Australia tour of India - 4 tests

Or as he said he had a simple brainfade and looked to the dressing room, and am not sure if I get you. It has no impact or advantage whatsoever but you are going to label him as a cheat instead of giving him the benefit of the doubt?

Brain fade is hard to believe given that even we know not to do it and we are fecking shit at it. My opinion of this is the same as my opinion of diving. If you can do it and get away with it well done but don't complain when someone pulls you up on it. Brainfade or not he did cheat. But yes, I'm not overly bothered about what he did. I only brought it up because people were bringing up stupid stuff trying to claim some moral high ground when the captain was caught red handed.

Issue I have with Kohli is the personality he shows in the middle or towards the media during a series comes across manufactured. As if he is trying to make something from nothing.

I think he needs to relax and not act macho for the sake of it. Lead through example through his batting not comments to stir things up.

Cannot make it simpler than this.

I take it that you have never met blokes hailing from West Delhi?

He's not going to be a Sachin or a Dhoni, he is what he is and will be like this till the last day of his career.

I'm not an Indian, or Australian for that matter!

Thats a weird argument to make, you guys are shit at not knowing when to review not what the rules are. Or has kohli tried to review batsmen who are bowled our or boundaries?

Again, diving is more common in football whereas this appears to be a one-off incident.

Not sure of this. He was a lot more brash when younger. Calmed down in comparison. I don't expect him to be a docile doormat (which is good) but he definitely can work on cutting some of the stuff.

I'm sorry when did Kohli say that he was not involved in sledging? Or when did Ganguly say that?

In fact, on the 5th day of Syndey 2008, just as play ended and we collapsed aided by some of the worst umpiring ever (including that dubious Ponting """""catch"""""), Ganguly praised the Aussie desire to win.

No the point is the excuse is ridiculous. I can't go into an exam hall, try to copy answers and then say "oops brain fade lol" and then get outraged that people accuse me of cheating. How many games has Smith captained under DRS? It's a very feeble excuse.

True but what I was saying was that while both incidents are cheating neither particularly bothers me.

He's pointing out the guy who compared Kohli to Trump. Was it you who said in this thread that Aussie media haven't taken this the wrong way?

Did you read the article? Even Clarke says it has only been 2 or 3 reporters or were you too eager to drop the lol smilies.

Warner got slammed by our media and Australian fans as well as getting fined and suspended.

And Hayden also got slammed by the media as well

Aussies can handle sledges what we dont like are players who always complain to the media (Kohli), hypocrites who say they are clean but are just as bad as us (Ganguly and the stories I have heard about him)

Steve Smith has been very diplomatic against someone who is cracking up more then the fat Spanish waiter.

Our media has been pretty good apart from one player who is always running is mouth and trying to antagonize the opposition and has failed in every way so far as well as being a massive failure with the bat.

Its also near AFL season and Rugby season has started so that takes a lot of media attention away from cricket.

Aussie media leans towards Smith, Indian media leans towards Kohli. What's the big deal?

Michael Clarke Defends Virat Kohli, Says Australian Media Trying to Tarnish Image

@Cooksen :lol:

I don't mind Michael Clarke as a commentator. Think he makes a decent effort to be objective and as unbiased as possible which isn't easy for a recently retired player. I do wonder if he's pandering to an Indian audience or if that's what he genuinely thinks.

Perhaps there's an underlying history there but in this case he reacted to the Trump comparison as far as I can see. Think his exact words are '2 or 3 Aussie journalists are trying to tarnish Kohli's image' one of which was that guy. Seems fair.

He was speaking to an Indian news channel so probably a bit of pandering involved. All the ex Australian cricketers on Indian TV are doing the same. The level discussion and commentary is quite sad to watch really. Would be far more interesting if everyone was allowed to speak their minds and we had some friction. Instead you have everyone too afraid of upsetting Star or the BCCI and we're stuck with boring cliches.

Didn't Harsha Bhogle get sacked upsetting people?

Or was that just a big rumor going around

Ian Chappell turned down a role with Star for the one day series in 2013 because the conditions put in his contract made him feel he couldn't do his job properly. The conditions entailed not being too critical of the Indian team players, performances, selections and refusal to use DRS. Unfortunately his straight talking style wouldn't have gone down well with Star Sports. Matt Hayden was happy to conform and took Chappell's place. Jonathan Agnew said he'd give up commentary if he was told what he could and couldn't say.

Yeah he did afaik. One for having been involved in an altercation with one of the state cricket association and the other reason being he wasn't pandering to us Indians during commentary. Probably for mildly criticizing Dhoni as well. Disappointing for all reasons.

Jesus Christ....it's only a game.

Explains Ravi Shastri being the face of Indian commentary :p

I dont get how fecking Sanjay Manjrekar is a commentator but Harsha Boghle isnt. Sanjay is the worst of the worst and I'd rather listen to Sidhu talk.

Also, reports say Virat hasn't practiced in the nets today and Iyer is called to the squad as a replacement in case he cannot play which seems rather likely right now.

Kohli out of the test. Rahane captains. Kuldeep Yadav is in the XI it seems

Aus win the toss and choose to bat

I guess it started with a tweet from a famous actor that Harsha talks about the opposition more than the Indian team. Maybe that opened a can of worms and he got sacked.

He recently came to an event attended my myself where there were quite a few twitter jokes going around with emphasis on not putting everything on twitter.

I'd have preferred if India played another specialist batsman. Never seen Kuldeep Yadav play. Hope Rahane has a good match. He's due a good innings.

Starc would have been great to watch on this pitch if he was fit.
