Bebe

Sorry, but I can not help it.
What do you say now Randall?

Just because he had a good sub appearance against Shanghai Shenhua doesn't mean he will ever be anywhere close to United standards. Can see him moving on soon somewhere, but I don't think he'll ever be a regular premier league player, he's big, strong and quick and got a good shot but apart from that he's comes up short in the other attributes. A pre-season friendly, no matter how good can make me forget the horror show against Wolves a few years back

Well then why didn't the rest of the team perform as well and why did we only win 1-0?

Not a comment on you, but am sick of people slagging Bebe off!

Pre-season is rarely an indication of how well a player will perform the rest of the year though.

To be fair, Bebe has hardly done anything to justify he is even remotely on the level required to break into the first team.

Encouraging two matches so far though. If he can keep up this kind of form in the Premier League then who knows.

I really hope he makes it as a footballer, would be a great story.

Anyway he did well today, one of our best players in that 2nd half. Obviously this game says nothing about his quality as a footballer as he was playing against poor opposition but still, I'm glad to see him do well.

Looks like Bebe's starting to grow up.

I'm pleased for him. He might need another loan next season if he wants to keep progressing, then who knows?

Another performance like that and he may wind up in this year's squad. But yeah, another year of development where he gets more will do him well. He's got a decent chance with us.

Did you read what Randall said? He said he wouldn't make it as a professional footballer. That was the comment that was being responded to Bosnian. Looks like he can definitely make it in China if nothing else.

I agree.

The question is whether it is appropriate to conclude - negatively - so early in a player's career- and especially when it comes to one of our own.

I think perhaps an agreement related to this question is easier today?

Must have missed that part... i just assumed he meant at United. Well he clearly is a professional footballer already, he's made a few premier league and champions league appearances. Glad for him that he recovered from his injury and he seems to be playing with confidence that we haven't yet seen from him.

You are my BEBE
My only BEBE
You score goals, from six yards out
please sir alex
dont be a bastard
and send, my bebe, away

Regardless of the opposition, all he can do is play as well as he can.

So far he's done well. We're not expecting miracles here, he may never get to the level needed to be a first team player with Manchester United. But all he can do is try his best in this pre-season, and he hasn't done too badly.

I say a lot of things in fairness.

But I am going to stick with my prediction. In 3 or 4 years from now after a few failed attempts at various clubs he will not be in a professional league

Shame he picked up the injury last season. I can see the benefits of both keeping him in the squad and loaning him out. If he does go on loan then I'd prefer it to be an English club. The Besiktas loan made little sense to me apart from the club possibly using that to try and eventually push a permanent deal there.

This has probably been said before, but I keep thinking how good he could've been if he joined us (or any other club with top training) a few years earlier. He got some very good qualities (mainly his speed and a pretty good shot) but there's obviously a lot of rather basic things lacking.

Not saying that he would've been a world beater, but I think he could've been a very good player. I know people enjoy taking the piss out of this transfer (and for good reasons really), but I can see why United took the punt although I don't understand the big fee.

If I remember correctly they had the option to sign him permanently during his loan spell? I'm not sure but I seem to remember that being part of the loan deal.

Was that ever confirmed? It was reported at that time but not on the united website or the besiktas one either.

He looked a lot sharper and confident today. Hopefully he can stay fit and get some games.

Well in fairness, there are professional leagues all over the world (China too). He will make it in one of them. Either way, you are entitled to your opinion, even though I hope he proves you wrong.

I've got a lot of respect for Bebe. One thing I've always admired is that no matter how badly he's playing, he still wants the ball and doesn't let his head drop. Its a quality that not a lot of players have.

Pleased for him today though. Besides his shooting and that he displayed some nice first time passes and there was even one with the outside of his foot to Scholes, which got him out of a tight spot. He seemed to get his head up more today and looked 10x better when he did. Instead of head down and run, he'd spot a blind alley, put his foot on the ball and give it someone else.

Just curious, why do you think he can't improve?
Is he not only going to get better?

He has done some pretty impressive things already (imo) and shown great attitude (he doesn't seem to be deterred when what he tries goes wrong),
and this is at a young age with very little expert tuition or high level experience in his locker.
Surely he can only improve from here and who knows what the limit on that will be?

Too many professional leagues around. He'l definitely make a living out of being a footballer, not one at anywhere close to United's quality though imo.

Had a nice cross to Valencia earlier in the 2nd half, fantastic speed to get space down the left and a composed square pass for his assist, probably the best move anyone made for us today.

Let's hope he gets some more time in preseason to impress.

Have to admit he showed he's not ready to pack up and go home.

Probably because he doesn't have one and all that.

is it the first time has played on the left for us? i only remember him playing on the right for us

I thought I was watching a pre-season game with a young Ronaldo

Same here. He looks to have matured since some of the raw performances from two seasons ago. He did have flashes of that Ronaldo circa 2003 about him.

I be happy if he make it for us. Was a little Ronaldo over his performance today. Have to work hard and keep his confidence. Strange as it is, him making it would probably piss some fans off. Would be so funny if he never looked back at this stage and went on to be the real deal.

It might be a one off... but he showed more today than Obertan ever did.. Hope he can keep it up.
