Ha ha yeah, that would probably be his greatest ever achievement, getting fans to pay off failed managers for him.He probably started it.

Assuming our board is not incompetent and still has a brain cell between them.. I can only interpret the events as follows:
- Mourinho was up for the job even back in December/January but the board was wary of replacing Van Gaal midway through the season as they did not want to be seen as a sacking club and probably gave up on the title by that point and thought we could still scrape top 4 under his management. There was also much doubt as to whether Mourinho was the right man amongst the board and thus they were not happy to pull the trigger.
- At some stage post winter, this decision was reversed and the board felt that Van Gaal was not the right man to take us forward and sounded out Mourinho for the role. A pre-contract.. either verbal or written was agreed and the only way United would renege on such an agreement was if Van Gaal won a trophy and we finished top 3, in which case he would be granted another year.
- Right now with United unlikely to make top 3, top 4 and the FA cup might not be enough to save Van Gaals job as the club are ready to commit to Jose as manager but will not officially commit to the deal because it makes no sense to sack Van Gaal now whilst top 4 is still up for grabs. If he fails to achieve his target, they can sack him for a cheaper amount so it is financially prudent to just wait until top 4 is mathematically impossible. Even if he gets top 4 they will probably still sack him but at least they will do so in the knowledge they gave it a shot at getting rid of him for less money. Furthermore they didn't want to rock the boat until all trophies have been played for, thus ensuring motivation is high amongst the coaching staff and they believe their jobs can be saved.
- Mourinho has definitely not been offered a job in 2017. He probably has but this must have been rejected in the early discussions when he was first approached, a manager like Mourinho does not sacrifice a year of his life just to wait for his 'dream' job. He seems utterly confident that he will begin his new job in the summer and he also seems adamant it will be in England and that it will be a club. All this seems to point to the fact that United are biding their time and waiting until the season is up before getting rid of Van Gaal and they want to see if they can sack him for a cheaper amount.
That would be my take on things assuming the board is not run by a bunch of morons.
He probably started it.
Those two are the ones who got us Moyes.Everything you said made sense, except your assumptions. Since Gill and SAF left, it has been made clear we are run by morons. I hope what you are saying is right though

Two highlighted words there.
In any case I don't really rate one higher than the other and I don't see why fans of each group feel the need to downplay the others achievements.
They have both done incredibly well, also Pep is yet to manage in the EPL so like I said wait and see before downplaying his work. He has also been managing not as long, very short career so far.

Not sure if you're trying to imply Mourinho was fortuitous with Porto with the bold bit, and I agree, but it was a ridiculous achievement nontheless.
Lets see how Pep does in the Premier League. I don't have as high expectations of him as others might,
Key sentences in your post mate
You think so? Shall we ask someone? The fans have started to turn though, if we make a poll at arsemania it'll be landslide jose,, probably kinda same with us with those againsy quoting romantic notions as a reason
Just asked Gooner Claude (the loud one from Arsenal fan TV) on Twitter whether the Arsenal fans want Mourinho. He simply said "split" and "it won't happen the board won't have him."There are still plenty of Arsenal fans around who want Wenger to stay
I don't really support sacking LVG but this isn't cringeworthy at all. It is a sign that enough fans are united enough to express a view. This sends a strong message.Cringeworthy.
That's just what people were speculating on here.I just thought Mou had a clause in his Chelsea severance package where he couldn't join a PL team in the same season.

Truth is the club could see this sign and sack LVG any way forking out the 5m itself. And the crowdfunded money could be used for charity.

I don't know why you're worried, your team have already secured Guardiola's services.I am hoping that failure to get top 4 will be seen as grounds for dismissal.
It has to be. Financially, it's a big blow.
Mourinho is a must. He has the best CV in world football for the job.
Can disagree with financial aspect however even top 4 but without proper title challenge counts as a failure at this point. Not reaching play off stage of Champions League after easiest group is another basis on which talk about change could be in advanced stages.I am hoping that failure to get top 4 will be seen as grounds for dismissal.

Ah right, I thought I heard or read about it in the media at the time he was sacked. Never mind, time will only tell and there isn't long for us to know for sure what is going on.That's just what people were speculating on here.
You cant donate a quid anymore, this is bullshit.Wow it's doing better than I thought it would.

So maybe the fans are not willing to put the money where the mouth is. Easier to complain and call the board morons.I dont see this crowdfunding doing anything good. 1 pound so far and its not looking good.
No he made it to raise 5 million quid to pay off Van Gaal's contract himself. Please tell me you made it in jest
