Bayern are currently trying to enter discussions with Schweinsteiger over a potential contract extension - because his deal runs out in 2012. Should he not extend, Bayern would be looking to cash in on him in the summer of 2011 as he can leave on a free after that.
There have been no dates set yet for possible discussions. Schweinsteiger himself said: ''I, one day, want to win the Champions League.''
Very important also on his part is the relationship to the fans - at the moment he is being celebrated, however, eleven months ago, he was booed after Bayern's catastrophic start to the Bundesliga season. Something, according to the papers, he has not yet forgotten.
It is no secret as well, that he wants to move aborad one day.

Fergie said he wasn't sure they player wanted to leave his country, not that he signed for another club. The way it was phrased and what we all assumed was true was that we were in for Villa. We could have been wrong...

I don't see the Bundesliga but from what I've seen of him in the CL and at the Euros and the WC with Germany, he looks like a really good player. I think he'd be a great buy.
This better not happen. They've got a very physically imposing midfield as it is.
A recent goal of his was fecking sensational. He was fantastic last season and at the WC too. He seems to be like an improved De Rossi. Which is a fairly high compliment I'd say.
He also said 'the deal was a no-go by the club he went to', in a conference a while back and he was clearly referring that same player that 'didnt want to leave their country'. The bloke who said he 'has it on good authority' that the player is Schweinsteiger, is clearly talking bollocks.

The player going to another club or not wanted to leave his own country could be seem as 2 seperate examples of why some players don't join, I don't think he was applying both those criteria to the one situation. Could have been Ozil.

I was really impressed with him at the WC. They way Germany could move the ball right along the touch-line under tight coverage was incredible. Basti was a big part of that.
That goal he set up for Podolski after beating 3 players was superb.
Ballack has never been a brilliant player, the main charactersitics that he possess are his drive, determination and a half decent long shot covered with him being the German captain for a long time raised his reputation a lot. He has never been all that, good player obviously.
We won't sign him, if he's available in the Summer he will go to Real Madrid or Chelsea because they can afford him, we cannot and besides I don't think we'll be in a market for an experienced and expensive midfielder anyway.
