Would you be happy to see Jose Mourinho become next United manager?

The unsackable job. His most recent fecking shambles. His behavior is abysmal.
We need stability, not this cnut.

Yeah, the last thing we need is one of the most successful managers of the modern era!

That Inter side were awful, defend, smash and grab. Possibly the worst champions league final ever. The Italian league was very average at the time, so that treble is up there with the dippers plastic treble a few years back.

That makes no sense.
So you are saying the Italian league was poor and he made Inter win the CL, but this is not a great feat?
In my book, it is an outstanding achievement - to win the CL with a poor team/league.
And what about Porto winning the treble - that must also be something that any monkey can achieve? :p

He is bad news. People wanting him at United have clearly never spent any time watching any of his previous sides.
Cmoon mate, that's bollocks.

Have you watched the previous LvG sides?Did you expect the crap he's serving us now?

This Mourinho is boring and defensive and so forth is a bit tedious now.

The guy is a winner. We need someone like that not a puppet like Moyes.

What's the other options? Pochettino?

I'd imagine that it's a mix of us hoping something better/less controversial comes along, us being conserative in an attempt to secure CL football this season, Mourinho having a financial incentive to stay out of work until the summer and wanting to be seen to manage LVG's transition out of the club well.

All of which, IMO, sort of ignores the central issues that we're more likely to get CL football under Mourinho this season, even allowing for the sudden nature of being parachuted in and, just as importantly, allowing the rest of the season to serve as a dry run for next season, so that he can figure out what he wants to do with the squad ahead of time. Though perhaps that won't be an issue in the same way as it was with LVG as I could see Mourinho being brutal in terms of ins and outs.
Yea the second paragraph is really my thought process; bringing him in now gives us a chance to save the season and also gives Mourinho the opportunity to get to grips with the squad in anticipation of the summer window.

I know what you mean in the first paragraph though.

The Italian league was very average at the time, so that treble is up there with the dippers plastic treble a few years back. He did begin well at Chel$ki, but he has steadily gone downhill. His football has not evolved and other managers know how to deal with him now. Appointing him will be a massive mistake.
Inter knocked out a very good Chelsea side (who won the PL that season), somewhat comfortably. Knocked out a great Barca team. IIRC the first leg was far from a smash and grab. Then beating Bayern in the final. Far from being part of a 'plastic treble'.

Wasn't the reigning PL champions managed by Mourinho last year?

I think people only get a few years at the top before they burn out, simply because it's so massive an effort to get to the top. If you're very exceptional you'll stay there for a bit longer.
So, is Mourhino likely to be on the way up, or on the way down?

Unfortunately, yeah, it is. I can not understand the fecking love for this guy. You are all bonkers.

In fairness, LVG has been brutal with outs.
So brutal, that many fans have stated that he got rid of too many of our attackers.

following his logic, fergie was shit as well, as we were VERY lucky to not be 2-3 goals down in 99 against bayern.

Dunno, maybe because he won 8 titles in the last 13 years with 4 different teams in 4 different leagues, 2 CL and about dozen other cups? :)

Who do you suggest if not Mourinho?

Hopefully because it's a load of shite.

They're probably peed off that the Beeb got the scoop, so they're not mentioning it. Like how Formula One apparently didn't exist until Sky bought the rights to it.

How come Sky arent reporting the so called talks ?
Who knows, but they are largely irrelevant these days. Always seem to be getting to the party late. The fact that the BBC are reporting it trumps whatever Sky do or do not say as far as I'm concerned.

How long before United deny the story?

Feels like deja vu..

Pep already had a deal in place with MCFC. Everybody knew that. MUFC fans were delusional and believed he'd be interested in us, when historically, he only takes on a team which is ready to win the title (with a few tweaks).
Jose, does not have a deal with anybody and he definitely wants to manage MUFC. No question about that.

Just about anyone, I think I'd even rather stick with Louis. Mark Hughes, Pochetino, I'd even give Giggs a go.
While we're at it why not Neville? He's doing fine at Valencia and is pretty likable chap? Maybe Scholes as well, won't cause controversy.

Not my favourite manager in the world but considering the options available, I understand why the club has to go for him.

One thing people are not considering is the effect this last season at Chelsea must've had on him. In a way this season was the culmination of a lot of what is not so great about Mourinho and maybe (hopefully!) he's learned a thing or two from this experience and how to avoid them. We could get a more refined Mourinho, if that makes any sense. Or he could still be the same; a successful, smart manager who also happens to be a bit of a cnut.

Hope he leaves that downright embarrassing behaviour with Chelsea at the door.

Do you know what, if he does come in I hope it works for him. Nothing could stop me supporting the team I love, nothing will stop me following them. So if it happens, I hope he makes it work.
I just don't see it happening with him.

Just please don't act like Chelsea fans and come up with excuses for his interviews/antics. Can see him do well with your resources.
I think fans will just ignore it if he does well. Don't think he will have the same rapport he had with Chelsea fans here. This will be strictly business.

It's 1 o clock in the morning, they probably refused to answer the fecking phone.

Knowing our lot, if the phone rings, they answer the door; if the door's knocked, they pick up the phone.

Do you reckon Chelsea will go after Poch now? Or Simeone? None of the other big names are left.

Strange as it may sound, I really don't see Jose getting up to his antics with our club, certainly not to the degree seen at RM or Chelsea.

Mainly I think he respects SAF too much to bring the club into disrepute, but also because I genuinely think he has a long term goal / vision with us. He'll certainly won't be under the thumb of a owner / chairman.

I know there's not a great deal of evidence based on logic here, more of a gut feeling.

You would have thought he learned from his experiences at Real, Inter, Chelsea the first time...

If it goes against him he will, I reckon. He had resources at RM.
