Balotelli signs for Liverpool - Official

I think Liverpool will be alright for 3rd spot this year and it'll be ourselves v Arsenal/Spurs for 4th.

Didn't Brenton say that Balotelli would absolutely not be a Liverpool player?

Is this a signing he wanted?

Cross Post from 'Rivals - Liverpool' thread.

Balotelli (last 2 seasons) vs Sturridge vs Suarez

Some Pros and some Cons ... but the cons are nowhere near as bad as is being made out. Note since Balotelli was subbed on/off a lot at Milan I've compiled this over a 90 minute metric not per game or total.

And I've pinched this one from another site :

Note his stats at Milan vs RvP's at United - very similar in goals per minutes played, goals per game and in assists.

Note he was third in assists in the Milan team (league only) for the first season he was there (4) and followed that up by finishing joint-top in assists in the team (league only) with Kaka (6) last season.

Note the first line above for RvP is incorrect and should read : 131 goals and 57 assists for Arsenal (yielding 0.48 GPG, 140 MPG, 0.21 APG and 322.31 MPA)

Potentially fantastic and season defining signing by Liverpool. On paper, they have spent the Suarez money very well.

Strong competition for us now for positions 3&4 along with arsenal, spurs, Everton.

I think Chelsea and Man City are almost guaranteed 1st and 2nd place. 3rd-6th are up for grabs for Liverpool, Arsenal, Everton, Spurs and Man Utd.

I don't want to make any predictions as to how it will finish until we've seen a bit more of those clubs and how they play.

As for Balotelli....not really sure how this will pan out. He's a very talented player but I'm not quite sure what he'll do to their balance and squad harmony. Maybe he's matured by now though.

Now? As opposed to before?

Not even worried about Liverpool signing this clown. Most over-rated player i have ever seen.

Capable of brilliance twice a season. Other than that... Just a lazy moron

Balotelli said he was joining one of the best clubs in England. That won't go down well. You are supposed to be joining the best club in the world.

I read somewhere that Milan is likely to replace him with Torres or Eto'o. how depressing would that be if it turns out to be true?

Be very interesting to hear Alan Greens take on it after saying that no english club will touch him again.

Did Brenton really say he was 'world class'? Very good player but not world class, I also hear the transfer committee are pushing this deal through and not Brenton who didn't want him. Oh dear

Without a striker who had X factor most of my Liverpool supporting friends thought they would be outside top 4. I agreed. In many ways this signing is a potential game changer.

Though erratic and unreliable, ballotelli is exactly that: a game changer. If Rodgers can make those games change in favour of Liverpool he's onto a winner. I think he can.

Fair enough

I love Balotelli. Football needs personalities like him to keep it interesting. It's such a shame he has played for 2 teams I hate.

I guess everyone has forgotten the scummy side to his game then? Stamping on opponents heads then scoring a winning penalty ten minutes later which gave City points they needed to win the title.

Brendan Rodgers: "the market was very limited in terms of what we could bring in... we'll see if it works and if not we've tried"

"There is no doubt there is a risk with it but it is a calculated risk"

Wow, publicly calling your new signing a "calculated risk"

He actually said that? That's very upfront from one of the biggest bullshitters around.

I said it before, this is the most 'Liverpool' of the big signings that they tried to acquire - frankly I am convinced they tried their hardest to lure the top talent but just don't have the pulling power that United or 'money' clubs have. I think it's pretty certain now.

Yeah he mentioned it after the game, very weird to say that publicly but he also hinted that maybe they had few other options and took the risk on mad Mario
