Very good player.

Won't mind signing him.

We should have signed him in 2006 though. It was obvious, to me at least, that he would develop into a cracking player. Certainly would have been a better long term project than Anderson has proved to be so far.

While everybody is busy wanking over Ozil (myself included) this guy is doing the business for Germany and has been a top, top player for years now. In some ways, I think he would be a much better fit in England, seeing how physical he is and how high his work rate is.

He still has a great shot and wide range of passing. Has completely taken over Ballack's role with great success. Seems like he's been around for ages but still only 25, with 2 years left on contract, wonder if those 50m euro rumors about Madrid are true..

He is just a beast. He is so versatile. I would love to see him at Old Trafford. He is all over the park. His work rate is tremendous.

Brilliant 2009/2010 season. Before not so much.

Interesting. Well I don't know, he was still getting great reviews on here years ago so I suppose that's why I said it. I guess that any person who has been playing regularly for top teams since age 17 is likely to garner some attention though, warranted or not

What season was he switched to play through the middle?

I'd love him at united, but there is not a chance in hell we'll get him. Only madrid or city can afford him.

Laillani - Schweinsteiger hasn't been amazing in seasons past but, he's been developing consistently. This last year or so has seen him mature into a brilliant player. When a player finally reaches his potential - stand up and recognize it.

Forget the world cup - he was a beast in the CL, the Bundesliga - that consistency he has shown isn't a fluke. It's Fletcher-esque in that yes, this player has arrived and a force to be reckoned with.

Always thought he'd make it big but never as a centre-mid.. was a tricksy winger when he first made it for Germany, so his recent development is astonishing.

Best player by a wide margin. Funny how so many on the Caf were mocking him when we played Bayern. Looks like he may have the last laugh.

Absolute class today, ran the game from midfield, he has a great array of attributes that are all combing with a high work rate and maturity to make him the most complete and effective CM in the tournament.

Superb performance once again. I really really hope we consider splashing the cash on him, if he goes to Madrid they'll be set.

I've been impressed with Schweinsteiger in every major international tournament he's played in so far. I don't watch the Bundesliga regularly, so I can't comment on his performances there - but in my eyes, he's a top player. A bit like Fletcher, but with more pace and technical ability.

It would be a real shame for him to leave Bayern imo. I like how the entire German team plays in Germany. Often for midtable sides.

We must have Schweiny, he is one of the most complete CM's in world football today. He is worth every penny.

No chance. For us to get a great player, we'll have to dig into the unknown territory and make ourselves our own diamond. It's always been that way for United.

The horse is dead and glue by now.

It was ridiculous from Argentina though, how many times did he pick up the ball turn without an opponent within 10 yards, have a look up and measure his pass under no pressure.

He was a bit Keano like. Grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck, controlled the tempo, and everything went through him

It really is invaluable having a midfielder who can dribble with the ball. He can go on a sprint with the ball if needed and get out of tight spaces with ease. It isn't the norm having midfielders with such quality and it reminds a bit of Giggs, when he is in midfield the opposite midfielders just aren't used to having to deal with it. Also Schweinsteiger is a fine passer of the ball and his distribution is very good, perhaps sometimes he dwells on the ball a little too long , but nothing of harm and nothing compare to Ballack who slows down the pay way too much. As some predicted Schweinsteiger benefitted with Ballack being out of the team.

Awesome showing today.

He can sit back and dictate it from there and defend the defence or dribble through as he did late on for their 4th? goal. He can mix it a bit too, so won't worry about the physical nature of the PL.

It really is an amazing development by him into a classy centre mid.

It shows why CMs in their early 20s shouldn't be written off IMO.
