Do people know the circumstances that led to him kicking player? could it be possible that it was a high tackle?

I thought he was crap vs Spurs, but it was his debut.

With Studge out, the spotlight will very much be on him. Now or never really.

Poor lads just been a victim of the media hounding him out of Italy, then England, then Italy again.
Bring out the race card please.
Or...he's been a victim of multi-million pound transfers that's led him to multiple trophies. Poor thing.

He is definitely not an angel but in this case I think it is just the media making shite up to get clicks. It is a nothing story really.

I actually like Balotelli as a character, he's not snide or slimy like Suarez was. It'll be interesting to see how he steps up if Sturridge is out for a while.

One thing I always wonder with Balotelli is if he's possibly older than stated. He's always looked about 5 years older than his stated age to me.

When you see his face close up in natural light photos he doesn't look like a guy who turned 24 last month.

He was born in Italy and he grew up in Italy. When exactly is he supposed to have started to fake his identitu? You're only making such an assumption based on his skin colour. That is absolutely idiotic.

Huh?

Does anyone else not feel Balotelli is overrated? It seems since he came back everyone is going on about him being uber talented although other than score the odd decent goal in a flourishing City side at that time, I don't remember him being particularly special (ignoring all the bad stuff he brings with him).

I don't think he is a bad player, I just think he is talked up a fair bit.

Is he?

But he hasn't. Any player who has shared a dressing room appears to love him. As Brad Friedel said it's his fall out with Mancini that's created this false perception.

He's probably a likeable guy. His bad behaviour is usually on the pitch, aimed at opponents. That and intermittently giving up half way through a game. May well be popular in his own dressing room but that means nothing. He didn't just fall out with Manicini either. For some reason Friedel was ignoring the fact he also drove Mourinho to his wit's end.

Yeah, got to feel sorry for him there. On the bright side at least that all behind him now.

Eh wtf? One of life's greatest mysteries eh?

I agree, his Jekyll and Hyde character is hyped up so much that it gives the impression that he's much more talented that he actually is.

Mario and liverpool. Made for each other.
Hopefully. The same way Sturridge was.

Go into the Sturridge thread in Jan 2013 and there's lots of similar comments in terms of ability, being selfish, not being good enough and having a poor attitude.

If there's a club squeezing out the best of its attacking players right now it's Liverpool. Balotelli is made for Liverpool in that respect.

If there's one sure thing on the Caf over the past year or so it's to assume the opposite will happen to what's being projected with regard to Liverpool's fate.

I'm really not basing it on his skin colour, I'm just basing it on his face like I said! I hate that every African origin player's age is put into question after Mourinho's daft phone call.

I just think Balotelli looks older than just turned 24. I've always thought he looks older than his stated age.

But the likelihood is that he's 24.

Aye just like when most of us said Suarez is going and look how that turned out...

Are you one of those who demanded Obama's birth certificate?

I definitely feel that he is over rated. You've only got to watch the Spurs game to see that. He was bloody awful that game yet listening to the media you'd have thought he'd put in the performance of a lifetime. He has about one good game every couple of months and then he's hyped up as this player with immense ability who just needs to sort his head out. Well that's been the pattern for about five years now and it doesn't look like changing yet... If he wasn't such a 'character' then he would be a lot less hyped, IMO.

He's good when he turns up, but you get the impression if the milk on his cereal was warm that morning he'd sulk about it all day.

I'm not racist, no. Though as a black Englishman I do understand racism, and, for what it's worth I have a great deal of respect for Balotelli's utter refusal to accept racism on the pitch. Ironic that he replaces Suarez in that sense.

I was just saying that to me, Balotelli has always looked older than his stated age. It has nothing to do with his skin colour, and as I've stated numerous times, I like Balotelli as a character.

If it helps, I have a good friend who's Polish (a white guy), raised in Manchester, who was fostered and later adopted. When he met up with his real father he learned that he was 2 years older than he and his adopted family had always believed - he was 30 rather than 28.

With the extreme money that's on offer in professional football, I'd be surprised if there weren't a handful of players in each top league who are older than is stated. I think the same about most arenas where youth defines worth - the entertainment industry for example. I'm cynical like that, much to the amusement of my family and friends.

You aren't getting yourself out of the metaphorical hole you just dug.

Have a look at the Suarez thread last summer.
So the prediction that Suarez would leave was wrong? Is it a victory for those that claimed he wouldn't.... that he went the next summer after ?

Ah, so those that said he'd go meant he would definitely go in the very next window. Right.
Of course they did. Go back to Spring 2013 and this place was very much telling us that Suarez was leaving that summer.

If you think that by questioning someone's age who happens to be black immediately means that the conversation must turn to race or skin colour then I'd suggest that you deal with the shovel in your own hand before accusing anyone else of digging holes.
