We must be funding van Gaal's retirement after his losses in the Madoff ponzi scheme. No wonder he is so fond of his Portuguese villa.

There is no transition, one extreme to the other.

You're right. Let's allow LvG to stink the place out, while the other rivals and clubs improve, for another season. And then, we can hand over the reigns to his assistant and let an inexperienced, novice manager, clean up the absolute mess that the club has found itself in post Fergie, in his first ever job as manager, at the biggest club in the world. I can guarantee you, if that comes to pass, this "transition" will become bigger and bigger as the seasons pass by

Rodgers to Klopp
Pearson to Ranieri
Rioch to Wenger
Manzano to Mr Extreme himself, Simeome
All from one massive extreme to the other. Seems to have worked out for all them wouldn't you agree?

My personal opinion though, for what's it's worth, we're not getting Mourinho so, IMO, you need not worry

This is depressingly true.

I honestly think they're waiting to see if we get 4th. Woodward may think if we get that, he can justify keeping Van Gaal on. If we don't, he has no basis of argument for keeping him on. He's giving him every last chance of staying, but surely knows in his own heart if we don't get 4th the party's over.

Its so stupid keeping Van Gaal even if he makes the 4th spot. There is no plausible way fans are going to be patient for another 12 months of this shit football and results. We aren't going to improve magically if we give him another season. No matter who we buy we won't improve, become entertaining again and challenge for the title.

LVG doesn't know any other way to improve us. If he did, he would have figured it out by now. He has only a year left in his contract anyway. Who cares if he sack him? This whole notion that United isn't a sacking club is bullshit. It makes us or rather will make us even more stupid than we already are if we don't sack him after this season.

And we aren't making a jump to some manager who isn't experienced in the premier league or in Europe. We are talking about Mourinho here. The man is a proven winner and we could do with some consistent winning right about now. I don't buy into the "he is only going to be here for a short term" argument but hypothetically if I did, right about now I would definitely take the next three to four where he comes in, gets us winning, makes us entertaining to some extent and establishes some stability.

There hasn't been a party since the City 4-2 game last April.

Who is this Samuel Luckhurst?

As far as journalists with sources go, he's amongst the worst. He scours social media looking for open wounds and provocative angles and then writes articles as if he's got information in the same way other adult journalists do.

Ah. So he is alongside Andy Mitten and Duncan Castles I see. Alright moving on. Di Marzio where you at? Even Ballbag will do at the moment.

Andy had links within the club but a lot of them are long gone and it shows in his articles these days. It's why his United peices are only opinion peices these days and he's focusing on other areas of the game.

Gerry Ball would struggle to find out when to sign on the dole, let alone which club is signing which manager/player

I disagree, he used to be a joke but as his profile has risen so have his connections. He gets a lot right these days it's just his reputation proceeds him.

The trouble for anyone vocal about "having sources" is that a lot of genuine transfers eventually don't happen for whatever reason and the players and agents who were happily feeding the journalists information are never going to come out and say "oh yeah that journalist is right, I did try to force an exit but for whatever reason it never happened".

Thinking little more on it, this "asking Mourinho to wait one year" makes even lesser sense. Imagine from Giggs pint of view. Why would then he want to continue as assistant for another year, under a coach, who, by looks of it, he probably doesn't agree on few things at very least? And then if Giggs leaves this summer for job elsewhere I think LvG will have more problems dealing with seniors as well as youngsters. Giggs is important link for LvG with players. So, if our board has seriously thought of asking Mou to wait another year, which in itself is preposterous, thinking about impact of it on current coaching staff in general and Giggs in particular just makes a recipe of a season where no one on coaching staff giving a feck about what goes on. They all will be on way out anyway.

..and Mou may not have many options right now as Real Madrid are likely to continue with Zidane so it is down to just and PSG currently but during next season, invariably some big club somewhere will underachieve and Mou will be in reckoning for that job.

22nd May can't come soon enough.

Do you honestly think they take any notice of what the fans want?

Because we have been patient. Patience is already waning thin and hanging by a thread. We just don't do stuff until its like a last resort because we trust the club will make the right decision. There will be protests next season if he is still here.

Nonsense. No decision has yet been taken on Van Gaal, let alone Mourinho. Why would we need to chase him? He's the one out of a job with no other decent job on the horizon, and for that reason is desperate to get the Utd job. We hold all the cards, he holds none.

As they did with Moyes, the Board won't make a decision until or unless 4th is unattainable. That should become clearer by next Tuesday evening.

It's easier for mourinho to get a top 10 job rather than united getting a top 10 manager.

We hold the card? The only card we're holding is an "sos mourinho" cardboard

Utd is the only current possibility of a top job for him. There's no one else. You honestly think Mourinho's ego would let him take a "top 10" job? Everton?

We're Mourinho's only hope of a top job, and there's no certainty there will be a vacancy. He has no cards whatsoever to play.

If fans stop buying merchandise and not turn up for the games, they will notice.

It won't happen though will it, for every season not renewed you can be sure someone will snap it it. For every replica shirt not sold in the UK, someone over in China will buy one. There is to many "fans" of this club who'll continue to throw money at the club even through bad times for anyone else to make a difference.

Correct.

I will chip in, 100 pounds. If thats a matter of money Red Caf can well afford to get rid of that Idiot.
Crowdfunding. This doesn't have to be a joke: today, these things are very possible. With the level of feeling among fans and a big online community like this, it could be arranged. What better gift to the club and fellow fans than a cheque, from RedCafe, to facilitate the end of this nightmare?

I'm pretty sure we'd get some rawk style ridicule from other fans. But then it's a lot more productive than turning up with something incoherent scrawled on an old bed sheet.

I wouldn't bank on the loyalty of fans in Asia. They've no geographical or historical ties to United, so why should they stick with the club when it stops winning?

In the last few years the season ticket waiting list has been whittled down from about 5,000 to zero. The idea that people are queuing up to buy season tickets at United in this day and age is pure fantasy.

No more fantastic than thinking swathes of supporters will stop buying merchandise or attending games. They won't. A few will, but not enough to have the necessary impact on revenue.
