Athletics 2017

Men or women? Flo Jo's 100 and 200m are closing on their 30th year. I think Sotomayor's men high jump is about 25 years old. Women's high jump record is 30 years old.

The women's record is likely to be expunged isn't it? Like all records before a certain date. Would sadly include Jonathan Edwards incredible triple jump record.

But Flo Jo's has to be the dodgiest record on the books by far.

You can't expunge anything without proof

That blonde Ukrainian high jumper is fit, even though she's a bit overly slim.

Decathlon is conflicting.

On one hand, it's admirable what they do and how tough it is, on the other hand, just can't get excited at all seeing how terrible the results are compared to real thing.

Jack of all trades and all that .....Jessica Ennis is legit though, as she's British obviously and just all round lovely.

Think lawsuit.

It would be tantamount to accuse the record holders of cheating. I can't see it happening. It's knee jerk at the least
Seems mighty harsh on the clean ones in there. And yeah, potentially libellous.

Come on, Jamaica! x2

That didnt go well for you then..

Not related to the event that just went by - I really do wonder about doping and the impact of stricter drug testing.. Times seem to have fallen so much..

Wow. What an ending. Terrible to see Bolt pull up, but cracking race.

Brits were awesome. Sad for Bolt. Not quit been his or Mo's night.

Beautiful shot of Gemili and Mitchell Blake hugging, nearly in tears. Well done GB.

Bolt's farewell tour over, simply one tournament too far.

Did it when it actually mattered last year though. Absolute legend.

Sad to see how much Bolt's body has detoriated. The scoliosis can't help with matters.

Excellent run by the GB team though.

I think even last year he was lucky in the 100 that Gatlin lost his stride..

I think if Gatlin had Bolt next to him again he would have stumbled under pressure again.

Gatlin was very lucky he was completely on the other side of the track to his competetors this time round.

awesome performance by the GB boys. Gutted for the legends that are Mo and Bolt, as it shouldn't have ended like that. Great job by the girls too, as I think their performance has been completely forgotten. Hoping for another medal in the girls 4x400 tomorrow.

Was odd Gatlin wasn't on the anchor leg.

Interesting to see what comes out about Bolt's preparation for this tournament. He made it pretty clear that he was ready to give up on Rio a few months before it happened, and only bothered motivating himself when Gatlin said it's his medal. I suspect he felt similarly lethargic in the buildup to this one but there was no catalyst this time to kick him out of that slump.
