Television Beckham's Netflix documentary

In the bigger picture, there are many cringe moments in these episodes, really is just self indulgent BS......then the crowd started changing his name, ....wtf.

I miss having a player like Beckham who routinely worked magic with the ball. That whole era and those players were legendary. Will watch.

yeah there is absolutely no way his dad was telling him when he was young how corners at a late stage in the game could shape history… started saying that stuff when talking about 99

I just watched the first episode and loved it. Didn't realized his first appearance was a sub for Kanchelski. I missed that era. Ya he has his off field drama but he is also one of the hardest worker and a team player. We were lucky to have him and the class of 92.

On the 2nd episode so far, really enjoying it

They've just showed the 99 CL final. Still get goosebumps!

How did they not find this weird close up of the face when showing something from the past, cringe and laughable.

By episode 3 it's starting to become a bit like a propaganda piece. Curious to see how they handle the affaire.

The United parts were great for the nostalgia factor. Can't stand the rest of it for the constant arse licking. I fully expected him to promote Inter Miami and he delivered it like his set pieces.

Only watched the first part of the first episode but the excessive romanticizing of the halfway line lobbed goal is already a bit much for me. Does it get a bit more grounded as it goes on?

"Nah, I don't do it for the attention, I don't care about that stuff".

Get the feck out

Finished first episode - it is a good watch. The fan’s treatment of him was awful - yeah it was a stupid sending off but come on! And Hoddle - just wow!

Just finished it - very enjoyable and some great nostalgia, but by God is Posh unbearable. Came across extremely controlling and self-centred.

Props to Becks for being able to live with that unreasonable non-biodegradable expressionless cyborg.

Watched first 3 episodes now. Seeing him move to Madrid reignited how angry and disappointed I was when Fergie pushed him out. Even now it seems so petty. I’m enjoying seeing his old teammates talk about him, Seeing his awe of these players like Zizu, Figo, Roberto Carlos, Ronaldo. A lot of players are conspicuous by their absence, like Giggs, Butt. The whole thing is a powerful reminder of just how white hot United were at the peak of Beckhamania.

As time passes and I see more and more flavors of the month, some new wonderkid, it makes Beckham seem even more special. He could win games with a free kick, even after we played badly. His range of passing and his accuracy was incredible. He had a telepathic link with his forwards, where to send a ball, that made them gamble on runs In behind. It made us so much more dearly, so much harder to defend against.

Posh Spice isn’t my cup of tea, but he seems to really love his wife with the devotion of a golden retriever puppy. Yeah this whole series is mainly just brand management, but I find him to be engaging. Also, Beckham seems to be getting better looking as he ages, the fecker.

Yeah he's sheepish as feck about it, clear as day it happened and like you say, he regrets it massively.
Thought it was slightly jarring that he made it come across as it was something terrible that happened to them as opposed to something terrible he did himself.

The first 2 episodes were absolutely brilliant; the latter 2, ehhhh

Didn't get that at all. If anything Becks came across as uncontrollable hence she needed to reign him in (and failed).

But anyway I finished it last night. It's a good watch and Becks is still a hero to me but it did strike me as therapy and they attest to that at the end. There's a lot of stuff those two seriously need to talk about with someone who'll listen properly, Becks often says 'I don't know' when asked how he dealt with stuff and it's clear he wants to say stuff but won't/can't due to the 'oh just get on with it' attitude he's got built in. Even hearing that he doesn't know what effect the life has had on Brooklyn is enough to think about it. Knew they wouldn't ask probing questions about the alleged affair and I've no idea if it happened or not but pretty clear Becks was lonely and isolated and that'd be a breeding ground for a 'sympathetic ear' so to speak from Loos.

Also very clear that SAF and Becks were father and son and SAF had his nose out of joint by son doing well for himself without dad's help.

Really, I think she came across well, she was the one cheated upon, she was the one that had to put up with her husband moving around, and in some cases not been told until after the deal was done, Becks obvioulsy adores her but he shat on her a few times in my mind

How did you get that from this documentary?

Watched the first three. Good for the United bits but it's definitely incredibly arse-licky.

Victoria actually comes across well I thought.

It’s no Last Dance, that’s for sure. But then again Beckham is no Jordan.

I would’ve liked a bit more emphasis on the football side of things but I suppose that’s fitting in its own way.

living in Madrid is worse than the Gulag if you listen to posh spice

Have to agree on Victoria as opposed on all the negative comments on her. She basically followed his desire but had to look after the kids and schooling etc. Must say that as good as the first 2 episodes were - it really flagged off next 2.
