent takes the next step up as a player. Besides, I don't see Shaw ever being as good as Mendy will be.
haw has never really been the type of fullback to influence games in the attacking third, he's been involved in a very underwhelming amount of goals since his breakthrough, great defensively though. At a team like United, fullbacks should be judged on how good they are on the ball. Mendy just seems the type to have much better composure and a better final ball.
Once again though, I hope Shaw can prove me wrong and make it here, we need some English players in and around the squad.
Last Season before the injury he was really getting to his best.
Talent isn't enough to become one of the best and one of the best is what we should be aiming for. He'll most likely have until the end of the season to change Jose's mind. With Young injured, he will get chances, it's up to him to make that position his.

If we keep on changing players we will be in 6th forever under the excuse of "transition". We won't achieve much if we don't trust our players.
So what if Mendy doesn't play well or doesn't play like Jose wants? dump him and sign the next flavor of the month?
Shaw is a big talent to just throw him away, Jose is playing him so hopefully this rumor will be settled when Shaw gets run of games.
Just to remind you so you don't feel or get another disappointment moment in your life.
Don't get your hope too much yet on Shaw. Still only 1 game.
Shaw was playing well before he got injured. Even Mendy might turn out to be a disappointment.
He was brilliant against City.http://www.skysports.com/football/n...-interested-in-monaco-defender-benjamin-mendy
What do you think about him?
Well, almost every top PL club actually need new LB. Tottenham and maybe Chelsea are ok, I would say, but rest of top six definitely need better LB.Just had SSN on and sounds like he's linked with just about every top PL club.
I'm not saying we must sign Mendy and forget Shaw. But we can't use 1 match performance as a proof that we don't need a new left back next season.
So do we roll the dice and not sign someone who is a better option now and hope Shaw becomes world class next season? How many seasons do we give him to prove he is United quality? I'm all for evaluating him on his contributions prior and over the rest of the season but if he doesn't show some glimmer of what he looked like in his first initial season, I'd move on. Starting to feel the same about Martial to be honest.Okay. If we sign Mendy, Shaw will become the 2nd choice LB. We don't know if he will be happy being 2nd choice and might leave. We don't want another Pogba situation where Shaw goes to some other team and plays like a world class LB, I am not saying he is a world class LB but he could become one in the future.
I think Shaw was bought with Bale in mind. Probably the management thought buying a LB from Southampton, would turn out to become a fine LW. Bale took time to develop thoughPeople said the same about Nani and Anderson, we waited years for them, not everyone with talent takes the next step up as a player. Honestly if we want a LB I'd like to see us go for Bertrand

As in Ryan Bertrand? Jeez
Couldnt think of a more robotic fullback
It was meant tongue in cheek lolWhat?
He'll be 28 by the time next season starts.I think he's quite good going forward, good defensively, young, English, wouldn't cost a lot, ticks a lot of the right boxes
