Aussie Tennis Open

I hate being in work when a sport I follow is on. Thank god for Sky+.

Want Nadal to come through here, I am looking for a final even half as good as Wimbledon.

Is there good tennis being played? Update?

Dont worry KS, Nadal is a warrior I'll be shocked if he doesnt come back

Nadal's rattled, and Verdasco's pushing him hard. There are quite a few unforced errors though, so I don't think either player in this form would worry Federer unduly.

Two hours for the first two sets. This could be an epic, although I have an inkling that Verdasco needed to beat him in three to win. The longer a game goes on, the more likely it is that Nadal will come through.

My prediction is Nadal to win in four now.

This is an absolute cracker. 3-2 to Nadal on serve in the third, although they have both been broken once, with a few other break points thrown in for good measure.

Just can't see someone like Verdasco taking a whole 3 sets off Nadal, prove me wrong!

Why's he trying to hit a winner every point? Nadal will lap this up

That's just how the lad plays. He's been doing that since I first saw him play.

He won't change either(which is probably why this is as good as it gets for him).

Well he needs to be absolutely on top form for it to work here, judging by the UE stats it isn't!

Good fight though, expected 3-0.

5-4 Verdasco, despite the fact Verdasco is blaming a gammy leg for every shot he misses.

This is a great game of tennis. If Verdasco breaks him now, we're in for some final set.

Don't think anyone could have predicted that mate, that forearm is unreal at the minute.

Just worried the adrenaline will have come down a bit now with this break.

It sounds like this is a good game then, something which the tournament needed in my opinion. I have not been overly impressed with the general level of play to be honest, though there has been some decent stuff in patches. The heat has likely been a huge factor in that. The time difference and having to watch most of the games in batches after recording them and knowing the score probably does not help personally either.

You'll go some way to beating this match this year. 4hr 30min played so far and probably the best tie break I've ever seen someone play!

1-1 in the fifth.

Yep, Nadal still huge fav for me, how many five setters has he actually lost? Incredible stuff from Nando though, Federer will be loving it!

Tis true.

Federer is the main benefactor of a long match like this. An extra day's rest, and a long match for his opponent will make things easier for him.

I didn't know Nadal could sweat so much, his hair's a mess

3-3 in the fifth.

It's slowed down a wee bit now, only natural seeing as the mad feckers have been running around for almost five hours.

Old cliche, but neither of these lads deserves to lose this one.

Aye, incredible effort from both players, Djokovic's called for the trainer just watching this match.

Not if it's Nadal, his cardiovascular is better than Rogers imo.

But he's not playing a 5 hour match at the moment.

I think Federer would want Nadal to win anyway, he'd LOVE to beat him in a GS final.

3 match points....
