Bad Berba's Back

Many had a very selective history of Berba at Tottenham and only remembering his best moments akin to judging a player on Youtube clips.
.

Exactly right. There were actually a few of us who never wanted him. We were not well received on the boards.

For Tottenham he scored 27 goals in 70 EPL appearances. For us he has scored 27 goals in 74 appearances.

He is pretty much the same player he was at Tottenham but too many on here have over rated him - hes a good a player - a good addition to the squad - its the fact we shelled £30m on him that also adds to the mix.

He scored 1 goal every 2.2 games for Tottenham, he has currently scored exactly 1 every 3 games for us. This is a near 30% reduction in goals scored per game. When you take into account the fact that Spurs were (and still are) a much poorer team than United the stats become far more apparent.

His assists are also of a similar % lower in a better team. Not to mention that his overall play is much worse, illustrated by how gutted Spurs fans were when he left vs how happy they are that they sold him at the right time.

Well his Tottenham record was boosted by 12 goals in the UEFA Cup. It's only fair to judge him on his EPL record which is pretty much the same as it was at Tottenham.

People go on about whether such a player is a Manchester United player -the thing is what does that even mean. In the end if a player is basically doing what he did before then what can you say?

Blame the player for not developing himself further or blame yourselves for rating him too much in the first place.

My toys are finally out of the pram for Berba, he is negative energy to the team from my point of view. He may be missing Giggs, Rooney, Valencia. I think together the helped him start the season well.
Why does him piss me off so much? No United player has generated this feeling in me before.

His demeanor drags other players down. He has Manchester United quality feet but his heart is lacking.

It was bound to happen. It's a shame that even when he's having a bad day we can't expect him to perform some magic unless Nani who had a horrible match but did some great stuff towards the end

He was bad in the first half but at least he was trying to make things happen in the 2nd. I was disappointed he was taken off.

Apart from one good little run and ball to Nani (who failed to contrl it) I dont remember any other time he attempted to make things happen.

He was gash from min 1 until he was rightfully dragged off. Horrible performance again

Awful today and he looks like he's slipped into bad ways. I'd back dropping him from the team now.

I've never had a problem with his goal record - I reckon 1 in 3 is about right for the type of player he is. But he's done nothing creatively today.

So disappointed because I really thought he'd turned the corner.

A costly mistake by SAF. SAF knows it, he just does not want to give up on some hope that one day, in a dog fight like the match against Villa, Berba will rise up and lift the team with some control. Will never happen, Berba rather depends on others to lift him up. He has too much negative energy and this drags most of the players around him down the same direction he is going. Play the kids SAF, let them learn from this campaign.

I don't understand how a footballer as talented as he, can have no bottle what so ever. You see cocky bastard and you see lazy bastards but you rarely see players like Berbatov. For christs sake if you don't score its not the end of the world but if you mope and act like a twat every time you don't, you're going to go on these 10 game goaless streaks.

He started looking better in the second half. But always when you want to change something, you start from the forwards. Too little, too late

What has happened him? Since the Liverpool game he has disappeared he looked today like he didn't give a toss

I don't know whether it's just him, or it's our midfield. I would like to give him the benefit of the doubt though as our midfield creates next to nothing for our strikers without scholes, or if nani is having an off-day.

The biggest disappointment is that he has enough ability to be one of the best if not the best in the world. It's a real shame that mentally he's so weak

No he didn't disappear right away. played well for a few games, but but didn't score...then he had a couple of bad ones. Vs City, I think he did well again and today in the sec half too. But he's not been in the goalscoring form shown from the beginning of the season...but so did everyone else

Took 2 years to build himself a platform and once he achieved it he's fecked it up

He did have that one good chance and blew it along with whatever confidence he had

The Sad thing about Berbatov is his attitude. I really don't care if he doesn't scores, but he throws fits when he doesn't get any service, or when he is fustrated. That effects other player in the team too.

It's a possible explanation but if the virus was really affecting him would SAF have played him ? I know it's impossible for us to know
It's not like we are dripping with options upfront right now tbf. So it's possible some players are playing while sick. After all Scholes did vs City. Because today in the first 70 minutes, apart from the players in our back 4 and Van De sar, the rest were true garbage.
