Bad Berba's Back

If only he stopped fecking moping about the pitch when its not quite going right for him it would be half the battle.

James from Aberdeen now talking on MUTV does not want to see him in a United shirt again, a bit strong

TBF to him he still has that lingering virus.

Yes, he also didn't have a pre-season 2 years ago and his price tag is still troubling him. He also isn't playing in his preferred position. Yawn.

When will we stop trying to defend the indefensible? He has been utter useless from game 1 up until today against Villa (apart from maybe 5 games) and shows no signs of improving his attitude, performance or effort level.

you can tell his confidence is gone, early season Berba seemed like a predator and now seems clueless around goal.

Poor game but got better as it progress and was alittle disappointed to see him come off although proven the correct choice.

If a pro footballer loses confidence so dast, something is seriously wrong. Its just not gonna work out for him at united it seems, and with 30, its not that he has years to learn or improve

You can't expect a striker to finish every chance he has. The fact that we have only 1 good chance until the 80 minute is just not good enough. Although it was a bad miss from him.

But you can expect a striker to at least score once within 2 months.

But he was improving, yada yada ya...
People might know a secret that I am kept out of. I have never seen Berba's usefulness or effectiveness, yet some knowledgeable people adore that guy. I don't know if it is his flicks, or fancy passes or what the feck is it that he does on the pitch. I don't get it.
Then he has the audacity to shout at players who don't pass him the ball. The cheek.

We are not creating enough chances for him. What is he meant to do, score from his own crosses? He was quiet today but thats because for the first 80 minutes, he had no service.

We've done this a million times over now, he is what he is

On his day he can be brilliant. His day is frustratingly few and far between. When he's not performing well, call it style, call it his temperament, whatever... you don't see the desire or motivation to turn it around. No one is beyond busting a gut and putting a real shift in

The accepted wisdom is that he's a confidence player. If that's the case, how the hell do we explain what's happened since Liverpool? He's gradually got worse and worse

Yes he has an extraordinary ability but with no mental strength to back it up.

But best in the world? fecking hell... That's a bit over the top for a player with no pace, who can't head a ball, who started to shine in his very late 20, with very little power....

He has the abilitiy to be a pretty good footballer and stiker, that's for sure, but if he can't get his head sorted out it's a bit frustrating.

Blame the fans and his supporters more. They made him out to be something he is not - his technical ability and talent is good but its not mind blowing like his fans say.

He is a good player in a bad run of form not a mercurial talent.

When he has a bad game unlike other players he goes into his shell others try to make up their bad performance by trying something.

The run and movement makes the pass. It takes two to tango.

Looking for a goal with 20 minutes to go and your 30 million pound player is brought off, says it all about his form really. He is the most frustrating player in the squad. He has so much ability and at times you think he's world class then he goes on a run where he looks championship class, very strange I thought the Bin dipper game would be his spring board. To be fair he had very little service and his strike partner was worse imo, still very disapointing

Who created the chance for Kiko? Who crossed for him? Throw yourself about for a change. For all of Tevez's faults, you could never accuse the guy of not trying. Never, he will hassle and hassle till he falls off.

Did you see that well worked freekick between Evra and Nani?

He should've been bursting a gut to get in the six yard box and would've scored yet he was loitering around unaware of what was going on. Sometimes you make your own chances.

This is the problem most people have with Berba.

Very good point, I thought I was the only one who saw it with my biased Berba glasses. I need to watch it again to make sure if he could have made it.

Yes I stand by my comment.Technically I don't see what the best players in the world have over him, the main difference is mental and also without forgetting the physical importance (pace and agility). If only technique was to be taken into consideration, he's one of the best in the world. It's just sadly not enough.
Zidane didn't have particularly great physical attributes but mentally he was on another galaxy ( I hope you'll realize I didn't compare Berbatov to Zidane)

Ronney;)

Pretty much agree with this. Very surprising to see that he hasn't kicked on from the Liverpool game. He hasn't been shit either, but not the same player he was pre Liverpool.

Evra was fecking livid with him. Evra certainly thought he would have made it.

No two ways about it, he was awful today. Hopefully Wigan next weekend will get him back on track.

Berba can't dribble like the best. Heading seen as a technical ability? Berba has great close control. His short passing is ok but his long passing, come on.

You just raising him up too much- hes a good player and his performances throughout his career testify to that.

How Berba and all the other forewards must miss Valencia.

Well, thats what I've been thinking for a few weeks. We've really missed him, with his ability to keep possession and not just waste passes but put meaningful balls into the box; and he puts in a shift defensively too, and doesn't whinge.
Thats not to say there haven't been games when he's been shite too, but...

But that's aside from the title of this thread. My only doubt all along has never been of Berba's ability, but that .. hmm.. he doesn't exactly fit into our style of play. He's got a golden first touch, but he's not exactly the mobile-pacy-making-runs-all-over kinda player. And we've kinda gotten used to that a little over the last decade or so.

Valencia provided width and widened the game providing more room in the central areas = Nani and Park drift inside too much at times.

It's subjective, you don't have to be the best in every single aspects of football to be among the best in the world.Berbatov's dribbling is fine for such a slow and languid player. He's a player who doesn't need to be extra amazing at dribbling either
edit: I will stop at that, I think I'm getting a bit OTT or I might close to the truth.Doesn't matter anyway

Like Ronaldo, Keane, Ruud, etc. would?

Well atleast they backed it up with performances ;)

But berba will come good again. Maybe the return of Rooney will be good for him as some pressure will be lifted off his shoulders.

Sell him in the summer to cut our lossses. I mean it, i've had enough of his mopping. We're going to see many Berbatov performances of today and getting much pissed off.

Very good player but just not cut out for United.

Berba was by far not the worst player today. But why is there no thread on say "Bad Park is back"?

sadly turning into a berba-flop, he is living on his one-match glory against Liverpool.

We all know Park has his limits but Berbatov's a completely different talent. And i can forgive Park for being poor today after he gave us the win against Wolves.
