I thought he deserved MOTM, rashford had a good 1st half but over the 90mins young was better.

warrior performance today from Young. Really happy for him, a great squad member to have and deserves his place in the first team over Shaw

Incredible performance. So solid. One of the main reasons we won today.

Spotless performance, clear man of the match, and that’s saying something with Rashford bagging two goals!

I wasn’t much of a fan of buying him back when Fergie shelled out, but with the benefit of hindsight it’s impossible to argue that he’s been anything other than a good buy. Doesn’t hurt that he comes across as smart, rounded and generous off the pitch as well. Excellent representative of the club in all ways!

Very hard to imagine Shaw being capable of what Young did today

He pretty much nullified the outstanding attacking player in the league today. Reminded me a lot of the way in which Ashley Cole used to handle Ronaldo.

We were all saying drop him for shaw blah balanced blah and then he turns in a Maldini esque performance.......that’s enough to keep him in the side for then 6 weeks full of mediocre performances before morphing back into Maldini as we knock Barca out the CL

I thought so as well, it was very reminiscent of when Ashley Cole shut down Ronaldo. Young was my MOTM over the 90 minutes

I've been on his case the past few games but great performance from him today. Nullified an in-form Salah, which is some feat.

Fair play to the lad for playing the whole game with a pocket full of salad. Can only imagine how uncomfortable that can be.

I don't think he's had a great game in a while but today he was fantastic and knew exactly how to handle Salah.

It's an issue, though. Both him and Valencia will probably leave United with a couple of titles, whilst being acknowledged for soldiering on during the latter segment of their careers. However, neither offer much going forward and it won't be solved by them playing out of their socks in these big games. I do hope we look to replace both in the summer. Commendable effort from two brilliant professionals.

I am surprised at the surprise at his performance given he has consistently been amongst our best players this season.

It's genuinely puzzling how he has managed to transform from a mostly offensive winger (didn't he occasionally play as a support striker in his final Villa season?) to a fullback, who is primarily focused on defending, in about 2 years, starting at the age of about 30.

Amazed at his performance today, I did not expect that it but he was superb.

I've rated him, but feck me, I wasn't expecting that today. He was an absolute rock and played with the perfect intensity and focus.

It's because he's playing over Shaw (and rightfully so), which gets fans' knickers in a twist.

This is what happens with boring reliable players, they put in 7/10 performances so often that you get bored of them and want someone with a bit of magic in them to replace them.

The same thing happened back in the day with Nani and Valenica, Nani was more talented and exciting, but Valencia was just very efficient in his play.

Superb, kinda weird that he can have these performances against lesser teams and turn to pure mince but in this game he was on from the word go. Experienced, focused and composed. This is where his experience is needed to guide the likes of Shaw along in his development.

Chuffed for him.

He has heart unlike any other in the squad. He is always challenging for every ball with his everything. Amazing that he was always ridiculed ever since he was signed. He has proven his worth time and time again whenever he has been called for any role in the team.
A question, will you remember him fondly in the future? I sure will. He has won me over.

To England fans, has he staked a big claim to be starting left back for the World Cup? Who's he up against in the position?

Young has been very good going forward when he's not required to be very defensive so it's a bit harsh to club him with Valencia who very rarely offers anything going forward these days.

Yes he has great mentality. It also show what a good fooballer he is - switching from an attacking player to a defensive one.only good players who knows football can play in different positions.

Being a bit generous to say Young has been giving 7/10 of performances regularly..

2 goals and 4 assists. Standout performances against Newcastle, Watford and Liverpool. Very good performances against Chelsea and Tottenham. Countless games where he handles that left side with no fuss.

Solid workman like left back, defends when asked and is quite good in attack when he gets going.

I would want a new left back, because he can go to sleep occasionally because he's not a natural left back, but he has been one of our better performers this season.

Imagine the scenes when he pockets Messi for 180 minutes (over two legs).

...Nah in all seriousness Messi is Messi, Maldini would have nightmares defending him when Messi is on his day.
