Auction Fantasy Draft

I proposed the same before and it will definitely work as the caps come into place oncly after 12 hours of open bidding. Make sure you get your bids right in those 12 hours. Still you have 5 more bids to get your player in next 12 hours. The cap is to prevent 1m bids from continuously happening. It also has a distinct advantage over time bound deadline (bidding seconds before time line and cannot bid due to time zone etc)

I don't see why you guys are so concerned about 1M increments. if that's the problem then increase the minimum.

In any case, you make it out to be like other managers are happily wasting everyone's time when it is usually the complete opposite. No one will be waiting for the last five minutes so they get an entire 12 hour renewal, they just want to get it done and dusted.

I would be surprised if 25-30% of the current bids don't go through as they are right now and I expect this round to be done and dusted by Monday afternoon. That assuming the nopace situation gets sorted (can't really let players go before then) and then sometime tomorrow you decide to move back to 12hs intervals.

Infact that scenario is not fair to the person who was second highest bidder as well.

Since he mostly likely would have bought someone else as replacement and won't have cash either to match his earlier bid or get into another bid war for the player

It would introduce unnecessary strategic plays which would reward luck in the end.

Imagine Messi gets thrown back into the pool due to it and someone buys him for 40m. That's not fair to the other managers because of bad play of one.

This is not going work Pol.

Supposes someone buys Messi for 140m and does not have money for it. The second bidder refuses since he spent it on someone as well

So by all account that player got Messi banned from the draft for a loss of 10m. Sounds like a great plan for someone who gets a big player like Ronaldo

Throwing him to the pool also does not help since many teams would have exhausted funds to buy such a player. It penalizes players who want to play the draft properly.

That would actually be quite clever. Take a bow son and fair fecks if you pulled it off.

Thought Stobz was playin it safe this round with 2 x 10m picks and then out of the blue 101m on Ronaldo

TBH, I was thinking he was playing too safe. Two meh wingers would mean he really REALLY had to make up for it elsewhere. This is much better and it actually opens shit up with big-spending MJJ now able to reconsider Figo or Nedved

@crappycraperson won't be okay to bid above your budget. You should be punished for it severely.

Also what do you guys think of me starting the vote for the next position? All votes will be changeable at any times just @ my name and I will change it/include your vote.

They won't be decided in a long time of course.

Regarding NoPace, from the onset I have said to him that if he can get someone on the mains to post for him, it will not be an issue for us to have him onboard. We have not heard from since Friday and he has not responded to PM s. The concern is not so much this round but whether in later rounds he will be as inactive, handicapping his team building, and effectively taking out 1 of the 16 teams before the tournament starts. If he still does not respond by 8 am, we will have to replace him. Those who want to join the queue can indicate so now

I think it is much simpler to bar people from using money they don't have.
Agree 100%. Instead of overspending and then selling it is much simpler to simply not allow any manager to exceed the maximum budget, basically leaving the amount that is 10 multiplied by the number of players he still needs always in his account.

Think giggs is just as good as those two on a united forum.

@Polaroid I am keeping an open vote for the next positional round. Any manager can change his vote at will. It is so that when a time-limit is set up and passed we will have at least "a vote" from all managers.

Instead of having to wait another 24-36 hours to proceed when it is such a trivial matter.

The OP will be updated with all votes for the next round.

I will be ok for it. start the voting

BTW, I do agree with the general point that it would be best not to allow people to bid more than they can afford in the first place. That is NOT to say I don't agree with player sales, different things.

e.g. If X gets to the top of his bidding powers he can't continue chasing Messi but CAN offer one of his players on sale. Other managers may consider buying him both because they could do with the player and also because it means the money will get spunked on a bidding war for Messi which they are more than happy to stoke. What's wrong with letting them go mental?

In fact, in the real world that's one great way to make money, just walk into a casino any time and you will have some great bargains coming your way from morons desperate to raise cash. This is no different.

Love the knock on effect, just as i thought it was all settling down. MJJ reacted rightaway and lookin forward now to see what Viva does

Knowing which round goes next has huge tactical implications. i wouldn't mix shit up like that.

How does Messi get banned?
Any team can still bid for him at the starting price of 10 m. If many teams have exhausted their funds, someone could pick Messi on the cheap, hardly a great plan for the guy with Ronaldo to sabotage the Messi bid

Anybody can change votes at any time or hold a vote back if they desire too. There will be no certainty until the vote is final which will be after deadline day for the transfers.

But how it fair for someone who paid 80m for FatRonaldo that someone else could get Messi for 40m because someone made a bid for him he can't fulfill

Almost everyone playing agrees with me that you should not allow players to use money they don't have.

As I said it would introduce too much luck into the whole luck which defeats the purpose of open auction in the first place. Not to mention would leave sour taste for managers who worked hard to draft their team if someone gets lucky to land a big name for cheap.

We will still have the 12th round though. So if you plan and bid well, then you can pick an upgrade up for cheap in the final round.

But wouldn't it be better not to allow people to bid for a player unless they have the money to do so? A lot simpler and avoids the complications involved in selling, or throwing it back to the pool.

Also, for example, Messi is thrown back to the pool when the strikers round is over, can someone still go for him when say CB round is going on? It would be really complicated, imo.

Aye, I reckon he is better off with the current duo and cost. Mind, it means Ronnie right which isn't what people favour, that's why I was thinking about the other two.

If I were playing right now I would certainly bid for Giggs-Nedved

Was the cheapest among the trio :p
