As one or two others have said this is three years too late for United if Mourinho does indeed become your next boss. Mourinho should have been the one who replaced Ferguson.

This is true to an extent. Mourinho is cool when the results are going well, he has a step to his swagger, calls someone a loser and in general looks amazing. Its when the results don't go well coupled with having a rival who would bring out his inferiority complex that you see the worst in him, the whining, moaning, abusing physios, fighting assistants etc.

Right now his rep is at his absolute lowest in his career, so if he starts with us and loses a few early games, it brings back a ton of demons and people start wondering if he's truly lost it and its a continuation of his downfall from his last Chelsea season. Then you have Pep next door, doing well, playing great football and Mourinho will start picking fights within the club and in general turn into a pest. The team morale could take a big hit and not recover, the club is already facing its own low point since Ferguson retired.

Mourinho should have taken over the squad that walked the league and won us the champions league. Right now we need a more organic manager than Jose.

TBF Mou has lead 3 of the most difficult clubs in football, clubs who wanted instant success and wouldn't settle for less than that year after year. That's hardly an environment to develop youths in
It's going to be exactly the same at United. Instant success will be demanded.

Pros of Mourinho:
  • Has won the PL 3 times and knows the league
  • 2 time Champions League winner
  • Won the league in 4 different countries
  • Won a few domestic trophies
  • Has a good reputation with players worldwide
  • Has made his teams very hard to beat
  • Held a very long home unbeaten streak
  • Wants to manage Manchester United
Cons of Mourinho:
  • Does not stick around long
  • Falls out with some players
  • In recent years has played very defensive football
  • Does not favour young players
  • Likely to drag the club in to repute with his actions (Eva scandal, eye gouging etc.)

I was unsure to include building a legacy because I think his first Chelsea team was very succesful and was essentially used by later managers to win another Premier League title and Champions League title. Also he is in cahoots with Mendes which can either be a good or a bad thing.

I think though, the positives outweigh the negatives.

He has an impressive cv, so this should be a no-brainier towards going after him. However, I feel the majority of the club he has been to, he has brought a negative atmosphere to the dressing room.
I m a fan of the winning mentality he brings to any teams he manages, but not so much about his approach towards achieving that goal. Perhaps this time around he will not leave so much destruction around because he was struck by a lightning called humility at Chelsea. Www

Told you guys, that I was 100% sure that Giggs wasn't going to be our next manager.

What I have noticed in this thread is that some United fans definitely don't know the club as much as they think they do. Mourinho is a cnut, yes, but so was SAF. The difference? SAF was ours, we loved him and still love him because he brought us trophies and gave a lot to the club. Ask any opposition fan what they think of SAF and they''ll probably answer you with this: "He is the worse!"

Mourinho will surely make our club great again. We stick with Van Gaal and then Giggs and we might as well go down the Liverpool route.

Twiggi is like super anti-Mourinho to the point that it seems like he is trolling. Did he fuk ur wife or something?

Fackin 'el mate, He has only struggled once in his entire career so far. I think it was good that he struggled last year, it will make him a better manager going forward.

Imo Jose walked into a relatively easy job. Ranieri built the foundations initially and then made them a force in Romans 1st year. He signed Makele,Lampard and Duff as well as bringing
Terry into the 1st team and before he got the sack had deals in place with Robben and Cech. His Chelsea finished 2nd to Arseals invincible season and got to the semi's of the CL.

Jose got it all handed on a plate as well as a blank cheque book.

For me it's always been Ranieri who started the Chelsea story

It was a thing united fans invented in their minds, to drown themselves in the misery.

As in trophies? I doubt it. He wouldn't get sacked if he finished top 4 here
He won't get sacked, but fans will start getting on his back, especially:
1. if/when Pep starts winning just across town
2. season #1 of Jose is likely to be "park the bus"

Van Gaal himself was calling giggs the next manager. Even the article in the OP says giggs is considered the next choice.

OK. I personally don't think fans would boo him or anything if he was top 4. It's not comparable to Madrid and Chelsea like the original point was anyway

He's a cheat. That will stoop to any level to win a football match. Some of the tactics he gets his players to perform are unsavory.
Bizarre to see some idiots comparing the behavior of Fergie and Mourinho. Like night and day, despite Mourinho being a top class manager.

Two and half season gone for us without a sniff on any trophy. I am all for his appointment as he is a serial winner and should instill the us against them mentality again which seems to be gone from our team.

You would have thought he learned from his experiences at Real, Inter, Chelsea the first time...

This season at Chelsea was a lot more disastrous than anything he's been through. I mean I don't expect him to change completely but surely some reflection on his whole medical team episode should teach him something.

His reputation as one of the best managers in the game buys him enough time, I think. There's absolutely no guarantee that Pep will hit the ground running, nor any guarantee that Mourinho will behave poorly if things don't all go well from the start. You've made up a lot of possible scenarios and then decided against him, when there's every chance that things won't go the way that you think. I can understand reservations, but I just can't see who we can get as a manager right now that is a better choice.

I see someone mentioning Klopp as someone we should have been after before going for José. Wtf. Klopp over José is crazy talking and just plain stupid. José is the better manager and one of the best in the world.
Is hilarious:lol:

I'm no fan of Mourinho but him over Klopp is as easy a choice as it can get

I don't like him. So I don't want him. But if he comes I'll support him like I supported SAF Moyes and LvG.

If we could get behind Moyes, I dare say we can give Mourinho a chance.

Can't wait for signings like Kalou, Johnson, Ivanovic, Falcao and Pedro. What a record this man has.

He's only fallen out with players like Mata, Ronaldo, Casillas and Fabregas as well.
You do realize even Fergie let the likes of Stam leave which he himself admitted was an error. He even let the likes of Rossi, Pique and Pogba leave for peanuts while we hoarded crap like Bebe and Obertan.

Even LVG got rid of Welbeck in favor of Falcao which was a big mistake in hindsight. Not to mention keeping Rooney as the only senior striker and getting a relatively unproven Frenchman on deadline day who has had to be our saving grace so far.

Managers make mistakes but if you only consider them then there is a big chance you would also feel SAF is not the right man for the job.

Sure, the present need of the club may require a greater risk for the greater good. But there's no need to wank yourself dry. Have some dignity. If you disliked his antics before there no reason to fall in love with him because he's wearing our color this time.

If he's such a serial winner, why is it too much to demand trophies from the go when he'll be backed by all the riches? After all, we won't be hiring him for his club building asset, it's his trophy record, "to put us on the map again". I expect entertaining attacking football because you know he did it with Madrid. I expect youths like Januzaj, Pereira, Wilson, CBJ (not Martial, Shaw and the likes who can contribute like seasoned veterans) who require patience, protection and guidance to be given chances. Why not? He did it with the likes of Santon, Balotelli and many others.

I'll not be surprised if Mendes is involved in most of the transfers, again. At least, De Gea rumours should hold no credibility.

Put a behavior clause in this smug cnut's contract if he really wants to manage us. After all, Suarez really wanted to play for Barca, his behaviour clause is putting him in check. And just to stay on the safe side give him a 2+1 yr contract or with a termination clause. We should not have to pay him a huge sum for his dismissal once it goes tits up.

If Mourinho's serious about wanting to create a 10 year legacy somewhere, if it's actually possible with his style (debatable), then United is his best bet for it, a bunch of Chelsea fans believe if Abramovic and co. had backed him last summer instead of resting on their laurels, went out and bought the players he'd wanted to refresh his title winning team (I.e Stones), it could all have been very different this year. I think, in the same situation, if it were us, Woodward would pay the money and back him to the hilt. Regardless if it were his 1st, 2nd, 3rd... 10th year whatever.

Agreed, but having said that, I hope we don't give him too much power. We still need to restructure the academy and recruitment policies and should look to get in a Dof
