Aymeric Laporte | Txiki doesn't forgive (except for when he does)

lol people think he's choosing Pep and City over United. United are not in for him for obvious reasons - he has more or less exactly the same injury Valencia suffered, which kept him out for 7 months. I don't see any way that Laporte will be in contention to start a competitive match until October at the very earliest.

At least when Valencia got his injury he was already acclimatised to the Prem. Will be incredibly tough for a young player like Laporte to come back from a broken ankle in a totally new league that in terms of physicality is a world away from what he's used to.

Bore off. We're in the market for almost every available player in world football and have the money to commit to said deals.

Well, let's see how many we land then. Compare and contrast with City at the start of next season. Feel free to quote me as I'd love to be wrong.

Can only imagine the headlines if it was us signing someone with a broken leg for €50m plus someone who had a bad back injury which kept them out for over a season. Seems Gundogan has fully recovered over his issues and Laporte may be okay too. Neither transfer is without their risks though.

True. I'd rather choose Marquinhos over Laporte tbh.

It's a lot of money for Laporte or Stones and it's not clear how much of an upgrade, if at all, they are on Blind. He at least has played a whole season as first choice left centre back in one of the best defences in the prem.
Would rather wait to see how TFM, Tuanzebe and Williams turn out.

He has denied the whole thing himself with city
Saw that in the M.E.N. hope its's true, but he might be trying to smooth the waters with the Bilbao fans. They are not too keen on their players going elsewhere. I would rather he stayed where he was and got fit. It is a lot of money to go somewhere when you aren't fit and then settle in. Get yourself fit, prove that you are back to your best in familiar surrounding and then move somewhere when you are fully up and running and a year more experienced.

To be fair he's had more than enough of that. He really should be moving on now or take the next step. Hopefully it won't be City though.

Actually ee can only leave Bilbao to us or one of our rivals

Barca: They don't have currently the money for him
Real Madrid: Not a option unless Ramos or Varane are going
Atletico: Not a option unless Godin or Gimenez are going
PSG: Not a option unless two players are going
Bayern: Hummels will come
Dortmund: They wouldn't pay that
Italy: No one can pay that for him

Delph's transfer Came to mind. Knowing Athletic Bilbao use iron hand on players rumored scheming a transfer; it's understandable for players to deny it until transfer's finalized.

That's a good point. I'm not sure about PSG and Bayern though. Hummels move might fall through, I don't really believe that though and PSG might be looking to add, if they are willing to part with Marquinhos. If he really wants to go to Barcelona I could see him wait for another season, when they potentially have the money. I'm not sure about their financial state though.

Why do Barca not have the finances to buy this lad? The amount of money they must bring in surely they should have or is it all spent on MSN. If so surely neglecting the defence will bite them on the bum eventually.

they're already up to their necks in wages, with neymar and messi set for increases (neymar in particular will be hefty)

If he signs it, he will be stuck there for life. Athletic don't sell players, and his current clause is relatively high (50m EUR). If it goes higher, no club won't be able to afford him.

If we can't sign him, I don't want anyone to sign him!

PSG is not interested because next year we will have Thiago Silva-Marquinhos in the starting 11 + David Luiz sub alternating between CDM and CB.

Bayern has already acquired Hummels so I don't see them recruiting another one CB.

Otherwise, City seems to be very interested according to some reports.

As you mentioned, Bayern, PSG (and Real Madrid) don't need him. What about Barcelona? I think they will try to sign a CB in the summer.

They are looking for a CB. Some rumours: Shkodran Mustafi (Valencia) and Laporte according to some reports.

Gundogan and Laporte done, Pep making his mark.
I wonder what we are doing exactly. Maybe we will get Stones, if not we will be in trouble at the back if we go more attacking. Not bothered about Gundogan as I think he will be like Kompany and spend most of his time injured. Laporte is another matter.

Varane, Stones and Maruquinhos are still available. I hope we get at least one of them.

The latter has hinted he doesn't want to come to the PL. Varane, I just bet he doesn't come here. Stones is one of those that if we sign him now, you just guarantee he will have a terrible euros. I know a lot want Smalling and him together, but I have doubts about Smalling, one to me isn't brave enough, the other has a arrogance beyond his ability.

We seem to be after Kostas Manolas at Roma

The reactions here would be much much different if we were signing two players worth 60m pounds who'll be out for first three months of the season.

Let's see how he plays here, all the hype over Otamendi last season and he turned out to be average.

That'd make over £100,000,000 in 2 years for 3 centrebacks at City. Insanity. Luckily £70m or so worth of them are shit.

Pep making his mark signing 2 crocks who he is *hoping* will come back at their best. Laporte i think will but £38m is a lot of money, and Mangala and Otamendi were proof high fees do not result in good performances. Gundogan is a crock, full stop. I'd not touch him with a bargepole. Obviously if Utd had signed them the City lot would say the same thing abou their injuries.

Leaves John Stones for Old Trafford or Chelsea.

Wouldn't you say Manolas is second tier when compared to these four?
I would say Mourinho knows what he's doing when signing CBs. Wouldn't be worried if we get Manolas and Pep Laporte/Stones

Was going to say Mangala is arguably in the worst 5 CB in the prem. and Otamendi i thought was quite shit too
