Australia tour of India - 4 tests

Why has Ashwin looked toothless this series on these pitches?
His consistency has been horrid, hardly ever hits the ball in the same place. They did a comparison of Lyon and Ashwin and it was night and day.

Kohli's captaincy has been extremely strange as well in terms of when he will allow certain bowlers to bowl or not.

That's strange for him. I only watched the first test, but I thought he was flighting the ball far too much there when the pitch was turning square.

India won't even get to 100 imo with the way this pitch is falling apart atm, so if we can get a lead in excess of 75, then we might only be chasing 25 or so. A lead of 100 and I doubt we are batting again.

Australia really knuckled down and gutted it out. I thought at one stage, they'd score ~200 at best. So, a very small lead - but, it looks like, they might get that out to 80ish now.

That would require India to score 230 to give Australia a decent chase.

The big difference is, Ashwin was bowling mostly to left handers while Lyon bowled to right handers. The balls pitched outside leg and coming in isn't what Ashwin usually bowls to left handers but today he did so as to exploit the spot which helped Lyon. It did help Ashwin with Warner's wicket but it is also a line batsman can pad away which Australians did. So he occasionally switched the line as well. His bowling was quite good, not as deadly as few series before but combination of little wear out, which has made him look flat on occasions and some dodged batting by Australia means he couldn't add more in wickets column. Ashwin likes long spells but Kohli should reduce his workload a bit and use Jadeja bit more. It was puzzling why Jadeja was used so sparingly today.

Rains forecasted for tomorrow and the day after :drool:

Shame the match will be over today, though.

If Australia get a lead of 150 it could be a match winning one
150 run lead would be a confirmed winning total...no, 'could be' about it. India would need to score 300 to make Australia chase 150...that's not going to happen.

But all of that might be moot...if what @MDFC Manager says is true....rain might save the day and result in a draw.

Jadeja has bowled for less than half the overs that Ashwin has bowled. Could well be what decides the outcome of this match. Bad call really.

I did post ot just before Starc went out in my defence.

I noticed the timing of your post after I posted mine. But even with Starc, I'd say 70 to 80 odd runs with the tail on this kind of pitch is next to impossible. 9 down now and 90 to 100 run lead is still very good mind you.

You all know this is going to happen...The pitch is shit, but the match itself has been good and looks like we're going to get an exciting finish!

Is it normal that Jadeja comes in at 3 down? I haven't watched the previous series at all, but this seems like insane overconfidence.

Lol... India getting roasted again... And this time at home.

Curators: Sir, what kind of pitches for Test 3 and 4
BCCI: Hold on. Let me talk to Virat

BCCI to Virat: What kind of pitches can you play on.
The phone goes beeep beep beep...

BCCI: Hello?? Are you there?? Viraaaaat?

Rahul has kept India in this game. I didn't know he was that great a player of spin

India could still win this.

A lead of 126 with 6 wickets in hand makes this game very interesting. It's un Australian to say this but i don't want the silverware decided after two tests. Is rain still forecast?

Good fightback here. These two need to stick around.

It's a bit overcast right now.

If we get a lead of 200+ I'd fancy us to win it... big if though

We need to see through next two sessions with the target of 250 should be safe.
