Great game from him today, didn't give Salah a sniff. I wanted Shaw to be given a run in the team but when Young plays like that then more then happy for him to continue (untill Shaw or someone else can give similar defensive performances).

Indeed. A very poor game against Spurs and Shaw being ok for a while seemed to turn people against Young again. He works his balls off and was constantly switched on to any threat on his flank. Hard to find any fault in that performance.
Should have been man of the match and surely any sane Utd fan must admit by now Young deserves to be starting over Shaw and by some distance too .It shouldn't even be a debate any more
Genuinely surprised by Young today, Salah couldn't get change out of him. After a succession of pretty average displays, including in our last outing at Palace, Young showed up. Credit where credit is due. I've not been his biggest fan but I can't not praise him for keeping Salah very much contained.
Shaw has the right mentality now, but he is defensively very suspect and not as good as some think, even while attacking. Young is far better defensively and he was a winger to start with.
Brilliant performance from him. His job was unenviable, considering Salah is a handful, but he did what Jose told him to, and some more.

I really dont agree that he's usually shit defensively. One of the biggest myths about Young - he's been so solid overall this season. He's just not brazilian and called Alex Sandro.
I haven't been impressed with him lately, but today he was fantastic. Good to see.
1v1 he's good - it's that he gets caught out of position as he's usually too focused on the attacking then teams usually counter on the hole that he leaves on that side. It's the positioning and defensive awareness, which is natural. Valencia had the same issue for a few years until he fully adjusted to playing as a right back.

Oh I agree that he's generally had a very good season and been reliable. I always liked him. Just as a left back, in a 4, he's very shaky (generally) from a defensive positioning stand point. But then again so is everybody unless Bailly is there

Was a bit worried about him today as he's been slightly off defensively for the last couple of weeks or so but he well and truly turned up today. Salah didn't have a sniff.

And to think he was a forgotten man the last few seasons. One of those players that when they are gone won't be remembered as a true United great and yet we will struggle to replace him now.
