I have a strong feeling he is using our offer as a bargaining tool, to get a better deal from Bayern.
I doubt he will leave.

TBH, he probably just needs to ask. I reckon he's genuinely thinking about it.
Not just him, but it'd be good business for Bayern too. They've had all of his best years and at 31 they can move him on for a tidy fee. I'd sooner see you splash out on this lad than others, he's a short term fix on decline (he's still great, but he's not what he was a couple of years back).

It's not a statement, he was talking at an advertising shoot. What do you expect him to say while still under contract? "Nah this is fun, but I think I'll feck off to Manchester lads"

He is probably staying, but wouldn't take anything from that.

How is it that every single player is doing this to us

Was just going to post something similar. Anytime we are linked with anyone it's either "do not want" or "they're only using us for leverage during contract negotiations".

Yeah that sentence squashes all the rumours about a move :wenger:

I remmeber Özil a week before moving to Arsenal at an Adidas shooting telling he loves Real and he will stay there blablabla.....

Until he signs a new contract and/or comes out at one point with Rummenigge telling that he will definately stay, thats where the rumours will disappear.

Correct, he was quoted as : ''''"I feel really good at Madrid," Ozil said. "I have a contract here until 2016. I feel very good here and get on really well with my team-mates. I want success here. There has been a lot written in the media, talk of some other options, but I have a contract and I am staying with Real Madrid."'

PR jibber jabbish, nothing more nothing less.

I've always thought he was a long shot, but statements like that don't mean a lot. Footballers will just hide behind the usual "I wanted to stay right up the point the club agreed a fee for me. And yeah, my personal terms were agreed within 14 seconds of the bid going in. What of it? I'm a quick talker."

Sometimes football fans are confusing.

We shouldn't sign (old) world class players because they will stall the development of our youngsters.

Then if United give said youngsters a chance, and we struggle to make 4th, let alone mount a challenge for trophies, said youngsters are cursed and hounded out of United. (see Gibson, Cleverley, even more recently Blackett, Evans etc.).

This is not pointing a finger at any one particular person, fwiw. I'd be all for signing someone like Schweinsteiger, lest people forget that we lost the playing experience of Giggs, Scholes, Rio, Vidic and Evra, all in rather quick succession.

There's obviously also a bit of a middle ground here. You can achieve both. We need to sign quality in order to challenge for/win things in the short term. But it doesn't mean that the youngsters wouldn't get a chance. We just need to trim our squad a bit IMO.

I think he's just stating why he would be happy to stay at bayern if a deal didn't happen, but it doesn't mean guardiola won't get rid of him or he will want too leave, anything is possible.

If he does leave, it'll probably be next year when he's seen out his contract. Can't really see a renewal on the cards and letting him leave on a fourth consecutive league high would be best for all three parties - Pep, himself, and the Bayern fans.

Fresh Schweinsteiger statement:
"I would like to win the Champions League once more, but also play as succesfully as in these past years. We've won the german championship three times [in a row], and I think no team did it four times. That's a motivation."

A not my...

Anyone know exactly what he was asked?

No. They just say he tells us about his future and that it lies at FCB and then the quotes.

Doesn't sound too positive at all, I guess that's over!

I dont think that means anything. The title says he confesses to Bayern, so i expected that he would say i stay here for the next season. In the interview he talks about what he wants to achieve with Bayern, not that he decided to stay. Obviously, we dont know the question. I dont think the question was do you stay or go, but more like what is the motivation for next year or what can you still achieve next year with Bayern. They just made a headline of it that he talks confidently about his targets with Bayern, means he must stay.

Even if they asked, i dont think he would say anything, like previously he didnt say much in the interviews. I think he is probably still undecided. I didnt expect him to rock the boat anyway.

Nothing controversial here. He is talking from a bayern player point of perspective and that is logically with him still being under contract there. What else should he say ? That he is looking forward to score a 30 yard volley at the Stretford End side ? He also used little words that could have more significance then the naked eye can see. Words like that is a motivation , for who tho ? Would Pep guarantee him three years at the highest level as a general starter ? I dare to say no.

It's not particularly disappointing because it never seemed like anything that would genuinely happen.

It's like the thought of Scholes or Giggs leaving United for a foreign adventure...it just wasn't happening.

Summer is a painful time to be a United Fan. It is so weird. United are supposed to be the biggest sports club in the world. The most decorated club in England. The biggest european football club bar Real and Barcelona. And yet teams like City, Chelsea are 20 times more likely to sign a top athlete during summer. United fans dream about signing Bastian Schweinsteiger or Sergio Ramos, but the truth is we are not capable to attract such well established talent.

Barcelona and Real will buy world class players for their bench options, City will get them self Sterling, Ramos and Wilshire .Chelsea will get Lacazette and Falcao, Arsenal, Cech and Schneiderlin.... even declining team like Milan and Inter always make most exciting transfers. Liverpool get Danny Ings. And Milner......But never United.

United is like this stupid jew kid on Christmas eve , looking through the window , all alone and depressed, to the kids down the street who all are playing with their new toys that they've been waiting for a year. We United fans just like that jewish kid, are left in disgust when summer transfer window opens, and all we can do is to watch at other teams excitedly unwrapping their new "toys". Knowing that we will never be in their place.

God i despise summer. it breaks my heart every single year

I agree with a tiny bit of that but the rest...Wow.

I think you are two years out of date - last summer proved we can still attract established names. Unfortunately last season proved that marquee signings are not always the answer.

Nothing wrong with being a jew kid.

Pretty certain this is tongue in cheek. Bold is the giveaway

Hopefully your right, he'd be a great signing for us.

Journo's will of course spin things into their own agenda, I posted a link myself last night in the football forum of a journalist twisted the words Giggs said in an interview with the times.

The media - the headlines of today were from an interview about 38 days ago when he did advertising pictures...

The advertising will be in TV starting tomorrow...

Nothing new...
