Australian Open 2013

There you go, Berdych fought well in that last set but it was too little too late. The early break in the third set killed his momentum. Djokovic still on course for the hat trick.

Williams just knocked out by Stephens. Incredible. She looked done after the first set.

Williams got some back injury in the second set and did not recover quickly. However, this is the last win for Sloane in this open. Azarenka will crush her.

Yeah. I wasn't paying the most attention, but did notice she had a medical T-O. Azarenka-Sharapova final does seem the most likely.

Federer vs Tsonga today. The two most exciting players in the game for me.

Murray into the semi's without dropping a set. He's had quite an easy path so far, but still impressive none the less. Hope he gets Tsonga as I reckon Fed will beat him.

Edit: Looks like it's Federer - Murray then

Class by Federer.

Djokovic is playing like a machine. Some amazing tennis.

OK so yeah, Djokovic is playing one of the greatest games ever. Ferrers not really doing anything wrong, just everything going too perfect for Djokovic, it's not a fluke at all, but still, he'll probably never be this perfect again. It's kinda freakish to watch really. Even Nadal smashing Federer like 6-2, 6-1, 6-0 wasn't this perfect, since Federer decided he was losing that before showing up.

Insane match to watch. It was over within five minutes of the match and I am not exaggerating. Never quite seen a semi final played like this and Ferrer's no slouch himself.

Quite obviously juiced up.

Djokovic is a blatant doper.

Oh really, how did you reach that conclusion? You have some special insight in what he does off the court? Are you doping together with him and thereby able to provide a first-hand account? Are Murray and Nadal also dopers since their fitness level is about the same as Djokovic's? Or perhaps you're just talking out of your arse.

What's so extraordinary about his fitness?

I suppose some people can't accept that he's just really fit and mentally one of the strongest players of all time.

The fitness of tennis players is overrated. Most people don't realize that a football player will run more than twice the distance of a tennis player in half the time. To have the ability not to be mentally fatigued and maintaining concentration in long and tough matches is usually the deciding factor in the outcome of the match. In an individual sport like tennis the mental aspect is of huge importance.

People get the impression that the likes of Nadal, Djokovic and Ferrer are physical monsters and yes they are very fit, but I believe it's misleading due to the fact that most players on the tour could improve their fitness. In the old days this wasn't as important due to the balls and the courts being faster.

Murray is in that bracket too, because he's worked like an absolute demon in the gym over the past 3 years to get to the level of those guys. Who remembers him in those Wimbledon Semi v Nadal where he just couldn't compete physically with the power and the stamina of the Spaniard? Nadal had the massive biceps and Murray looked a little boy in comparison.

Murray's arms and legs are sheer muscle these days. To use a term I hate, he's got a right pair of guns on him now and that is down to sheer hard work. The tennis ability was always there with Murray, the only question was his small frame and lack of stamina to compete in 5 set matches. Those days are gone now, Murray outlasted Djokovic in the US Open Final, Djokovic was shattered and that says everything for me.

Any accusations of Djokovic doping are fecking brainless, these players are tested just the same as any other athlete. He's just a phenomenal tennis player.

I completely agree with your analysis.

In the US Open final you could also see that Djokovic's match against Ferrer that lasted over two days had taken a lot out of him since he didn't have time to recover 100% for the final, proving that he's human after all.

First set to Murray 6-4 and Murray looking strong so far with his serve working well so far. Murray being aggressive again like the Olympic final and taking it to Federer with the right mix so far in his game.

Fed's first serve has been really poor.

Murray's playing really well. He has Federer on the ropes at the moment. He's holding his own serve pretty easily and challenging on Federer's serve quite a bit.

Murray is looking a much better player than Federer in this match. Not sure how this is tied.

A travesty that Federer is still in this match. He's been dominated throughout. But Murray hasn't put him away. It's how Murray reacts now, but I still think he will win this in 5.

More errors starting to creep into Murray's game. Missed a few you would easily expect him to get now.

Third set to Murray then. Don't think Federer will break his service.

Can't see Federer winning this anymore. You feel he has been stealing sets (also against Tsonga) by making less breaks than opponents, but being better in tie-breaks.
Today, he has basically been hanging on, never threatening the Murray serve (has he had a break point???) whilst his opponent has looked like breaking him regularly.
Seems a step slower than he used to be to me, he seems done, unless he can hang on in the fourth to scrap it out in another tiebreak and have some huge luck in the fifth.
