You've missed a better one.

Steve Coppell.

What a feckin player he was . A winger I do believe . I read last night big clubs were after him but he was studying in Liverpool so went to Tranmere ( Wales ) . United then offered Tranmere ( the Welsh club ) 600,000, and doubled his wages. He went but commuted back for his degree.

I have mentioned him. Its baffling how Liverpool never got him.

Lancashire

Jimmy Rimmer / Swift?
Neville Foulkes Jones hi Blanchflower
Finney Scholes Bell J.Connelly
Rashford Viollet

?

Never seen half of em play like but does it sound close?

Jimmy Rimmer is our Scouse keeper. Southport is Merseyside mate .

Ps. My phone is shite hence individual quotes .

<tentatively fingers Thommo as the loon>

@Cassady - You're having far too much fun with this, :D. Scouse team is strong though. No sign of Dixie Dean yet is there?

Best thread on here in my two years. My Best thing to come out of Manchester thread in the newbs was great too. Just banter and a bit of nostalgia.

Forgot about Dixie Dean. Just googled him and he was born in Birkenhead.

He's Welsh .

:D

I know, I lived in L8, married a Kirkby girl, and spent many a drugged and drunken night over the water. Which is the roughest, incidentally.

Reversely, we Lancashire folk love calling Southport scousers. The stuck-up gets hate it.

L8 and a Kirkby girl. You don't get more schooled in Scouse than that. I live on Sefton Park by L8 . Iam officially posh .

Years ago the Southporters did or have changed the 0151 phone code as they didn't want to be associated with us Irish immigrant riff raff.

Hahahaaaaaa !!!

The soft twats !

Preston. An icle place so it's fair to include both people who played here and people born here.

Alan Kelly
Sam Allardyce, Mark Lawrenson, David Moyes
Bill Shankly, Howard Kendall, David Beckham, Andrew Flintoff
Sir Bobby Charlton, Sir Tom Finney, Sir Richard Arkwright,

Manager: John Inman

at the oldest continually used league football ground in the world, deepdale, preston knob end.

Seeing Moyses name between Lawrenson and Shankly's just doesn't look right.

Mcgrath was born in London.
John Barnes, Raheem Sterling and Owen Hargreaves were all born on different continents far far away from England but they are still English and proud and by the way this has nothing to do with the this thread topic so don't really see what you're trying to achieve by going completely off topic.

Reading post #1 is generally a good idea.

Alright so Frank Swift was a pretty handy keeper then. Any better ones for Lancashire excluding Scousers?

It show's you how much Iam loving this thread. It's derby day here tomorrow and Iam spending my time in here and not the laugh at Everton one on RAWK.

We live in a crazy world .

Stick with him .

I googled a few who have played for Northern teams but no joy . I then googled Lancastrian goalkeepers and was for some reason I was directed to a site called famous Lancastrians. A lass called Sophie Howard is on the list who I've never even heard of .

Google here . She's well tidy !

Well post #1 is technically wrong as far as I am concerned as that excludes so many great players that are from a certain city that they grew up in even though they weren't born there such as Patrick Viera, Evra, Desailly, Nani, Makalele, Benteke, Zaha. They should be included in an all time XI from the city they're from and its as simple as that.

Southport mate, she can feck off. :D

Jimmy Armfield for Lancs RB - lost Eng captaincy to Moore via injury or somesuch

also Burnley have had some players of high repute if you delve back far enough

John Connelly being one. Later played for us.

Peter Reid for the Scouse Cloggers?

What the fook is a Scouse Clogger ?

Reid has been mentioned by Big Dunc. Haven't heard from him for awhole have we ? He's most probably hiding under his bed because of tomorrow.

I've read that a few times but still can't make sense of it.

Care to elaborate ?

Yeah, well, Evra grew up in Manchester, Makalele grew up in Chelsea, and Benteke grew up in Birmingham, so that's where they're from, right? Simple as that.

It would have been so easy for Champagne to have smiled and said my bad, but no, he had to keep digging.

I've seen it all by now. Nothing left to fear .

Think I'd go for the size and pace of Matt Banahan (6'7" Bath and England rugby union winger) at centre back, harsh on Bergerac maybe, but on the proverbial cold wet night at Stoke, he might offer more.

Aye, but let's not forget that Bergerac went on to become that other crime fighting bloke, the older one who was always so harmonious in all he did. Good man to stick in centre midfield, I reckon.

Still, I suppose he wouldn't count as channel, was more of a Bucks man, or whatever it was supposed to be.

Shropshire might have to pioneer the double goalkeeper formation with Hart and Myhill, because ahead of them you've got Billy Jones, Dave Edwards, Steven Fletcher, and God knows who else.
