Avatar - Welcome to the future of cinema!

Going to see it today, i'm expecting big things after reading this thread.

Saw it last night, 3d on a massive screen.

Absolutely loved it, amazing visual experience like never before, no silly American cliché's like in 2010 either, this will be a milestone in modern cinema.

Yeah that guy who was head of security was truly original, he was the exact same character as Jon Voight in Varsity Blues, and so many generals in various other American movies

Hopefully I will see this tomorrow, the cinema gave me vouchers to redeem against any film when my scheduled screening was cancelled due to a powercut. I will be doing my best Bill Oddie impression as I look out for Blue Tits.

I thought it was pretty damn good!

Also, I know you lot are more interested in the main blue lady, but I thought the Army guy that did the whole thing was hot too!

Sam Worthington? Liv and I have been drooling over him for years.

Anyhow, why I'm in the thread...this will sound like a daft question but is it better to see it in 2D or 3D? See I'm thinking of taking my aged mother to this and she can moan about/get a headache from almost anything. Will she love it in 3D or will I have the movie experience of the decade ruined for me because she can't handle having blue things flying at her face?

The 3D in this film is used to create depth rather then having stuff fly out the screen, dunno whether it'll produce a headache, but it's 3d in which is was filmed so its what the filmmaker intends it to be seen in

Just saw it 3-D IMAX, what a piece of shit. After reading this last page, I was shocked that people from all over the world who laugh at the simpleton ways of the U.S. are enthralled with this film, because it is a shit film the 3D aside.

Each to their own and all, but this isn't theatre, it's cinema and spectacle counts.

Saw it today and enjoyed it even if it was a bit long.

Saw it today and i thought it was brilliant, the effects werent as good as i thought they've been hyped up too but i thought they used it well not having it in your face but to add dimension to the scenary. The story line was your classic sci-fi action type flick but i thought it was delievered well and imo i can see what the hype was about.

All in all a good watch

I saw this just befoe Xmas with my kids and loved it. The 3D was well used to add depth to the scernes and not in a gimicky way with thing coming out of the screen at the viewer as in some other films. The story line was OK although somewhat predictable I thought.

Finally someone else has mentioned this.

The film itself blew me away, in almost every aspect. When i got out of the cinema i did however point out that there were so many individual points in the film, as well the majority of the ending, that you saw coming which made the film a bit too predictable. For that comment i had about 5 or 6 people having a go at me and insisting it was not predictable.

I'd have hated it if the ending wasn't predictable and
the evil earthlings had slaughtered everyone.

Err, if you read the thread you would have seen loads of people, including myself have stated this aswell.

Thats something i dont really get, granted the storyline was fairly generic in terms of a action movie (into, something good happens, something bad happens, hero saves the day) but in terms of story line i didnt think it was all that predictable.

I mean the whole transfering from your human body to that of your Avatar was fairly obious

Just saw it in 3D Imax. Clearly a milestone flic. Sam Worthington's accent was a bit crap, and they could've spent a bit more time developing the intent of the story. A fantastic experience nonetheless.

Jesus christ, nitpicking at its finest

Well, atleast we saw it when we could in its finest.

Makes you wonder though, will they re-release it in cinemas in a few years? would be a good move imo

I have a new favorite movie. Absolutely loved it. Seeing it again in a few days just to enjoy its beauty.

James Cameron is going to have the top two grossing films of the past fifty years. In three weeks he's topped Dark Knight's entire theatrical run. Titantic will be hard to beat, though.

It's a decent spectacle but if it wasn't for the 3D it wouldn't be much better than average.
I would recommend seeing it just for the experience.

one of the best films I have ever seen.

Just an epic film from start to finish.
