Only thing I would say is Jose is being a massive dick to his mentor if he knows he is coming and LVG is still none the wiser

Not that I really care about that

LVG knows football management is a doggy dog world. We started discussions with him while Moyes was still thinking he was getting a comfy 6 years

It is. Van Gaal has been a great manager, and one of the best of his generetion. At 69, he's evidently lost his touch and well past his best. There's supposedly a big difference between him at Ajax and him at United.
Or you could factor in the evolution of football. Tis what makes SAF special in Arsene Wengers eyes. His ability to continuously adapt to the changing demands of the game or changing times. There aren't many managers who have stayed relevant for 20 years or at least had the success they enjoyed in one decade, a decade later. They will typically end up managing national sides. So could that be an example of them losing their touch?

As for people saying Van Gaal will stay because he seems "relaxed", Moyes looked like he didn't have a care in the world up until the trigger was pulled. Apparently he was " astonished" to have been sacked..
He looked like a ghost from Christmas to his sacking. There were even threads made about how much he had aged in appearance during his stint with us.

He was privately said to be astonished though and he thought he had at least a year. Can't blame him for being ugly as feck

So... Pep is doing a lovely job in Bayern today isn't he?

We need someone to counter that, and his name is Mourinho. Can you imagine Giggs or LVG turning things around like Pep did today? Absolutely not.

LVG would never have turned things around in the space of a single game.
Our goals scored would be 0 goals, after 45 minutes and we would continue along these lines.
He'd probably take off a full back, for another full back and we'd quietly limp towards defeat.
Then after the game, he'd talk about luck and how we dominated possession.

LVG will get mauled by Guardiola (once MCFC are performing like a Guardiola team).

Not sure why you some of you are still insisting on imagining a next season under LvG. It is masochism?

You can relax, of course van Gaal won't be managing United next season.
He'll be fired as soon as CL quali is impossible, because apparently that's when Utd fire their managers, quite probably due to some financial ramifications.

Or maybe, if he doesn't produce another embarrassing defeat (he will though), they'll allow him to stay on until the end of the season to give the whole affair some sort of dignified paint job.

In any case you can bet your arses your board has long since been feverishly looking for a new manager, and it really sounds like it's going to be José.

I would feel sorry for you if it wasn't so damn gratifying and entertaining to see you go down the drain straight into the gutter.

I think itll be this come what may, personally. So on the negative side, even if we got spanked 0-7 tonight and basically collapsed for the rest of the season and came in 8th or something, he will be here till the end of the season and will leave "by mutual consent" in the close season. On the positive side, even if we finish the season strongly and win a cup and get into the top 4 or better, the same will happen.

I think he is winding down now and knows this summer he is moving to the Algarve.

I dont think that LVG will remain next season. However if he does then rest assured that Giggs will succeed him after that

Agreed. This squad is not as bad as its being made out to be. One striker for more depth is the biggest requirement however in most other positions we have players that could be playing alot better given a better manager, tactics and style of play.

I think Ferguson and Mourinho could even have won the league with this current squad this season.

Fergusons not coming back so we should be going all out for Mourinho. I see no other person in the world that will come in next season and challenge for the title immediately.

Whilst I am not sure that we would win the league with this squad, I honestly thought we would be comfortably in the top 4 at this stage and still in the CL. Oh well, let's see how much we crumble before the LVG apologists come up with another crazy argument saying LVG should be credited with our success 10 years down the line.

If we improve down the line and someone comes out with shit about how LVG set the groundwork for it, I'm going to physically assault that person.

Considering that Giggs chances at getting the job probably relied on LVG having a successful 3 years... It doesn't say much for giggs' ability. People say LVG just wouldn't listen but he let Mourinho have a lot of control at Barcelona because he found him impressive.

I think that LVG's opinion will be pretty much irrelevant in project 'Giggs'. If the club is determined to appoint Giggs then they will do so irrespective of what LVG thinks.

Ironically I believe that LVG's opinion will be more relevant if he actually leaves now and the club appoint Mourinho instead. I am pretty confident that Maureen will have a chat with LVG on what is going on OT and may not sign unless we get rid of people who may not have been helpful to LVG in the first place. Managers do talk and no one likes to have a burden or a snitch around (if that's the case with Giggs)

You just literally quoted Xavi.

I would say LVG has been around the block for far too long to be this naive, he knows the game is up and is only seeing out the season because of a technicality with Mourinho's non compete or that the club can't make up their minds on what to do AFTER him!

I refuse to believe that.
My gut tells me Jose is our next manager.
Regardless of what SAF and Sir Bobby think, Woodward isnt going to risk his job going for their sentimental choice.

Last time we went on sentiment we got Moyes and we all know how that turned out.

"Mourinho had not long retired from playing, and managed to talk himself into a job at Barcelona. He was Mr. Van Gaal's personal translator. It went to his head, he'd go around thinking he was assistant manager, taking notes and pointing things out to the boss" recounts Rivaldo.

"He didn't have any real authority, but he'd follow the boss around like a leech, a protege. Whenever the boss punished you, Jose would just stand and nod his head disapprovingly at you. Nobody at the club liked him, he didn't have any authority - he was just there to translate the 4-5 different languages to Van Gaal, but every day at training he'd act like he was the man. Barjuan Sergi once struck a football 40 yards into the back of his head and he cried, everyone laughed"

I am going to choose to ignore that disclaimer and take that quote as the truth because it made me laugh.

Genuinely massively disappointed at the faint possibility this may not be legit.

Reminds me of the Fowler/Evans training incident.

The night ia darkest just before the dawn. But the dawn is coming. Please, Jose, you are our only hope. Save us.

Lol. Jose is far too Alpha for this. The idea that no one liked the charming devil just doesn't fit. Now, Brendan Rodgers, that's easy to imagine. Didn't he speak to his players in Portuguese at Reading because that's what Josr did? Lol.

Why would he even want to come here though? We won't be in the Champions League, the squad is like a rotting apple and will need revamping from scratch. It will be a humongous job.

I can honestly seem him going elsewhere.

Ignore. Ignore. Ignore!!!

I am looking forward to have him as our manager. LvG is cursed.

Nah. He'll come with our without CL. It'll be good for his ego to come in and try and get us back 'up there'. I wouldn't worry about him not coming. Just need Ed Woody to get the contract and pen out - that's all we need to worry about.
