Athletics 2017

Why does the steeplechase have one hurdle that goes into water?

Naser breaking the national record three races in a row is incredible. She came from nowhere in that last 100m. Thought the BBC would give it a bit more coverage.

Looking forward to being at the stadium tomorrow for the 200m final. Reckon, with good conditions expected, it could be a special event, as could the triple jump final. There's every chance that Christian Taylor could get close to the world record.

Should be an open race. Richards is my tip, hasn't expended too much energy yet.

As if the crowds are that knowledgeable, they are just feeding off what the media is painting as the villain against Bolt. There were other athletes who were previously banned worse than Blake competing in the championship that were not booed.

So what if he took a supplement, supplements do not strictly coinhere with WADA's list. He ended up being banned for 3 months.
Gatlins first ban was overturned

Well Gatlin never got his 2004/2005 olympic/world championship golds confiscated despite doping with testosterone in 2006, something he wouldn't have suddenly thought he needed after becoming the best in the world. So the assumption is he's won those will cheating and getting away with it, if not others. And now in his late 30s after years of been banned he's run better times than when he was doping. Are we to believe he's running faster without drugs in his 30s? Or is he still doping?

Gatlin's first ban being overturned doesn't mean it wasn't blatant cheating. Amphetamines and related stimulants are powerful PEDs. Dodgy coaches get a doctors prescription for mythical conditions, in Gatlins case ADD and should ask for a therputic (medical) use exemption (TUE). I don't think they even requested a TUE. An adult needing amphetamines to concentrate or an athlete getting an unfair advantage? You have to be pretty trusting to believe the former and most of Gatlin's training partners were also caught doping.

The DMAA substance Blake took wasn't on the banned list when he took it. It was considered 'similar' to a substance on the banned list though.

Now the question is if everyones doping or bending the rules in some way. I don't know the answer to that. Maybe Gatlin simply wasn't as good as others at cheating and getting away with it.

Why didn't Usain fancy that? Pretty slow times.....I get Yohan probably a bit fecked by his injuries to bother doing both.

Yohan crashed out of the semis I think.

You'd have to be a masochist to watch those walking finals tomorrow morning.

Which world record in athletics has stood for the longest time now? Talking some of the primary events..

Just googled the 5k record and its been around for 13 years..

100m has been intact for 8 years now..

Too tactical in the end? Became all about the final lap and he didn't have enough to sprint it.

Brendan Foster

Talking so much shite about how Farah had everybody where he wanted them and they "could not" beat him from this position. Piss off.

Men or women? Flo Jo's 100 and 200m are closing on their 30th year. I think Sotomayor's men high jump is about 25 years old. Women's high jump record is 30 years old.

So sad to see Mo lose. But what an unbelievable competitor. He fought tooth and nail for that silver. What he's done for British athletics, just incredible. What a hero.

Him and Bolt going out in the same championships...... they were 90% of my reason for watching.
