I would love to see him come here but he will be very expensive because Bilbao doesn't even negotiate you either pay the buyout fee or you don't get the player.
That's under £30m atm, we paid around that for a LB who is always injured. That is the going rate for good young talent.

Injury records don't count for much when it comes to us, Rojo and Jones being top examples. Any defender we sign turns into a crock. :(

It's true that's what the prices are atm and they won't go down anytime soon.

While we are talking about injured, what's his injury record?
Not sure, he seems to like getting yellow carded. Funny when I looked at the formation for the game against Atletico Madrid he seemed to be playing LB.

If he has a release clause and we are willing to pay that to get him, surely it'll be a done deal? Althought I know Bilbao are hard people to deal with

I bet he doesn't fare much better if at all in the PL immediately compared to Jones and Smalling.

100 first team games at 20 is pretty impressive. Looks a real talent but IMO not what we need at all. We need experience and leadership.

Considering he just signed with Mendez, I would say that he is on the move in the summer.

Just like the experience/leadership that Rvp and Rooney bring? No we need a CB who is great in terms of ball playing and can defend (and doesnt get injured all the time)..
Well no, that's a completely different situation isn't it? We have plenty of young defenders without any proper experience and leadership. We have the opposite up front.

Anybody watched him a few times know what he's like?

All I can gather is that PES says he is slow, and he looks a bit like Pique.

Can't recall saying he wasn't and I know that he is. Doesn't mean he can't look like a Spaniard.
I was just saying. You asked if anybody knew anything about him. I was joking. Sorry. He's around 6 ft 2in. So quite a big lad. He might be slow, but so is Hummels, who is just older and more injury prone. Lack of pace doesn't always matter if you have composure. You can be as quick as anything, but if you are a bit thick it won't make you a good defender.Maybe we will sign both. He has played a LB the last couple of games, so could help out there in an emergency, we always seem to have emergencies. There again the big Spanish clubs might be looking at him. Varane and Laporte together? Maybe LvG isn't very impressed with the CB options he has. Either not ready for the first team or injured or at times brainless.

My bad, I thought you were correcting me. I thought you thought I was calling him Spanish by comparing his looks to Pique.

Thanks for the info. I literally know nothing about him aside from a few rave reviews that he is meant to be the next big defender coming through.

I have actually edited my post to the effect that lack of pace doesn't always matter if you are composed and have positional nous. The only ones who can tell us if he is any good are the lads who are either in Spain or get to watch more of the Bilbao games.

From what i have seen of him, he doesnt look slow at all and also has great recovery speed.

As he's a left-footed player I wouldn't see it as a big issue even if he is slow, as he'd likely be paired up with one of either Smalling or Jones who both are very fast.

He's Spanish, so he'll leave if he gets really good. Just get Stones, if we are going for a young talented CB.

Stones, that's what we need. Van Gaal and Stones sitting on a table thumbs up over a freshly signed contract with the headline reading "Gaal Stones"

Laporte resumes for Premier
The British team bet on the central Athletic

Manchester United does not rule out the signing of Aymeric Laporte, central Athletic next summer. French footballer was recently acquired by Jorge Mendes and the famous Portuguese FIFA agent has very good relationship with the Red Devils. This could cause another good tune arrival as we pass with Falcao this same course. It is true that Colombia has not succeeded, but confidence in Jorge Mendes remains full.

British leaders will contact the Athletic Club of Bilbao at the end of this season to ask price and Aymeric Laporte situation. After this talk with Mendes to close the deal and to renew their defense since it is the main desire of coach Louis Van Gaal. Recall that Laporte renewed with the Athletic last season and increased his buyout clause to 40 million euros. He does not look that lions are going to want to accept lower offers to those 40 kilos. The player has clearly not put pressure to leave as it is the club of his life.
The Red Devils are in great need to strengthen their defines, which could force them to spend more than they thought at first.

Should be a 1 week posting ban for anyone that bumps a thread using a fichajes or Metro link. They have continuously been proven to be ridiculous and pathetic sources and if someone doesn't know that then banning them from posting for a week will help them to remember

By the way John Stones is right footed and can play RCB/RB, so what about Smalling/Jones? Laporte is left footed and can play LCB/LB.

Lack of game time I guess. If he does leave I'd expect him to end up at Chelsea though.
He would be the perfect partner alongside Smalling in my opinion. The pace and reaction on the lad is magnificent from what I've seen. Would even prefer him over Hummels. Having said that, a Hummels - Varane partnership wouldn't be amiss either.

Why? Fellaini worked out fine
Eventually, but now people are saying he is limited. It isn't Stones quality, he is right sided, so if LvG still has his obsession about right footers and left footers, then what about Smalling or Jones future? I just have an unfounded dislike for Everton now. They laughed at us last season, they let us have their manager, they keep beating us there, Martinez is smug. Little things.

People who know feck all say he is limited. As for Stones Im not sure he would be LVG's type and as for Martinez he wont achieve much at Everton.
