Would you be happy to see Jose Mourinho become next United manager?

The last para is spot on. Didn't we have like a record of not conceding during the group stages in one of our recent UCL campaigns under Fergie? It surely was not because we were gung-ho. We were very practical in our away European encounters and that is exactly how Jose plays. Jose's teams may not be the most expansive but to state that he plays boring football is a bit OTT.
We didn't play exactly like Mourinho's teams, but for all the talk of United attacking, most of the time we were built on a sturdy defence(IIRC in the late 2000's we were generally acknowledged as the best defence in the world), and aggressive counter attacking.

We played a damn sight closer to Mourinho than Guardiola though, that's for sure.

Is this really happening? Just feck off Jose. I wish there was a "failed medical" version for managers. And I hope Jose would fail that and go away for good.

Would you rather we continue with LVG as getting Poch may be very difficult?

I like Jose, yes he is a cnut but he'll be our cnut. People seem to forget SAF wasn't a saint and much he did to wind others up was often swept under the rug because he was ours.

I don't think he will ever go away for good. Just get him on board, see what happens. If he succeeds good. If not at least we can move on from him.

SAF and Jose are different type of feckers. SAF did some complaining, but he didn't throw the toys out of the pram.
But given that we have no choice, I wouldn't mind Jose here. But I am pretty sure it will be a really bad end in 2-3 years for him here.

I think if an undeniable player came through the system, Mourinho would play him. Hopefully the development/scouting system will uncover another Scholes or a Pogba.
Pereira and Fosu-Mensah are insane talents with potential as high as you can get really, two really brilliant players. Tuanzebe too is one to keep your eye out for. For all the talk of how rubbish our youth team is this is the best lot we've had in years.

I would imagine Juan Mata is already planning his next transfer from these rumours.

Maybe - but he also understood the importance of bringing through youth and wasn't a cnut to the doctors etc...

Yes, this is all correct.

SAF and Mourinho play close to the same brand of football.
LVG and Guardiola play close to the same brand of football.

Suck on that, Josè haters.

Oh please let this happen soon enough, at least the announcement! My muppet heart will never recover if this doesn't happen after all this!!

Does Maureen play Gaz United way? :(

He's a knob who's always getting into trouble. Besides, José's staff are the most smug bunch I've ever seen in football.

Could say the same for Pep. Do you remember how he handled all the medical staff after one of his defenders got injured for Bayern. I recall him sarcastically clapping to them which eventually led to them all resigning.

Either way I rather have a manager who cares and will fight to the death then have this dope in charge. When was the last time anyone enjoyed seeing a pre match press conference? All LVG does now is sulk and attack the media. It's almost laughable.

He probably has and he probably knows the answer. I think van Gaal wants to depart in the Summer himself, the job has clearly been too hard for him lately and you can feel that he's quite stressed.

Van Gaal is usually quite straightforward, but he seems to be in denial in this instance. I thought he'd come straight out and say he was leaving.

Wonder who his transfer targets will be.

Yeah they might as well put in transfer requests now with Jose in charge

I'm wondering how this is going to be delivered (if it is true). Will Van Gaal end up doing a Pellegrini-style press con announcing his departure or are United going to try keeping a lid on this until the end of the season?

He'd lose whatever control he has left if he said that though. Similar to how the team dipped when SAF announced his retirement the first time.

The way I see it, if the youth player is good enough he'll break his way in.. we need to get out of this "give the youth a chance" just because those before them did just that even if he isn't at the required standard.

I can already see Daily Mail/Fail journos writing another article on how certain people on Utd board are blocking the Jose deal and might consider Pochettino rather than Jose

This is rumored to be how the conversation started, These are rumors, dont shoot the messanger!

:lol:Gotta love this philosophy.Less than a week after someone from our academy scored against Chelsea and is having a break through season.

Neil Webb. Fergie was so hard on him, it traumatised his United-hating wife so much she spent much of her TV career slagging the club off.

He scored a good goal, doesn't mean he is or is going to be at a level we require going forward. In the majority of games he's played he has looked way short of the level needed to be a regular Manchester United starter.

The same academy product is clearly not going to take us to another level. We need a better quality of players now and if we cannot produce them, we have to buy them. We've only produced squad players for the last 15 years.

Perhaps then this would be the time to sack him, and let Giggs be caretaker again until the end of the season? I reckon we'd see a distinct improvement in the football, similar to the way Chelsea started playing better immediately after Mourinho left; it was an emotional weight of their shoulders.

My point exactly. Who was the last player to have come through the academy and became a vital part of not just the squad but the first team? I can't think of any since the 92' class. This notion that we produce such great players is a bit of a myth, we create a vast amount of players for other clubs, not so many for ourselves hence why in the last 10 plus years, our best players have been those that we've brought.
