 at a bunch of people making definite statements based on a couple of pictures..... this is too much.

Balotelli is probably the best they can attract in terms of potential and talent. He could be a big hit, he could be a failure - Rodgers has already ressurected one forward in Sturridge, Balotelli will be more difficult but there's more to gain with him too because he's simply far more talented. Either way for £16m he was well worth the punt, even if he doesn't work out they will probably sell him for £10m in a year or two when Galatasaray/Zenit/Fenerbahce come calling.
In a nutshell. Plenty of people just slagging off this transfer are doing so without putting their brains into gear.

He had a good debut. His finishing was the only thing missing. He could have had a couple of goals at least today.

Looked lively and more mobile than his usual level, which might be a sign of wanting to impress on debut.

If Rodgers can coax that performance level out of him regularly he'll hit the goals, no doubt about that.

@MiguelDelaney: Rodgers on Balotelli: "I'm giving him responsibility. For first time in his life, he marked at a corner. I'm serious."

Sam Wallace ‏@SamWallaceIndy
Rodgers: "I said to Mario, 'You're picking up a man at [defensive] corners'. He said: 'I don't mark at corners'. I said: 'You do now'"

I liked what I saw. Should have finished better but he allayed my fears that he was just going to stroll around waiting on his chances.

He got involved, worked the channels, asserted his presence in the centre and fought his battles well. Looks like he can be a good asset in the buildup.

Not a worldbeating performance, but a good start.Looked like a good fit out there.

Rodgers managing to work his way even further up his own arse!

His work rate was quite impressive. Got back in defence a few times, could have scored a couple. But it'll be interesting to see if he sustains it over a decent period.

Will be interesting to see how if he continues this. Sturridge/Suarez were both well managed by Rodgers so I wouldn't be surprised to see Balotelli really grow as well. He manages to get emotional players performing really well, not many other managers have that in them.

Brendan Rodgers will have 20 discipline on next Football Managerk. He made Luis Suarez to behave (better), now he tries the same thing with Bario.

Er, from the beginning to offical end of Suarez's time at Liverpool he was worse than ever. How long was he banned for in total? How much longer should he have been banned from the diving or stamping? Then, magically even with the aid of Rodger's he still bit a player at the world cup. So he wasn't transformed at all. Not even slightly.

After one match  ? He's a natural sulky man, it will come back no doubt.

Allayed them for that game. If I were drawing conclusion's I'd be saying something "he has allayed"...

I didn't know that Rodgers was Uruguay manager.

He was a Liverpool player. Rodger's was manager. Clearly indicating Rodger's had no effect on his behavior at all.

Rodgers can't keep a player in check if he's not with him. He's not in control of his players when they leave on international duty.

He's a time ticking bomb, ready to go off at any moment.I doubt Rodgers can handle him, not because I don't like Rodgers, but rather because I don't think any manager can handle Mario. He is a mental case, and he doesn't give a feck. He didn't care at AC Milan, Inter or City. Why would he change at Pool?

Is life always so simplistic for you ?

He did not have access to Liverpool's (or any) psychologist with whom he was working a number of times each week. He did not have access to the support of his manager who was also supporting his efforts to temper his wild-side. He was away from the environment that as tempering that poor behaviour. He was now in a volatile environment, under the pressure of huge expectations and with people who were telling him he could do no wrong, with a manager who did not believe he needed a psychologist at all, and was without the care and attention to his mental health that he was getting at Liverpool. It's no surprise that his mental aberration got the better of him and he went off the rails yet again ....

And for those trying to lay the blame at BR's door, it was no reflection on Rodgers or LFC in the slightest .... unless someone is so bitter and bias that in their twisted state they can't distinguish between the two scenarios.

Completely agree with this. gonna be a rollercoaster with Mario.. but i love him already.

His instagram game is on point.

One of those is a link to him calling fans 'disgusting' because he felt they racially abused him. If you're going to try and stigmatise Balotelli, at least be a little more prudent with your links.

Just because he "felt" he was racially abused by some idiots on the stands, there's no excuse to insult all the Verona fans. By the way, he apologized on his website for insulting the sections of the Verona crowd who "had nothing to do" with the booing, so he admitted he was wrong.

It's amazing how Liverpool fans seem to have completely forgotten what a pain in the neck he was half the time for City leading to him eventually being sold...and where was he sold to? AC Milan, the club he supports. 18 months later they get rid of him because he won't even put in a shift for his own club and Liverpool fans think the transfer is a brilliant piece of business!

He'll have a promising start for Liverpool before being shipped out within 2 years as he becomes more and more lazy, disruptive and ill disciplined...it's rinse and repeat with Mario I'm afraid!

And what you're forgetting is that we only need Balotelli to perform for one season. He can fck off out next summer if he decides to play a fool.

Another thing you're forgetting: that's why we bought him for 16m under a 100k salary. We'll get most of that 16m back too. Just need emergency cover until we can properly replace Suarez while keeping our CL spot.

You can't use a comment he made after a game where he felt he was racially abused as evidence of his bad character.
