Would you be happy to see Jose Mourinho become next United manager?

Why would Mourinho insist on a decision by 1 May? If he hasn't got a job by that stage, he might as well wait until the end of the season, surely? None of Europe's big clubs are going to change their manager between now and the end of the season, so why on earth would he be putting pressure on United to make a decision at this stage.

Who has said anything about a decision by 1 of may? Pressure is also a lot of bullshit. He has signed and will be our new manager. Its just not announced yet.

Curve ball time......

I would think most of the national teams in Europe will want a new manager after the summer. Perhaps he will take over a national side for a couple of years?

Keep hoping this is a done deal. Can't wait to have a proper top modern manager at the club. It's been a while.

To be fair Acquire Me, you have been consistent and very sure of your source but unless your source is Jose himself I don't think you can really state with certainty that he has signed a contract. Happy to be proven wrong once you reveal your source of course

Nah. He's reiterated numerous times, most recently on BT Sport, that he'll be back in England for next season.

Can't see him coaching internationally anyway at the moment, I think he would get too bored with himself in between tournaments.

I doubt he even has a source

And Jamie Jackson knows absolutely nothing so no point listening to his nonsense

I really want to believe you.. You have been saying this for the last 20 pages at least..

I hope it happens.. For the club's sake as well as yours.. God forbid if it doesn't go through, you sir are in for some severe backlash from folks here.. Probably not from me as I might be too griefstruck to carry online pitchforks.. :nervous:

If it does happen.. Please reveal your source and how you came to know in a separate thread.. :)

Yup got to agree here. I got a fair bit of stick the other day when I said I think he may well be here next season. I mean, it wold be a travesty and would make for another unbearable season, but all the 'LvG being sacked / leaving rumours' have died, for the most part anyway. The Mourinho hype machine is in full drive but most of that appears media / tabloid driven. I'm definitely worried that he might be here next season.
Don't worry. There's not been much else to say about it all since what Bedy Moratti said apart from the odd article by people like Jackson looking for hits. Seems to be all wrapped up imo.

Either you will be a caf hero or will be brutally ripped apart by the caf.
On another note who are we signing?

I wish I knew mate. I guess we are working hard as we speak.

That Spanish paper that said we have to pay him 5m if he isn't our manager by then.

It could be that he has signed a contract like that, but the decision to have him as our new manager is made. The spanish paper made it look like the decision is not done yet, and thats not right.

There are rules about these agreements. The FA (?) have to be notified within a certain period of time..I think it s a month (maybe) but I did read about this rule somewhere!

This has to be the worst kept secret in football. I would be amazed if Mourinho wasn't our new manager. Too many things, which all line up, plus we've had:

- Bedy
- Marcotti
- Balague
- El Pais
- No LVG in promo tour video
- Woodward being a whore

di marzio and as the title says BBC as well.

I think this is just to keep the players motivated under LVG. They're trying not to do a City.

But I reckon Mourinho is already signed up.

I really hope so. I'll be delighted when it's announced but at the moment I'm treating it with trepidation. I'm probably just being cynical given how things have gone post Fergie and logic says that this just has to happen; it does doesn't it! :nervous:

My lack of enthusiasm about Mourinho is probably why I don't give a shite about the latest rumouurs. I just prefer him to Giggs. Heck, I would even prefer Steve Bruce to Giggs. My preferred choice once Pep was out of the picture is Pochettino.

Presumably the only thing stopping him being appointed now is an agreement with Chelsea not to take a job for the remainder of the season, otherwise it would be useful for him to get in as soon as possible to get his office chair adjusted correctly and throw away all the Doritos packets that Louis has stuffed into his desk drawers.

I know you're not entirely serious but i doubt Mourinho would even want to take over at this stage of the season.

And it would be sort of pointless anyway, it's April tomorrow and the season ends in what 5 weeks from now.

No, if he's getting the job, and he can start now, get him in so he's ready for next season. There is work to be done.

doing the rounds on Twitter that Berta told Atletico he's gone and they are looking for his replacement. They seem to think Jose and Berta are Manchester United bound.

Wasn't there a rumour about Berta having to say either yes or no till Easter? Coincidence?

Ideal scenario - top 4 finish and FA Cup win. Mouriniho takes over and tries to get a title winning team with the platform of CL football and no trophyless stigma.

Probable scenario - Europa League football and Jose comes into a club who has won nothing in 3 years.

Disaster scenario - Europa League, no trophy, Van Gaal to see out his contract

So.... April 1st.
Wonder how many april fools there will be about our manager situation.

Or, LvG wins us the the top 4 trophy thus getting his final year, he then sells our few remaining decent players, has a utter disaster next season, and we have to appoint Giggs because all the top managers are tied to other clubs.

The thing is you could see it happening.

I can understand your eagerness for him to start now. But i just don't see what it would achieve. It isn't going to affect how the season is going at this stage in my opinion.

If Mourinho is taking over he will most likely already be discreetly scouting players and making contact with some through Mendes. While passing targets onto Woodward. If anything actually being in charge of the team right now could distract him from any behind the scenes work he may be doing.

Not to mention a change of manager a month before the end of the season could potentially disrupt the side and have a negative effect. Mourinho won't want to be associated with this seasons failure. And Woodward most likely doesn't want to sack his pick during the season, probably preferring to pass it off as LVG retiring in the summer.

So yeah i just don't see it happening.

Mourinho: 'I will not be Manchester United manager'

Former Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho has ruled himself out of the running for Manchester United manager. In a statement released this morning, Mourinho stated that he was not in the running for the job and wished to end speculation over Louis Van Gaal's future.

Mourinho said "there have been rumours, but that's all they are." and "Louis Van Gaal is manager of Manchester United and I respect him as a man."

Mourinho has been widely tipped to succeed Louis Van Gaal and United manager, however, speculation emerged in the last few days that he could take over as Valencia manager after the dismissal of Gary Neville.

Louis Van Gaal is expected to continue as Manchester United manager for one more season, however he has stated in the past that he would be open to a contract extension.

april fools

Does this mean that United have to pay José that compensation thingy as pre-contract or can we assume that this whole pre-contract stuff was made up by the media?

We'll know for sure it was rubbish if he goes to Valencia (he wouldn't be allowed to sign for another club if he'd signed a pre-contract with us, unless we greed to release him from it).

Personally, I'm not quite so sure about the pre-contract thing. As far as I can see, he wants us more than we want him so there'd be no need for us to tie him down.

Given a free choice I'd go for Pochettino over Mourinho any day of the week.
