Would you be happy to see Jose Mourinho become next United manager?

There's a lot less variables with this tbf. If I remember rightly Vidal confirmed we'd made an offer. hence the rumours, but he just decided to go elsewhere. With Mourinho it appears that if we want him he's ours.

Hope you're right. I was more referring to the activity of this thread, the pages just grow and grow very quickly everyday without much happening, i log in everyday and its gone up 6-7 pages similar to the Vidal thread at the time.

Yeah I keep checking here for news. I think subconsciously we just all want to be along for the ride. We know it's going to end in tears but hey, at least 'I was there'.

Zidane was signed this year until 2018. I know Madrid is a circus and all, but why would they sign their fan favourite as manager for 3 years if they wanted to keep their summer option open for Mourinho?

The word "embarrassing" gets thrown around a lot on here, but people like you truly deserve being called it:rolleyes:
It has become pretty easy to navigate the board while ignoring a select few who just bang on and on about the same negative things over and over. Some of it has permeated their rational thought and makes its way to the surface every now and then to ruin discussions. Sometimes it is fascinating to read their obsessive points of view. I've become pretty good at ignoring them, skipping over those posts and moving along.

Nobody, of any significance is saying that the is deal definitely is NOT on.

That tells me that, at present, it is a goer.

But without the signature on the dotted line, things can change.

United can't say anything because of their contractual arrangements with LVG

Mourinho had to keep quiet because of a probable non-comp clause in his contract. (This may have now become void because of Chelsea's appointment of Conte allowing Mou to make slightly more overt moves to secure his future)

It does now appear that Mourinho is having a problem handling the silence and, as speculation grows to fill that silence, he is seeking reassurance that the handshake will be honoured.

If this doesn't happen it will be my first meltdown. I will be immature and I will act like a baby about it.

As I'm not massively in favour of Jose managing United, I'm going to have a little chuckle to myself when this thread becomes another legendary muppet thread along with Thiago, Benzema, Ramos et al.
It will have the same outcome, too.
This. The laughs will be endless.

My favorite transfer rumor was, back in the day, a Melbourne player was alleged to be leaving because they had put their TV up for sale. Does anyone know if Mourinho sold his TV in london, that would prove he's coming in my opinion

At this point I don't see how any Utd fan could take any pleasure in this not happening? Unless getting to laugh at people you don't know on the internet is more important to you than the success of the club.

Do you remember the Melbourne player in question?

Loads of reliable sources have come forward and said it's done, plus @Acquire Me is putting his Caf account on the line and is saying it's done. So chill, it probably is, no point announcing it now and potentially derailing our season as we make a push for top 4 while City stumble.
Not sure @Acquire Me will be able to venture onto the internet ever again if Mourinho doesn't come. He's in this for everything he's got.

It will be Chernobyl levels of meltdown should this not occur. It will be the great depression on here if we are trudging along with LVG playing shithouse football, midtable and Rooney is playing every game.

Is your source still adamant that this is happening mate? It is being made to seem like the club are not 100% sure on his appointment.

He is still 100% sure. It would make no sense in hell if this was false information. It would be like stealing from yourself big time if this did not happen now.

Was it AFL or A league?

I recall one match we had against Chelsea when Mourinho had like two proper counter attacks against us and scored from one, then shut up shop. That's an actual tactic.

League table position is one aspect of the club, albeit an important one. By stability I also refer to coaching, scouting, youth, training, player relationships, politics and commercialisation. Losing SAF and Gill, then getting Moyes was as chaotic as you can get for a behemoth like United.

So Mourinho used some kind of negative tactic against a big team, what's new? Problem is when we're using such negative tactics (it's not really negative tactics though, it's just ineptitude of our fellow Dutchman) against mid table/lower table teams and get plenty of those results, as I've said, with 1-2 shots on target the whole game. It's pathetic and unbearable to watch.

League table position is probably the most important aspect of the club as other branches of it that you've mentioned are closely connected to it. With our progressive regress (now that's beautiful of me) we'll start losing sponsorship deals, players will be reluctant to join us, make it be first team or academy so in the end yeah, that's the focal point of a football club. Results. Is LVG in charge of our commercial side of things? Nope. Is he in charge of our academy? Neither. But he can indirectly influence those sectors so he's not much of a help in the stabilisation process if he's not winning games.

Stabilisation process should be done by the club as a whole, in spite of LVG, not thanks to him. And the stabilisation process will be continued without him.

I spoke to (gasp) a real life friend, and knowledgeable United fan, last night. He is in favour of LVG getting another year - firstly because he thinks LVG has "not done that bad considering all the injuries" and secondly because the main available alternative (Jose) doesn't play good football either. He said a year is a long time in football and better options may be available in another year's time.

All reasonable points to be honest and its interesting to hear what the wider (non-caf) world is thinking.

I really fecking hope we want him, but I'm not so sure now. I think it's obvious he wants the job though.

What's gasp short for? I know, just kidding

I've heard this line of reasoning before and I still don't buy it. The fact remains we've regressed from last year after spending huge amounts of money and the football is also atrocious. I also don't see the rationale in giving him the extra year to build a foundation since he'll bugger off after that anyway leaving us in another managerial limbo, or even worse - Giggs.

Any other big club in Europe would have sacked Vangle back in December - at the latest. For some reason we seem to have a high threshold for failure.

You can't just blame injuries on everything that's went wrong this season. Plenty of games where we've had the first team out and played awful football with awful results.

Mourinho's football is a lot better than this. Another season of Vangle is just going to mean Giggs gets the job

Im still convinced this is done. Its very similar to Moyes, IMO. As soon as fourth is mathematically out of the equation, Jose will be confirmed. Lvg will probably see out the season, and be allowed to retire with a bit of dignity, and theyll probably spin it as mutual consent or whatever, but i really struggle to see a scenario where Mourinho isnt here for next season.

Welcome to the internet.

I come here every day, hoping for news. I fully expect LVG to be our manager next season, regardless of results, but I'd love to see something other than conjecture regarding Mourinho!
I'm beginning to believe that LVG will be here next season too. I think his introduction of young players into the squad my has brought him enough support on the board for him to finish his contract.
