Can you guys make it mandatory to reference exactly what posts one has picked up dislikes/warning points for when being banned by staff?

I've had 4 warning points from the same mod in the past few weeks for "Quality Control" - having gotten none in the previous 5 years - never being told exactly what for which hardly seems constructive.
You actually picked up 7 warning points last year, so I'm not sure why you think you haven't had any points for 5 years.

Quality control warnings are usually the result of an accumulation of disliked posts, or a general drop in posting quality. If you are unsure why you've picked up a warning, contact the mod who warned you.

To add to the above, your active warning points currently total 10 (15 triggers a permanent ban) which means you're on a pretty thin line. 6 of the points will expire by the end of July, but even when they're expired it doesn't mean you can 'act up' again afterwards as we do also note the track record of posters. To get six different warnings in the past 6-7 months isn't good.

Nice idea about referencing the posts a warning has been picked up for, but like Penna says, QC warnings are often the result of an accumulation of posts so you can't really get the context from just the post that has been warned (or, if the warning has been given via your profile there would be no post displayed anyway).

Mate, I briefly explained the warnings via PM, did I not? Just to reiterate:

1st QC warning (1 point) was directly for this post:

2nd QC warning (1 point) was also direct, and for this post:
3rd QC warning was more of an aggregate one for 3 dislikes in Football Forum.

Instead of whining about thoroughly justified warnings or telling me off, like so:
will you go away
...please concentrate on improving the quality/execution of your posts. There's a reason why you had 10 total warning points (from other modmins) even before I issued these 3.

In my opinion he should have been permed for that first one invictus posted. Deplorable post.

why is "lol"banned in some forums? Considering can portray the same sentiment with a smiley...

Personally I'd ban or ration the laughing smilie as well, although it does serve the purpose of showing which posts to skim past. If you doubt me just look for yourself how frequently the shit posters use them, and how rarely the good ones do.

As for "lol" a large number of people find it, and other text speak irritating and childish, as simple as that.

Is it hard to do a job & run this - or is that why you have maybe rotating staff?
We have 7 admins, 16 mods and 30 scouts. The responsibilities are spread enough that it is fine to do both without many issues. And if some members of staff do feel they want to take a bit of time off/are away for a few days, there's a thread for them to let us know so we don't worry.

Jeez, in which thread did the first post fit in?

That's great - we'll done to all of you!

Only one of the best posters in the history of the forum. Do you have him on ignore?

@Arbitrium Yes there are exceptions, Pogue just used one as well! I've never had anyone on ignore, not even you.

So are you an exception too?

 I'm too stupid to do photos.

Still

The scheming bastards.

Reminds me of the old Viz issue where they drew a dotted outline of a sanitary towel on the front and said 'free to cut out with every copy'.
edit: oh yeah, 'with wings!'

:lol::lol::lol:

Post of the year.

@Arbitrium Read my post that seems to have upset you again, I said "how frequently the shit posters use them, and how rarely the good ones do." , I did not say good posters never use them, or no good poster ever uses them.

And I'm not claiming to be a good poster personally by the way, so there's no need for an avalanche of smilies my way, thanks folks.

The level of perceived generalization in the original post was appalling.

If you could edit it with an apology that would make me feel less upset.

I'm not sure what perceived generalisation is sorry, but if you've inferred that I think shit posters use too may smilies you are right. Feel free to be appalled.

OK then. Smilies are great. I just fecking love smilies. I want a bag full of smilies for Christmas and I've renamed my daughter Smiley McSmileyface. Everyone happy now?

Not to make a song and dance about this, but

I said for Quality Control. The others were things like riskay jokes that I knew were borderline or posting reaction gifs without realising they contravened the rules.

Mate, I briefly explained the warnings via PM, did I not? Just to reiterate:
Briefly puts it mildly. I asked you to explain my violation of "Quality Control" with specific links to my posts so that I could reflect and learn from them and the reply in full you gave me was:

Low quality posting.

You've said you only gave me 3 warning points then quoted two posts from which I got one warning point each (from you), then mention the three dislikes which equals 2 warning points (from you). That makes 4.

Anyhow, I explained to you in detail at the time why the second post you link had to be delivered in a slightly nonsensical manner in order to provoke replies (it worked) as simply saying "Let's not get ahead of ourselves - after all Tottenham were tired from their previous run of matches and we were still reliant on De Gea's performance" etc is slightly boring. Therefore I can't learn much from your quoted posts asides from not to write gay porn screenplays (although that was deliberately derailing an absolutely awful if Jose was my mother type thread) or that modmins can't necessarily read between lines.

The issue I'm worried about is that I didn't pick up any Quality Control warnings until I started taking unpopular points of view like defending Mourinho, so combined with @Damien's admission that you are all unpaid volunteers I'm suspecting there is no coherent and unbiased modding policy at play in this. To say https://www.redcafe.net/help/rules-violations/ is vague is an understatement indeed.

Can you also quote the other three dislikes please?

Ermm, that's exactly what you're doing sunshine

Yes ;)

Why can’t I ignore forums anymore? Has something changed as I’ve got the option to watch them or threads but not ignore them?

Ah I turned off the addon before the end of today’s game but forgot to turn it back on :(

It’s a fairly server intensive addon so I often turn it off if I think we’re about to draw or lose!

The add-on puts strain on the boat.
