Yorke said Giggs is the only man for the job and he is the new Guardiola and the time of Big Sam is over etc etc.

Based on what Yorkie! That's just "I used to play with the geezer i'll champion him" nonsense.

How he can possibly be the only man for the biggest job in English football, after watching 2 failed regimes, and making a less than major success of those 4 games (losing one home game to average team) I really don't know.

I don't believe that for one minute, I'd have thought they would know a lot more than the press.

we will see my friend.

If it's Giggs, I will come and kiss your feet. (while crying)
If it's Mourinho, i'll let you off any forfeit, but you'll have learnt your lesson

 Fair dos.

I am surprised that majority of the fans think Jose is a done deal. The plan for Giggs to take over has been in the works for a long time now. If anything, Jose getting sacked and being available sort of makes it hard for the board to continue with their intial plan.

True, but Mourinho may be relaxed as his attention might be somewhere else? You never know.
True. Hard to know where that'd be, though. He seems to have ruled out Italy. The Madrid job might be a goer, but there are all sorts of complications there. After that you're probably looking at Valencia or a team of that ilk, as PSG, City, Liverpool, Spurs, Chelsea, Barca, Atletico, Bayern and Dortmund are all out of reach or have a new-ish manager in there. Maybe you could see Arsenal having a punt if Wenger leaves, but would that be too much of a change for them?

For all he's an amazing manager, this summer his options look quite limited.

I also believe that Fergie was trying to coax Abramavich into not sacking Mourinho (after his public comments at the time), as he knew the cries would come for him to replace LvG!

It just adds up the more I think about it.

Yeah, I personally won't be surprised if Giggs is our next manager. It would be a ridiculous decision but not that unsurprising given the noises from people around OT.

Firstly it's wishful thinking to some extent, but it's mixed with what would be an incredulity that we could make the same massive mistake in not employing him twice.
Added to that is the Giggs succession was meant to be following a successful regime, so we had continuity. We don't want continuity of this sh!t in either style or results, so it'd make no sense to keep on a presumably key component of a failed regime.

Add to this a lot of influential people in the press are saying Mourinho is a done deal, versus the hype machine for Giggs wearing down, only kept up by vague comments from the likes of Robson and Yorke, who are clearly speaking from opinion.

Would be quite the insult on Wenger to give Mourinho the job so I don't think that will happen. Valencia are getting Rudi Garcia and considering Mendes position there he would probably get Mourinho that job if he had zero options at the big clubs.

Madrid
Barcelona
Atletico
Bayern
Dortmund
PSG

United
City
Arsenal
Chelsea
Juventus

Then in the tier below -
Spurs (Unavailable)
Everton
West Ham (Unavailable)
Roma (He already rejected this job offer in January)
AC Milan (He wont go to Inter rival)
Inter (he said he's not going back and their director said he's not coming as he is going to manchester)
Valencia (Rudi Garcia)

Why would he be going around saying he is back in July if he doesn't have something lined up

Which wonderland are you living in? Most of your post is based on assumption. Even more, you seem to be happily willing to believe the nonsense spouted in the tabloid papers. We never shunned Jose after ferguson retired. Neither are any of the "influential people in the press" reliable. Infact, the only consistent story in this entire mess is that Giggs has been touted to take over for a while now.

For all we know, it could be Giggsy as well. Just because Mourinho says he will have a new job in July and is relaxed, it doesnt mean it is us. Who the feck knows where he will end up eventually

Assumption? It's well thought out reasoning!

We never shunned Jose? Of course not....it was his "Dream" to go back to Chelsea wasn't it...I forgot!

I think you are going to be disappointed. He hasn't signed a contract and I'd wager LvG will still see out his contract.

I wouldn't wager that.

Moyes got 1/5th of the money, and less than 1/2 of the time, and got sacked for not hitting top 4.
We won't suddenly lower the acceptability now!

Yes it was.Now you are sounding like a deluded person. He did say he had a great relationship with Roman. This is what happens when you believe your own BS. Good thing you deleted your previous post though.

Mourinho was clearly shunned over the job because Charlton and Ferguson didn't deem him to have the required qualities of a United manager. The only deluded thing would be to think Mourinho would reject that opportunity to go back to Chelsea

I think you're the one believing the BS in fairness. Probably the truth will out in Mourinho's memoirs in years to come. Saying he had a great relationship with Abramhovic, what an incredible thing to say....having rejoined Chelsea...

I think it'd be deluded to say we were getting Pep, when all the "assumptions" coming from the press were that he was City bound.
All the "assumptions" are that Mourinho's coming our way.

time will tell though eh.

Unless he already had an agreement with them.

Jose better be coming it's only that thought that's even keeping me give a damn

The idea of LVG or Giggs in charge next season is too depressing for words

Jose is already a done deal for me. That's what I keep telling myself anyway otherwise I'd go insane. Not even contemplating Giggs either for that exact same reason.

We really need mourinho in to turn us back into a functioning side that can compete with the best. Get a cohesive gameplan in. Feels like its been years since we have had that.

Like he did with Chelsea eh ??
The man's unemployable - the only journalist still on this crap is Jamie Bell-end Jackson

Are you trying to say that because he had a bad 6 months that you can ignore the 10 previous years where he was among the top 3 managers in the world?

Have you written Mourinho off because of one bad season? He won the title 6 months before. He won like 8 titles in 11 years

Can't say I agree, just looking at previous facts, LvG is on pace to finish with a lower points tally than Moyes and they ditched him sharpish, and Moyes was never booed off the pitch, as LvG has been several times this season either.

No serious recruiter would look at someone who was fired from his last post for falling out with everyone from the owner through to the medical staff taking in the players on the way... while taking the league champions to 16th in the league.. Even Moyes did better.

Are you sure Moyes was never booed off ? I mean he had the plane campaign.

The crowd ended up booing the plane if memory serves
OT trying to be supportive of Sir Alex "Stand by your manager" up until his sacking really.

So... Pep is doing a lovely job in Bayern today isn't he?

We need someone to counter that, and his name is Mourinho. Can you imagine Giggs or LVG turning things around like Pep did today? Absolutely not.

Yeah, it's weird how so many people on here are talking as though Mourinho is a foregone conclusion. Sure, there was some paper talk a while ago, but hasn't anyone noticed that Van Gaal seems supremely relaxed regarding his position and our recent record is awful for a club of our stature, yet there have been no rumblings from within the club to speak of?

As far as I'm concerned, LVG is going to see out his contract, regardless of results. The board seem to think he's putting something in place for the future of the club and Woodward talks about him passionately.

If he were to be sacked, I'd be amazed if our next manager were anyone but Giggs, and frankly, if that's the alternative then I'd offer Van Gaal an extension....

Every newspaper talks about it like it's already been announced. I read something the other day about Arsenal which said that us, Chelsea and City have had poor seasons this year and reacted by getting a top quality manager for next season, whilst they never do. Foreign papers even talk about the players he's been scouting and is going to buy.

I assume it's an open secret in those circles much like Guardiola was.

As for people saying Van Gaal will stay because he seems "relaxed", Moyes looked like he didn't have a care in the world up until the trigger was pulled. Apparently he was " astonished" to have been sacked..
