Aussie Tennis Open

Ridiculous. He had Nadal where he wanted him, stretched it out to 5 sets and Nadal was obviously getting tired, then he goes and self destructs.

Glad Nadal won. The guy is a machine, he just never gives in.

Bloody tiring that, nice nap before Liverpool - Chelsea? I think so.

Not as if that will live up to its billing though.

Rafa doesn`t do "getting tired"

I think Fed will take Wimbledon and he should be a decent price now.

If it wasn't for Nadal, Roger would have crushed that Sampras record and it must get to him.

It is up to him to respond in the three remaining tournaments. Regardless of the record and if he reaches it, you want to see another response to the threat of Nadal in terms of his 'legacy' and the recent wins he has over him on his surfaces. It is meaningless otherwise.

Physically Nadal is better, so Federer needs to respond to that in some way. He will obviously not get to Nadal's level at this stage of his career/age but he could still use different training methods etc. Improvements can always be made. Could have served better today, which is something he will need to do when they meet again this year. He obviously still has the game as well as a hunger and desire to win, so I would not put it past him.

Nadal is quite brilliant and is going nowhere for quite a while though.

Was a good game that.

Some excellent Tennis by both.

Nadal is something else, he's a top golfer as well apparently.

He'll take some beating this year.

You will probably have a nice nap during it, if their recent games are anything to go by.

Fed was so much better this year in Australia than last, so I expect him to be fitter in June as well.

Too much noise in mine to sleep. Oh well.

One great thing about this rivalry is that is always delivers some epic moments.
I'm talking about the tennis by the way!

greasy Nadal wins again

bollocks to that, Federer, wake up ffs, a million unforced errors yet again

Except when he`s playing Nadal most of his errors are not unforced. Rafa is so difficult to put away, he stays in most points so long that Fed either gets tired or ends of having to go for a shot he normally wouldn`t.

You might as well as say 2 tournaments cause if Rafa is fit, Rolland Garros is for him

I agree with you guys, the 5th was really poor compared to the rest but maybe Federer psychologically gave up. If it wasn't for Nadal, Roger would have crushed that Sampras record and it must get to him.
On the other hand what can you say about Nadal, the guy is mentally on another level.

Tough luck. He hates losing, but which professional athlete doesn't?

When he was whipping roddick and hewitt asses in all Grand Slams, I don't see roddick or hewitt cried. If it wasn't for Fed, Roddick would be a multiple grand slams winner now. Same logic.

Same logic indeed. The difference is that Roger is close to achieve something far bigger than Roddick or Hewitt would ever achieve if you could combine their careers. I understand his dissapointment

I really wanted Roger to win, feck.

However, Nadal is a beast, he'll win the French (5 in a row!), and Wimbledon will be the next chance for Fed.

Get a coach Roger, and get rid of those unforced errors.

My POV: Any Grand Slam final (ie, any that matter) between these two is an epic game..either could win. If a Grand Slam final takes place with only one of them in it - they will win. They are miles ahead of the others

Djokovic and Murray can beat both of them on their day

Nah, Federer threw everything at him at Wimbledon and Australian open. In both occasions he created the illusion that he came close, but it was always an uphill battle. He always 'came back', only for Nadal to shut the door on his arse.

Nadal matched and even surpassed all the brilliance Federer could throw at him. He will consistently beat Federer with maybe one or two exceptions if Federer's lucky... first it was grass, then people held onto the dream that Federer's at least the better one hardcourt... and even that flimsey little straw is gone now.

I predicted this path for Federer a year ago and he's following every step of it.

Really don't see why people keep going like: ''next time federer will win this and that back' whenever he loses to Nadal... again. It's not like it's a recent thing either, Nadal's domination over Federer.

I have said this before: Federer is not the best player of all time if he does not overcome Nadal's domination over him. Never have I seen a supposedly candidate for best player of all time be dominated by one direct rival like this.

Also one thing has to be said: Federer is not as allround as people claim him to be... those that have not watched him consistently anyway. His volleying game is not reliable or consistent if he's put under any sort of pressure. You'll see those KODAK moments at the net when he's bullying someone again (Del Potro/Roddick) and brimming with confidence, but he mishits loads of easy volleys and is not good enough at it to build a strategy focused on getting to the net quickly.

He is basically the second best baseliner in the world with a very good first service (second service is fine to get a rally started, nothing to give him an advantage in a rally against a great player). Coming up against the best baseliner in the world = Nadal shits on him more often than not.
