He's only there to watch Pearson I think.
The coaches may ask a few simple questions:
Is he big, strong, fast? No. Does he have outstanding technical abilities to compensate for the lack of these physical attributes? No.
Therefore not Manchester United quality.
I'd be worried if our coaches were that simplistic.
Good point. There's no simple formula.
I like Pearson myself. But, despite the admiration of the Cafe, he hasn't caught the eye of two successive regimes. Their business is football, and they're seeing something there, or not there.
Giving it his all, Pearson has been good, rather than dominant, at youth level. He can't really step up his effort and commitment, so has he got enough to outperform a typical PL midfielder? Because that's what's required to play for us.
Classic 'just gone on loan' injury. Wonder why that happens so often.
Fortunate that he so emphatically showed them what he was made of before it happened, though, because the real killer is when the injury comes before the loanee's had a chance to strut his stuff, and he never manages to get back into the manager's plans.
No surprise at all that he impressed, anyway. I don't think I've ever had such unwavering faith in a young player's ability to make it (well, since Wilshere was in Arsenal's academy), and from the first time I saw him too.
Can pass it through a polo mint this lad, and he knows it, which sometimes makes him think he can do anything with the ball which no one, once he gets punished a few times for mistakes, he'll learn to be more selective and conservative in the options he feels he as, like any young player only experience will improve him that's why he's here. He is a class act, and the ability his there to be seen.
Please, please try get this guy in for rest of season (sure they are trying!)
Everything about a mid fielder we need is there. Plays a simple game, very very well and inho the best player on the pitch by a street mile.
Had loads of time (sign of a good player) when others did not used the ball intelligently and with purpose and when not with the ball made it hard for the opposition.
Top, top performance, class above
I thought he gave the ball away far too many times in the first half. Much improved 2nd half. Nowhere near as good as he was against Yeovil but influential nonetheless. We definitely need him here for the rest of the season though. Very highly thought of at United.
Played a brilliant ball in the first half to send Hourihane through. Unfortunately he didn't have the pace to capitalize.
Midget boyband...Him and Blind in midfield
I seriously adore him, I'd be gutted if he wasn't given a chance.Dunno why I'm so certain, but I think he'll be a success here IF he's given a chance, which might prove to be the hard part
I'm still furious that Fletcher has played ahead of him against YeovilReally can't see how he won't be given a chance. He's been consistently brilliant for the U21s, and now impressing (so far) in his first senior spell.
Midget boyband...
Blind is 5ft 11in.
If that's a midget then I'd fear for your door frames.
Fingers crossed on that.Shame. It's so rare for a loan spell to work out these days that you'd think we'd want to capitalise on his good first impressions there and extend, and it sounds from their fans' opinions like Barnsley probably do too.
Then again, maybe LVG wants to give him a shot at Fletcher's place in the squad. Which is something he really should have done already.
