Bad Berba's Back

The thing that absolutely does my nut in is regardless of whether he's actually quite good or not, the same group of people on here arrive in to slag him off when he hasn't been one of the best two or three players in our team. Yet we have other players (like Anderson) who generally play worse than he does yet they have people saying they're the best thing since sliced bread.

You seem to have an agenda against him... That's cnutish, really.

I watched a small part of the game as was getting my daughter ready for school and had to leave at half-time, the little bit I did see, Berb seemed lively at least and I even saw him chase down a Rangers player down near our right-back position which is something I've never seen from him, I'll watch the full match later as taped it on the Foxtel IQ, like the Sky Plus or whatever it is in the UK.
Still would have liked to have seen Hernandez alongside Rooney...

Had a go at Scholesy today, it's just the cardinal sin.

Still should've won a penalty and should've set up a Rooney goal with that lovely chip so without that bad luck it would've been quite an influential game from him, along with him playing quite well in the build up again.

He was good tonight, you gimps. And much well behaved i thought (i hope this continues). That tracking back he made at the right side was very encouraging to see. Perhaps a Fergie word or two has been around his ear already.

Game of 2 halves for Berbatov I thought. He was frustratingly languid in the 1st but really upped the performance in the second. He was no better nor worse than Nani and Rooney for the 1st half but the front 3 played with much more conviction in the second half

It was the other way round, he was much quieter in the 2nd half, looked like he run out of steam. His work rate was good yesterday, but his attitude and constant moaning is getting annoying, esp. since he fecked up some of his passes as well

On the moaning thing. It's irritating to watch but you can bet it's water off a duck's back to his team-mates. Everyone who's ever played football will know that some of the nicest blokes around can turn into mouthy twats on a football pitch. Never any hard feelings when the final whistle blows though.

Wasn't brilliant but was involved in almost every good attack before his substitution. Certainly not worse than any other attacking player on the pitch.

When mis controls a pass and then turns to the Passer in disgust it winds me up no end.

He must realise it draws attention to how shit his control was.

Last night was his best performance since Stoke. He wasn't great but was decent I thought. A few really nice touches and looked to get shots off on goal. That ball chipped over for Rooney was sublime. Had he finished it we'd have been talking about a classic Berbatov assist.

The substitutions were strange. I would have taken off Giggs and Rooney instead. Worked out ok in the end though.

Agree about Giggs but I'm glad Rooney wasn't taken off. He wasn't at his best but was still our best attacking player imo.

I never slate Berbatov on these forums but his Berbatstrops are starting to annoy me now. Just get on with it and stop moaning - Torres does the same, it's childish.

Well he is now on his worst run of games with no goals = 10.

He needs a goal for his own sanity.

he does need one - if only to shut all you lot up.

he was twice the player Rooney was last night

You reckon? Like I said before I thought he was decent. I thought he and Rooney turned in similar performances and maybe Berbatov did shade it but he was nowhere near "twice as good".

Sorry CW but I have to agree with Erica here. Berba wasnt magical but much better than rooney. Rooney fluffed a few good chances and Berbatov hustled and got a few touches of the ball that spread play around. Definately won a penalty and produced a fine save from the rangers keeper. That goal seemed to have stoked the fire in Rooney and we'll see if it carries over.

Thought he was unlucky to come off but I suppose with rooney needed minutes and all, it made sense in the end.

You must be joking. Rooney was attrocious. No one played as bad as he did on either side.

Really? I thought he did OK. Got quite a few shots off. Hit the bar. Near miss from a free kick and his passing and vision was very good as always.

I don't think he was brilliant, not by any means. I just don't think Berbatov was "twice as good".

As for our worst player, surely that was Giggs?

No. It was definitely Rooney. He looked over rusty. His first touch was inconsistent as was his decision making. Time and again he killed Berbtov's attempts to play 1-2's with him by making the wrong decisions. The one time he did it right Carrick almost scored.

Berb did fine last night , despite his whinging

....... I saw we were playing rugby again though ......
quite a few fine conversions high into the stands behind the goals.....

woeful shooting......

You thought Rooney had a worse game than Evans? Or Nani? Or O'Shea?

Not trying to say Rooney was immense or anything, especially by his own standards, but surely as a first start in fecking ages he did ok. Certainly not our worst player.
