Really struggling to see what is wrong with this article. Tell me a more exciting moment than Giggs being manager two years ago and I'll be impressed.
The day Moyes was sacked, soon to be followed by the day LVG is sacked.

Oh yes it did. Holt is an ABU bastard. The fans who want this 100% are on RAWK and Bluemoon - no way he's looking at United forums. I've looked at most of them - would say between 90-95% of posters don't want this to happen.
It's crazy this Giggs thing with the press. His press people must be paying them is all I can think of. And trying to get us to have the Neville brothers and such in key positions in the club for what? Jobs for the boys don't bloody work. Let them go out and show what they've got. If they can get sustained success over a period of several years then maybe consider them. The club is in a delicate moment, and you want to add inexperience to this situation? It's like United is a team in the 10th division and not a global organisation with serious responsibilities to sponsors, shareholders, a debt to repay, not to mention the fans - and these idiot journalists expect us to make big decisions on sentiment?

No wonder our football at national level sucks - it's all about who you know and nothing to do with ability and whether or not you've earned your position.

Sorry about the rant but on a personal level I can't stand these jobs for the boys shit - you must bloody earn your way
. None of this getting something because of who you know. It's disgusting.
I feel the same. It is indeed disgusting and counter productive. Too many top jobs in Britain go to the best networkers, not the best.

No I don't think so.

The most exciting game I've been to in the last five years was when Giggs managed (in potentially his last game). It really was an amazing memory. Obviously if we did well with Giggs it would be better than doing well with Mourinho.
Horseshit.

Do you think that it would have been better if we did well with Sir Bobby Charlton instead of doing better like we did with Sir Alex Ferguson? Even if they had around the same result (which would have been as unlikely as Giggs having the same results as Mourinho)?

The manager there is to guide the team to trophies, and he becomes part of the 'family' if he does so. Our longest serving manager hasn't had any relations with us until he joined us. Our second longest serving manager was a City captain and a Liverpool player. Would it have been better if we gave the job to Stan Pearson instead of that City-Scouser hybrid? Or if fans had their way to Bryan Robson Red Army instead of Sir Alex one?

Use your head, man.

This. Liverpool's boot room approach in the 90s is the perfect example of how to feck up a football club.

We must not be so stupid.

Well yeah if Bobby Charlton had done everything Ferguson did it would have been better. It would have been the greatest story ever in football.

Stan Pearson? why not use our own City-Scouser hybrid, Sir Matt Busby.

Sir Alex knocking Liverpool off their perch is already the greatest story ever in football.

I used that exactly. How do people think if we gave the job to a long serving player like Pearson (who was arguably our best player in that time) than to that Scouse-City hybrid, Matt Busby?

I don't think it would have been the slightest difference in the grand scheme of things. If the manager gives you trophies, nice football (something that I admit Mourinho didn't give to Chelsea in his second spell), then it doesn't matter for what club he played when he was a young one. The fact that our two most important managers of all time had no relations with United prior their appointment (with one of them spending his career playing and captaining our two most bitter rivals) should teach us something.

It would have changed nothing, adopted kids are as much loved, I don't think that people care much about Evra than they do about Neville, they don't care much about Brown than they do about Vidic and United fans love Ronaldo as much as they love Giggs.
If Mourinho comes here, act respectfully, brings trophies and goals then he will be loved.

 omg seriously?
Based on all (ok most) of your comments on this subject, you seem like the guy that lives life mainly based on sentiment and 'feelings'.

That article is a load of horse shit. I bloody love Giggs. He gave our club something to shout about for many years and he scored the greatest goal I'll ever witness but he should no way be given the privilege of managing our club yet.

The article compares Pep and Zidane being trusted but feck me they both have have astonishing teams to work with. If Giggs can turn out to be a special coach then let him prove it elsewhere.

The article also claims that any appointment is a risk but I tell you what Jose is less of a risk then Giggs.

On the one hand, it's the United way and whatever, we should not sack managers like Real Madrid do.

Next thing Real Madrid appoint an under-qualified manager and we should do exactly as they do?

I too prefer Pep, but with no other alternative, I believe Mourinho is the best option.

I don't understand this. No alternative?
There's hundreds of thousands of coaches out there, surely a handful might be suitable appointments.

You guys make it out as if the only coaches in the world are Pep, Mourinho, and Giggs. 'Pep has gone to City? We better get Mourinho, else we're stuck with Giggs.'

Take Chelsea for example. They are a big club, as ambitious as you are, wouldn't you agree?

They will have a new coach next season, and lo and behold it will be neither Mourinho NOR Giggs.
I'll leave it to you to collect the potential names, since you apparently have evaded this task so far.

Ancelotti, and if you haven't lived in a cave the past few months, he's going to Bayern.

Klopp, and if you haven't lived in a cave the past few months, he's gone to Liverpool.

Simeone, and those people who complain about Mourinho's supposedly boring football want him?

Do please come up with ONE viable alternative to Mourinho.

Blanc.

What makes you think it's realistic to go poach Paris Moneybag's manager? Whilst we're at it, maybe we should try Luis Enrique?

Also, what has Blanc done in his career that's even comparable to Mourinho? Win the French title a few times?

There are alternatives to Mourinho.

Pochettino, Bielsa, Allegri, Conte, Blanc, Pellegrini amongst others.

I wouldn't be too disappointed with the first 4 on that list. Mourinho is my number 1 choice (by far). It's silly to say there are zero other candidates though.

I stil maintain Giggs shouldn't be anywhere near the job. People comparing it to when Pep was given the reigns at Barca need to do some research.

Lest people forgot, saf was that outsider from glasgow back in the 80s, he only become one of us AFTER.

If they pick the united way back then we're probably ended up with some ex legend instead of saf
This. It's ridiculous that people seem to think that United have some mythical 'dynasty' within the club. The fact is that in 1986 we brought in a very promising manager. He wasn't anything to do with United but went on to establish himself as a legend.

We need to bring in the best man for the job not make a misty-eyed decision for a great ex-player. I have to say that I would have Pochettino. I wanted him when we binned Moyes and I think he's shown at Spurs that he can be a great manager. Happy with Mourinho too though, a proven winner. But Giggs or Neville? Come on

I think it is very unlikely that Blanc would make the switch. He is French and is the manager of the top French clubs, who have both more money and a better team than us. In addition, Paris is superior to Manchester as a place to live, for anyone, let alone French people.

But yes, he would have been a good choice if he was available.

The only semi-available choice I can think of is Pochetino, which is anything but proven, though I think that he has a very high potential.

;) FIFA Coach of the year for 2015 is going nowhere mate.

Pochettino, sure.

Bielsa? You're serious? Sure, I like him and thought that it would have been a good choice after Moyes, but come on, he is the closest thing to Van Gaal in steroids you can imagine.

Blanc isn't available, Pellegrini isn't that good as we are seeing.

Allegri might be a choice but he is the manager of the top Italian club (who also has a better team than us), and believe me, in the eyes of Italians, Juventus is a far bigger club than United.

Conte might be a choice, I agree. And he is quite good. The talk is that he's gonna leave Italy after the Euros. I am not sure though if it is a good idea to hire a manager in mid July, especially one who doesn't speak English and so would need more time to adapt. Conte's record in UCL is incredibly shit.

He dominated Mourinho last year while playing with 10 men.

It was fun to watch but PSG have a vastly superior midfield, PSG were never going to lose control of the midfield just by missing Ibrahimovic, just look how Atletico were still in the game after Filipe Luis red card.

A vastly superior midfield that Blanc assembled spending similar money to Mouinho

He didn't assembled that midfield, Leonardo did with Ancelotti.

Edit: Blanc is a head coach and nothing else, he takes exclusively care of the first team.

I love the criricism in that article of Woodward liking 'trophy managers'.

I'm glad Ferguson wasn't a trophy manager or else he would have ruined everything this club stood for, for twenty six long years

I think that it's a reference to "trophy wife", he is saying that Woodward wants a shiny manager that he can expose to the world.

Surprised you've been getting abuse for this. But absolutely spot on. Would have been an amazing story had that unfolded.

Of course that does not mean we should give the job to Giggs or that we should never consider anyone that hasn't played for United.

It's not spot on because while it would have been an amazing story, it would not have been better than winning with someone like SAF for example.

Well, no. It most definitely would have been better. Absolutely no question about that. Just like winning the treble with Giggs would be hell of a lot better than winning it with Mourinho.
